Hello? Hello hello? If you're reading this, then chances are you are either a fan of The Five Nights at Freddy's games, or you're here to troll what you think is a terrible idea for a DLC fighter. That's fine too, I'm fully aware that is my most oddball thread yet.

DISCLAIMER: There are no jump scares in any of the linked videos. I'm not that douchey. I would be a bit wary of Youtube auto-playing the next video, however.

WHO IS FREDDY FAZBEAR?
Freddy is the mascot (though not really main character) of the Five Nights at Freddy's video games, an indie horror series developed by Scott Cawthon. Freddy is an animatronic bear who by day & night sings songs to children in a Chuck E. Cheese-esque pizzeria & by later night stalks profoundly unlucky security guards. There have been a number of different variations of Freddy throughout the many games & books, though they all tend to be considered separate characters they are all based on the same core singing bear design.

Why Freddy for SSBU?
The FNaF series has been 1 of the biggest wild successes of the last few years. with nine games to date (I think, I'm starting to have trouble keeping count), multiple books, a ridiculous amount of merch clogging up Gamestop shelves, & an upcoming feature film. At one point they were the most popular games on Twitch & several youtubers like MatPat & Markiplier practically owe their careers to its success. Put simply, it's a very popular 3rd party series & arguably the next most recognized gaming IP by today's youth after Minecraft & Roblox.

But has FNaF ever been on a Nintendo platform?
Not yet as of this writing but ports for nearly the whole series have been announced for Switch, with footage of the 1st game having been shown so far. So rest assured, Freddy is in-fact a viable newcomer for SSB.

MOVESET POTENTIAL
Surprisingly deep. In the main & novel continuities, the animatronics are known to be very strong, able to knock arcade machines around with ease. A big source of moves comes from FNaF World, a turn-based RPG spinoff with many party members possessing a range of spells. While Freddy only has 3 abilities in that game, there's like 10 different Freddy variants & he can borrow some of the skills of the other characters of the game as well. Speaking of which, the other FNaF characters could always be made part of his moveset.

Size: 3.5/5 Not as big as the other heavy hitters in Smash but a bit bulkier than human-sized characters
Strength: 4/5
Running Speed: 3/5 Pretty fast for clunky robots, especially when no one's looking...
Recovery: 1/5 Animatronics aren't generally well known for their jumping ability. Freddy's Up B is slow at first & easily interrupted.
Weight: 4/5 robots are heavy

A - Bear Paw, a slow but hard-hitting jab. Akin to DK's jab.
Tilt A - Bear Claw, uses his claws to inflict piercing damage. Compare to Bowser's claws.
Run A - Mic Stand, swings his mic stand for added reach.
Air A - Twirls Mic Stand

> Smash Attack - Mega Bite of '83, does a big powerful chomp.
^ Smash - Mega Bite of '87, powerful chomp upwards.
v Smash - Party Favors, pops a couple of party poppers on both sides of him

B - Jump Scare, the classic trademark of all animatronics. Freddy hops forward screaming. This move has 2 hitboxes: Freddy's body, which inflicts damage, & the sound of the screaming which does no damage but has knockback. The scream hitbox has a sweet spot where if the edge hits a standing still opponent, they are stunned for a couple of seconds similar if they were shield broken.
^B - Party Balloons, Inflates a number of balloons to lift Freddy in the air. The more the player presses ^B, the more balloons are inflated & the faster freddy's ascent. The balloons can be popped by enemy attacks.
>B - Pizza Toss, throws a fresh out of the oven pizza that inflicts a burning status causing damage-over-time for a few seconds.
vB - The Puppet. Deploys a wind-up box that sits on the ground with its crank turning. After a while the crank stops & a marionette leaps out, causing high damage to whoever is in range. Freddy can attack the box to extend its timer

Grab - Latches both paws on an opponent & looks at them with mouth hanging open.
Attack while grabbing - chomps on the held opponent.

Final Smash - Scream Team. Fellow animatronics Foxy, Chica, & Bonnie join Freddy for a big screen filling jump scare.

Taunt 1 - Sings on his mic.
Taunt 2 - Pulls out a Bonnie hand puppet that waves to the players.
Taunt 3 - Removes head to reveal his endoskeleton underneath, then puts head back on.

