In particular, I'm talking about this one. This is used all over the place in various "Sakurai games", like Melee, Smash 4, Kirby Air Ride, possibly Kid Icarus: Uprising (though I couldn't find an example pic), and probably more games I haven't seen. I'm kind of a font nerd and I dabble in some graphics design, so I'd like to be able to use this font to make some neat posters or fake trophy/character descriptions or something and not being able to find it is annoying me more than I'd care to admit (and I've searched for longer than I'd care to admit too). The Motoya Aporo font family is very close to what I'm looking for (but not exact; the font in general is a bit more rounded than the Melee font and a few letters are different, like lowercase "g") to the point where if I had a download of that I'd just use that font, but no download of that seems to exist and there's no way I'm spending hundreds of dollars on a font for something from which I won't be profiting.
I'm wondering if anyone has either successfully identified the font or remade it as a regular font file; if not, I would really appreciate it if someone could either do this for me or help me do it myself. I understand that more than likely, the Smash UI text is comprised of textures (or each text box is just one big texture), but perhaps there's still a way to convert it to a font from there if individual letter textures can be extracted. Alternatively, the name of the font is just hidden somewhere in the game's code. I'm not really an expert on Smash hacking, so I can't say for sure what would work best.
There's a thread on this in the Melee Workshop forum to see what progress has been made (not much, but it shows that getting textures for the text is possible, at least), but the Melee Workshop community isn't that big compared to the Brawl one, so I figured maybe I could get something moving along faster here. I can guarantee you that I wouldn't be the only one benefiting from this; I think it would be cool to see this font on Smashboards or SmashWiki or maybe for some kind of advertisement for a big tourney or an upcoming combo video or something, I dunno. I'm just really surprised that this font doesn't seem to be anywhere.
