I grabbed someone near the edge with a grounded Flame Choke coming from on-stage and the Flame Choke just spiked the opponent to his death. The opponent did not even grab the ledge on his way down, Ganondorf just grabbed him and dropped him into the pits below. It was hilarious. So evidently that is possible. I also got the replay, it happened on Smash3DS.
The grounded Flame Choke spike is much better than the Ganoncide because with the grounded Flame Choke spike only the opponent dies and Ganondorf stays alive. And that is how it ought to be.