Win 1 - Stares blankly at the camera & then jumps at the screen
Win 2 - Head shakes violently, the screen briefly goes black, then an empty Freddy costume is seen laying on the ground.

Stage: Security Office
The fighters are shrunken down & fighting on top of the nightguard's desk. A phone & computer monitor serve as platforms while a desk fan can be turned on to create high winds. The main stage hazards are the giant (to the scale of the shrunken fighters) Chica & Bonnie that can enter the office & attacks players. Buttons to the left & right sides of the desk can shut doors to keep the 2 of them out, but they don't last forever.

Music: Not 1 of Five Nights' strong suits TBH, there's a few tracks to work with.
- Menu themes throughout the series
- Toreador March, Freddy version (Disclaimer: OK, there's a jump scare at the very end of this one but its a 10-hour video, you not gotta see it)
- Toreador March, Classical version
-FNaF World NPC theme
-FNaF World battle theme
- FNaF World Boss Theme
- Unused Freddy Fazbear's Pizza song

Classic Mode: Kid-Friendly Entertainment
Freddy goes on a tour to perform for all of the children in SSBU.

Round 1 - :ultyounglink: & :ulttoonlink:

Round 2 - :ultpokemontrainer::ultpokemontrainerf: & :ultpichu:

Round 3 - :ultinkling: & :ultinklingboy:

Round 4 - :ultlucas: & :ultness:

Round 5 - :ultvillager: & :ultvillagerf:

Round 6 - :ultbowserjr::ultlarry::ultroy2::ultwendy::ultiggy::ultmorton::ultlemmy: & :ultludwig:

Boss - Marx, who sneaks up on the fighter in the cutscene before the fight.

I'll be honest, the only thing I really care about FNaF is the lore. However, FNaF VR has been pretty fun to watch (or rather, watch people get genuinely scared by it), and its put me into a bit of a good mood. I don't exactly how Freddy would play, but I would at least give him a try. I support.

Hey, I don't mean to be rude but I'm not a supporter. I'm neutral on Freddy, and I was just chiming in to say good job on the OP.

he didn't put you as a supporter. He was talking to the other guy who posted right before you the same day.

Except he did put me as a supporter. He had my name up there until recently. Last time he edited the OP was about 55 mins after my previous post, which he removed my name in that timeframe.

Did you guys see Brawlfan1s Freddy Video? It’s really good
Also why isn’t there a fnaf collection on switch yet? Just have it include 1,2,3,4,World, Sisster Location, Pizzeria Simulator, and Custom Night and we are set.

You should put this in the support thread directory so no one can make another support thread for Freddy, I really support him and think he would be awesome in smash
The thread is already listed there I see.

I just stumbled upon it:

As mentioned in the OP, Switch/PS4/XB1 ports were announced back in April but have not yet come out.

With all due respect, I think Freddy, Bonnie and Chica would work great as Mii Costumes.
Don't take me wrong, if Sakurai announces a FNAF rep, that's fine by me! I like the games.
But the Smash community will explode. And not in the good way.

Hey, it can't be any worse than another Fire Emblem character. Even though the series is technically underrepresented, but this isn't the place for THAT discussion...

Add me please as a supporter. I was expecting many negativity if someone made a support thread on the FNAF but guess it is easier as FN@F is coming to Nintendo.

My take is that just as the Koopalings and what I wanted of the Belmonts; Freddy, Chica, Bonnie, G. Freddy and others with similar frames; should be skins. Not Foxy, Puppet or alike, they should be their own characters as they are slimmer.

Honestly I lost trace of the series after Sister Location so no idea on who else could be playable. Personally I would go for Foxy alone with Mangle color scheme.

Golden Freddy can't be an alt. Honestly I would have Withered, Toy, and Funtime Freddy as costumes. Maybe Nightmare, Phantom, and Fredbear.

I think it could work as an alt definetly, I think Withered and Toy Freddy could be costumes and the majority of FNAF bears could be alts(Like withered Freddy could have a lefty alt and Shadow Freddy one too and Toy Freddy could have a Funtime Freddy alt) Freddy seems like the one of only characters that could have as many alts as smash 4 little mac

Golden Freddy doesn't move. His whole thing is teleportation. He is in the lore, unable to move. Fredbear makes more sense, as he can move and looks similar to Golden Freddy anways.
