A MAN of 29 who is set to become Britain's youngest grandfather when his teenage daughter gives birth was today criticised for trying to 'cash in' on the pregnancy.
The soon-to-be record breaker was earlier said to be "fuming" that his 14-year-old daughter was 11 weeks pregnant because she was due to start her school exam courses.
But neighbours said he was in fact celebrating because more state benefits would be given to his family - and said he had bragged about "making a fortune" on selling his story.
The man - whose identity is being kept a secret to protect his young daughter - is now said to be in negotiations to sell his family's story to a Sunday newspaper.
But before talks with the tabloid had begun, the man said: "It’s like history repeating itself".
"I quite like the idea of being the youngest grandad in Britain, but at the same time I’m fuming that she is pregnant.
"I know myself how tough it is being a teenage parent and now she has to go through the same thing.

"However, we’re all going to stand by her and we will welcome the little one into the family. She is very young, but she was determined to keep the child. We were not going to force her into doing anything else. We don’t want her to hate us."
He added: "I don’t feel like a grandad. I’ve not got grey hair and my hearing is top notch."
But a mother in her 30s who lives nearby said: "He just wants it to be all about him. He should realise how serious it is.
"If it was my daughter pregnant so young I certainly wouldn't be singing about it."
Speaking from his home in South Wales, the man admitted he became a father back in 1996 when he was just 14.
He said his own mother, who is 47, is excited about the prosepct of being a great-grandmother.
"She was 18 when she had me," he said. "She was shocked when I told her the news, but she is happy now.
"Her own mum is alive, and so too is her grandmother, who will become a great-great-great grandmother.
"There can’t be too many families with six generations alive at the same time."

So he had a kid at age 15. And she is having a kid at age 14. Interesting how that works.

there's a women in Puerto Rico who became Grand mother at 29 too. I don't think they posted or do something in the news, but I know that women since she's my mom's friend.

If I was the 14 year old girl's father, I'd be really pissed that she got pregnant at a young age. Then again the father also got a girl pregnant at an early age so I guess it runs in the family lol.

Funny how they don't just consider an abortion, but then again benefits and welfare are good business when you're a bottom feeder lol.

It's funny how the main story is about the dad and not the fact that people are running around Britain having sex with 14 year olds.

Hah. So I'm actually older than the youngest official grandfather on the planet.

Quite surprised The Sun doesn't have this article as they thrive on this type of stuff. What would really be scary is if the combined ages of two parents is less than 25. Would have to redefine the word generation.

Hm, my family has 5 generations living ( although the youngest was born when the father was 22) , so I've lived through something similar in my family :p

I think having a kid before 26 is young, so I'd be gutted if I had one as a teenager.
Except that we are biologically strutured to be having kids in our early teens (hence why we hit puberty then) because people originally didn't live for very long, seeing as the life expectancy of the average ancient Egyptian peasant was 35. So if you had a kid at 26, it'd be 9 when you die, which according to you is 17 years to early to be mature enough to have children.

Actually. The best time a woman should have a woman physically is in her 30's.
20's and younger has a "higher" risk to the mother and/or child.

Not true, greatly increased chance of Down's baby.

A woman is at her most fertile on average at the age of 16.

Obviously not saying that's when you should knock 'em up but just saying.

I dunno, there are a million or so scientific studies out there that contradict one anothers' suggestions, but considering human beings without modern medicine have a life expectancy of around 40 at best, it's hard to imagine 30 being an optimal time to conceive, which is why I find the younger conception argument more plausible.

Not to mention ageing is basically genetic damage, which also goes on in the eggs, which is basically why 30+ women have a higher risk of having a Down's baby among other things.

Hm. From what I've read in the past of some articles (granted, it was like a year ago) a woman's body herself is best in her 30's. I don't know if that means less/higher chance of getting pregnant, or harming the baby itself but that the body of woman is at its peak. Or something along those lines.
Although, that makes sense. Maybe they are saying the woman herself and her body is healthier instead of the baby?

You were banned but I guess that didn't last long. Anyway I never implied anything, I just said that I think having kids before 26 is young, and if I had one as a teenager I'd be gutted. Either you're reading too much into my post, or you're trying to troll me (yet again) by changing the subject to something completely irrelevant to the topic to try and get a reaction.

6 generations alive at once.

That is a pretty unique family I must say.

His daughter is a ***** though, as is his wife.

why is this even on the news? We're just feeding people the desire to worse to get noticed even more than theae guys. How about some news about two virgins getting married. That sounds shocking to me now.

In terms of a sexual peak, women in their 30's is considered ideal.

I think the age is younger for pregnancy traits and genetic conveniences.

*Edit* Sorry for huge bump.
