If by "video" you mean a picture...

On my Laptop it's "PrtSc Sys Req", right next to the F12 button.

Just start pressing random buttons and try pasting them onto Microsoft Paint if that doesn't work for you.

Umm... Hypercam. But there's a little thing on the top left corner that says "Unregistered Hypercam" in all honesty nobody's really bothered of it, but yeah.

Link: http://hyperionics.com/ Second product there.

You can also try Camtasia, but it only has a thirty day trial. It's like Windows Movie Maker but you can record with it, too.

Camtasia link: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Video-Recording/Camtasia-Studio.shtml (don't worry, I downloaded Camtasia from SoftPedia. Though it's not the official Camtasia site, it looks safe to me.

Hope I've helped. :)

Download beta of xsplit at http://www.xsplit.com/, select the screen region you want to record, enable local recording, convert from .flv into desired format. Only legal method without crappy watermarks/trial versions I can think of off the top of my head.
