I just hope for once the media doesn't try to milk the situation by involving political discussion like gun control. So freaking disrespectful to use stuff like this to push agendas.

How could you look into a child's eyes so blindly? To pull the trigger and not feel a thing....

To continue to pull the trigger....
When you have no regard for the preservation of life, you can do pretty much anything. :applejack:

Its one thing when they go after their tormentors, lovers, coworkers etc. But how do you justify going after little children like that. And its sickening that they just kill themselves afterwards to avoid having to suffer for what they did.

On another hand though, Tesh, people like that don't deserve to exist on this earth. They don't deserve to have taxpayer dollars go towards trials and many many years on death row before execution. If Connecticut even uses the death penalty. If not, life in prison would be too good for him.

edit - just saw on twitter: BREAKING: Shooter identified as Ryan Lanza, mother was teacher at school. He killed her, too.

What the ****. **** this guy. Harder than before.

Well I believe he's suffering now....
Justice is always served...in his case for a long time.

liberal media will def turn this into a gun debate. 100% guarantee. they did when that kansas city chief player did what he did. hell even a well known liberal sports broadcaster tried to pull that ****.

I will never understand how someone can be truly evil like this.
This is why i believe in death penalty so much. Kill him and it guarantees he will never do anything like that again.

I believe in it too. And if its so obvious like this, please skip all the pointless trials and wasting money. End it. People like this don't even deserve the shot. Give him the electric chair.

Death by firing squad. Give them a taste of the pain their victims felt.

Additional gun control laws won't matter if they aren't enforced.

Firing squad is actually legal in some states still. People will always have guns. That seriously won't do anything.

True Espy, but he took the sorry way out.

I'm a fan of making the condemned spin a wheel with various execution methods on it. All hell of lights and confetti and stuff. GUILLOTINE! Look at our lucky contestant go!

They all have live ammo. You just don't know whether or not you hit him or are the shot that did him in.
That might be new. It used to be that all of the shooters had blanks except for one and you were given the guns at random so u wouldn't know who had the live gun.

I was doing a little lite research and found that According to "Espy and Smylka, it is estimated that 142 men have been judicially shot in the United States and English-speaking predecessor territories since 1608, excluding executions related to the American Civil War."

IRONIC? I think so.. lol

I would assume it varies by what governing body is performing the action, but I very much doubt only one person ever had live rounds, because there is no surefire 1 shot, 1 kill situation. Either way, firing squad is basically a painful lethal injection.

Edit: here's what wikipedia says

In some cases one or more members of the firing squad may be issued a weapon containing a blank cartridge instead of one housing a live round.[1] No member of the firing squad is told beforehand if he is using live ammunition. This is believed to reinforce the sense of diffusion of responsibility among the firing squad members, making the execution process more reliable. It also allows each member of the firing squad to believe afterward that he did not personally fire a fatal shot[2]--for this reason, it is sometimes referred to as the "conscience round". While an experienced marksman can tell the difference between a blank and a live cartridge based on the recoil (the blank will have lower recoil), there is a psychological incentive to not pay attention and, over time, to remember the recoil as soft.[citation needed] In more recent times, such as in the execution of Ronnie Lee Gardner in Utah in the United States in 2010, a rifleman may be given a "dummy" cartridge containing wax instead of a bullet, which provides a more realistic recoil.[3]
And a bit more about who gets it in America

aylor reportedly chose this method of execution, in the words of the New York Times, "to make a statement that Utah was sanctioning murder."[30] However, an article for the British newspaper The Times, written 14 years after his execution, quotes Taylor justifying his choice because he did not want to "flop around like a dying fish" during lethal injection.[31] A law passed on March 15, 2004, banned execution by firing squad in Utah, but since that specific law was not retroactive,[32] four inmates on Utah's death row (one, Roberto Arguelles, died of natural causes while on death row) could still opt for execution by firing squad.
Ronnie Lee Gardner was executed by five anonymous officers on June 18, 2010. In February 1996, Gardner threatened to sue to force the state of Utah to execute him by firing squad. He said that he preferred this method of execution because of his "Mormon heritage." Gardner also felt that lawmakers were trying to eliminate the firing squad, in opposition to popular opinion in Utah, because of concern over the state's image in the 2002 Winter Olympics.[33]

Idaho banned execution by firing squad in a law which took effect on July 1, 2009.[34] This left Oklahoma as the only state left in the United States that utilizes this method of execution (and only as a secondary method). On October 11, 2011, Florida State Representative Brad Drake sponsored a bill to give Florida death row inmates the option of death by firing squad.[35]
So the skinny is that only Oklahoma and the military can really do it anymore, and in Oklahoma you pretty much have to request it.
