It's ******** and has epic range and fair damage at low lvl...

I played against some Maokai a couple days ago. He wasnt that good but he musta been lvl 30 or something becuz i was blitz and could never grab him. It's like he flash up every 40 seconds or something. massive cooldown reduction.

Yeah, I was pretty sad when I couldn't smite the saplings. But thinking about it, they wouldn't be very useful if they could be targeted unless they were given tons of HP.

Needless to say, this might make him pretty funny in ARAM.

Yep, best thing to do is just run into your minions and the sapling will blow up the creeps instead of you. I actually got two kills last night on people by tossing saplings at the tower when they were trying to B out at low health. It's freakin' hilarious to watch the little guys run someone down and blow them up for a kill. But if those people had run sideways into the next creep wave, it would have blown up the creeps and saved them.
People make funny decisions when they are at extremely low health. For instance they will keep running towards base with a lethal DoT on them rather than run to a healer while remaining out of danger.

Or, in the case of Malzahar, I pick up more double kills than I should when somebody with low health and MV on them dies and passes it to a near-dead teammate.

Did I mention Malz is one of the most fun casters in the game? Constantly active and making good intelligent ults in a teamfight--particularly when they have good tanks or champs that can interrupt it)--is a challenge I find particularly refreshing.

Also I suck with Udyr. Things that look so simple with him, like running in and bear-stunning somebody, just doesn't seem to work that well. He's kinda fun, I like being in the middle of fights and I like low CD moves so I can keep hitting buttons, but I just don't really know how to be a good jungler.

I can re-read through this thread to get advices and paths on him, I just thought I'd share that I'm awful.

*

Also, back to what I was saying earlier about people wanting to quit prematurely... I fought a team that did not have a physical carry. 5 sources of nothing but magic damage, and our WW was complaining early-game that they were beating us and he kept typing "gg" in all-chat. Then I told him to shut up and told everybody to buy a Negatron cloak, and we promptly started acing them.

He also kept blaming two of our teammates and called them stupid all game. What I don't get is what people think this will accomplish; why even bother? Venting that rage doesn't make you feel better, it actually does the opposite, and more often than not it just pisses off a teammate who's already doing poorly.

I just don't understand people when they play this game. I'm pretty bad with people in general but particularly so in this context.

Someone play with me, I need to get 3 more wins tonight so I can finish the boost! Tomorrow going to play all custom games and I don't want to use the double IP on that.

Solo queue has been good to me today, all the feeders and leavers were on the other team.

This is so true. Keeping your head at low health is tough. I cannot remember how many times I've played a healer and had to yell at someone in vent to run to me when they are in trouble.

Speaking of quitting early: Today I picked Taric in solo queue and then got distracted by my dog and didn't notice that neither team ended up with a jungler. So I had CV and not much to do with it at first. My lane was kinda boring so I just kept using it on bottom lane to light up the brush for my teammates, who kept jumping the Maokai who was hiding in there and trying to zone them. He died twice, got underleveled and then just ragequit... before the 10 min mark... in ranked. It's amazing how fast some people just decide its GG and give up.

i cannot believe how ****ing stupid some people are. just had an urgot call me a feeder when my score was 0/3/7. about 5 of those assists were me ganking/initiating a kill. i wish it was limited to this game, but people are equally moronic and short-sighted in real life.

That's it, I'm ****ing done.

I got matched just now in this team arrangement:

Kass / Malz / Ryze / Cait / Kat VS Mao(me) / Trist / Nasus / Xin / Blitz. Essentially the PERFECT COUNTER to the enemy team.

Early game in my lane goes great. Dominate the enemy Kat / Ryze combo with Nasus, score some kills, down the tower.

The other lanes? They got **** on. Caitlyn ended up so fed that she dominated everybody on my team because Tristana was so ******** early on and gave her the tower / 2 kills and free reign to gank for about 10 minutes because she applied no lane pressure at all.

And at the end, when I had the least deaths, was the only person with a Quicksilver, and my k/a was literally the sum of the kills my team had?

"god maokai youre bad" from 3/5 of my team, including the Blitz who built two Sunfires and never landed his ult on more than one person and the Tristana who finished skilling her steroid last. I got blamed for tanking properly for ****ty carries.

**** this goddamn community. It's not worth it.

Play with premades. It fixes your problem.
And have to wait for people to get on? And have to play champ combos that don't blow because we'll often go up against premades who are playing absurd synergy combos?

No friggen thanks.

The HoN community might be a bunch of *******s but most of them are at least somewhat competent at the game they're playing.

What? You can play whomever you want. The SWF regulars do stupid crap all the time (and win a fair share) just having fun.

Every time I log on, there are people in the SWF chat (and always atleast 40 in the Reddit chat). You wouldn't have to wait.

Helping the other lanes does wonders. Try it sometime. If you're winning your lane so hard then why don't you do something to help your ****ty lanes. They would appreciate the help.

blame yourself.

That's the thing: I did.

