How do I add Graphic FX to a move?

Hi all,

Recently I play tested a Melee Hack called “Magic Melee”, was quite interesting what they did with many moves and new effects. I particularly enjoyed a lot of the Ness changes. Ness’s Nair in this hack has cool elemental effect(s) during his spin, I’d like to be able to re-create that same effect in my own Melee Hack Ness file.

Question is: how can I add this Graphic FX from Magic Melee to Ness’s Nair of my own file without changing any of the other hitbox data? Do I have to rewrite the entire Nair data in a hex editor? Im not very knowledgeable on hex editing, mainly use CrazyHand.

I can post a short vid/clip of the Nair from Magic Melee later if needed.

You will need HSDraw for that. It can resize character files without restrictions, so you can add as many subactions as you want without having to worry about size.

If you want to get more into Melee modding, I highly recommend joining the Melee Workshop discord here: https://discord.com/invite/fFS6uQk/

There are many helpful people and a whole bunch of information there, as well as obscure data that may not be available elsewhere!
