Hello, I'm Patrick Cox from taxmasters.
Just kidding. I'm a huge Melee fan and one o' them doc kids, though I'm 21. I've loved Captain Falcon since I first got interested in Melee two years ago. I've only been to one local tournament and got completely destroyed by Ice Climbers and Falco, partly due to a lack of tech skill, zero practice on a proper set-up, and an inability to deal with pressure. My goal is to grind, practice, and develop the muscle memory necessary to take a nice dumparump on Falco, Ice Climbers, and any Foxes in my local area that underrate my favorite character. I'm here on Smashboards because discovering this website is inevitable if you invest interest and time into Smash Bros.
I love to play guitar, bartend from time to time, and am actively pursuing open mic opportunities for stand-up comedy in my hometown of Lincoln, NE.
I'm curious as to what the best method of progression is, specifically, in practicing tech skill. I can SHFFL ~70% of the time I hit/whiff/hit shield, can ledgedash with Falcon, and turnaround decently with a laggy set-up. I don't know if I know how to DI but there's a lot of stuff I know I want to be able to incorporate into my muscle memory to reliably perform under pressure before I head to tournament and play against higher level opponents. I only just recently got a hold of a CRT, new GC controller, and Wii with 20XX on an SD card but I don't know where to start. Any suggestions?
