How dark would you like the tone?

Yeah, I'm all about those bright colors. A game where Yoshi and Kirby are playable can only get so dark before it starts to look a little silly.

Mario Galaxy was a game that still had a fairly lighthearted, Nintendo-y tone, while maintaining a presentation that tried to make the game look and sound epic. I'd like something in that vein ideally.

Smash 4 should be the standard. We don't things to be overly edgy like Brawl, especially that color palette, it does not age well.

Hmm, so from what I see, Ultimate takes the middle ground between 4 and Brawl. I think 4 is still my favorite, but goddamn is Ultimate gorgeous in its own way.

Is it just me or does Smash Universe have terrible lighting? It looks Especially bad on Mario.
Here he is in Smash Universe: https://www.smashbros.com/assets_v2/img/fighter/mario/ss_2.jpg
Here he is in Smash 4 Wii U: https://pm1.narvii.com/6407/0e01aac3f000559729258bc7d023574938566dee_hq.jpg

Did they mess up the lighting textures on him or something?

He looks Brighter/Washed-out when compared to his surroundings. The white highlights on the edges of his model are really noticeable.
In Smash 4, Mario's stache was pitch black, in Smash Universe, his stache is VERY reflective!
Just look at it! https://www.smashbros.com/assets_v2/img/fighter/mario/ss_5.jpg

It might just be the lighting on the stages in those screenshots, but it seems that a majority of the stages have this weird lighting.
I remember the Mario Galaxy stage had odd lighting like this too.
Just look how weird Kirby looked in Smash4 when played on the Mario Galaxy stage

When modding Smash4, models I imported always had lighting issues like this.
I wonder if the people working on Smash Universe might have imported the model wrong.

Their current engine makes things look really nice from afar and really iffy up close. DK for example looks noticeably worse than in Smash 4 up close, but looks pretty good when you're just playing normally.