How else would my K/A be the sum of all team kills? I went mid before level 6 twice to help Trist against Caitlyn, at which point I'd have to go back to my own lane so Nasus wasn't overwhelmed.

@Virg: When I'm on usually all the active SWFers are in games or doing those ******** customs.

I got tired of solo queue -> made a team -> spent a few months to get the final team together -> do well in tournies/ranked5s and have fun when I play usually premade only =D

You should do the same, the game isn't meant to be "solo." It will take a while to find a good team. I do agree SWF should stop doing ARAM so I can play normals :D

^ Basically this, but less harsh. Tree is a really strong roamer, if you see someone having a ton of trouble, go help them and toss a snare or something.

I was roaming. I can't be expected to cover the entire map all game. That's not possible.

Nothing is more enjoyable than watching Virg shield you as Morgana after all nukes have been blown or Iggy using Volley after the fight is already over.

@Thio, if they can't handle a solo lane, you take solo and shut down their carry, regardless of whether you're playing support tank or not.

Everyone thinks they are better than where they are. You might think you are really really good at a role and that your team is the problem. But, until you realize that its more so yourself as an individual that is the problem you won't improve.

When I first started making a team I played AD carry, I was doing so well, then I play Atlanta's trist and voyboy's ezreal/akali in mid and sucked. I realized that this role was not for me, and that even though I can do well in the ELO bracket I was in, I could not better at the high ratings. So what's the point of playing something you can't at a higher level? This doesn't really relate to your problem too much, but me as an AD carry cost me games, it was time to switch even after I tried improving and even asking them what I was doing wrong.

So I'm still laughing at that game we had earlier, Dan, Evan, Phantom, and Zac. 17 kills/1 death as Cass. lolol. That was fun.

When I said blame yourself I didn't mean it harshly. I meant blaming yourself is the best way to understand why you lost and the best way to get better. Blaming your team mates accomplishes nothing.

No, what you need to do is:
Step 1) Cool down. You're dead for at least, like, 15 seconds so you have time.
Step 2) Realize what you did wrong. In any (I mean ANY) situation, if you're dead and you haven't helped the team get an advantage, you did something wrong.
Step 3) Make sure you remember what you did wrong. Try and fix it permanently but at least try to fix is temporarily.
Step 4) Realize what your team/teammate(s) did wrong. In any (I mean ANY) situation, if you're dead and you're not purposely feeding or anything, there is probably something your team could have done to help you and get themselves ahead.
Step 5) Communicate to the team what they did wrong, but don't be an *** about it.

Blaming your teammates is perfectly fine, but don't just say "OMFGOFMGFG NOOB WTHWPH WHLPHE ME NEXT TIME OMFG SCRUBS tRASH" because that gets you nowhere. In ranked, if there's even a single window of opportunity for a victory open, I keep cool and try to lead my team with a level head. Of course, I don't care for trying hard in normal or when it's completely obvious that we're going to lose, but even Locodoco responded by saying that one of the most important things for a top elo player is a good attitude.

Also, do realize that sometimes you're paired with ****, whereas the opponents are at or above your skill level.

It's going to happen, because it's randomly paired. When you get that, just take it as a learning experience and move on ;P

What's the best way to win a game when one or more members of your team have fed during laning/early-mid game? Should you focus on pushing things, farming, and controlling dragon? Should you place wards and work hard to catch enemies out of position? Should you just play defensively and hope they screw up somehow?

Pretty much what everyone else said already. Get a premade or people you enjoy playing with. The game isn't meant for Solo Queue. Neither is HoN, you won't do any better there with the same attitude.

I just wish Riot would push more towards Arranged 5s rather than this lethargic Solo Queue ****. You don't accomplish anything by being ranked Solo.

Once you get into even the 1600s, you end up in a pool of a couple thousand people. Once you're top elo, you're going to play with the same people over and over. And it's not like "omfg elo hell" because top players have smurf accounts with 1800+ elo. They're obviously just good.

or you could just keep practicing those characters until you don't die in a lane to better players x:

At any ELO below 1800 solo queue, you will never be able to matched with someone regularly in ~2100 in solo lanes. So unless I plan on reaching that bracket soon there was no point in me continuing to play in the solo lane because I can never learn how to play against the better players regularly, and the gap in skill is huge.

I'd queue with people but I feel like I'm not good enough to contribute to their queuing :( Maybe it's just a skill I haven't had a chance to practice...

I did AD Blitz here and I did pretty well, ahaha. Of course, this is Normal, but everyone's level 30 so it's not like things are ridiculously dumbed down for us. I eventually reach a point where my Blitz goes DPS-ish towards the end so you can check it out there.

At 33:30, you can seem some DPS stuff, lol. But AD Blitz is mostly just Rocket > Punch > ult unless you get mad fed like I did.

And yes, these guys were just plain bad.

I'm having a lot of fun with Blitz too. I just really suck at rocket grabs. Funnily enough, there are a surprising number of ways to make up for that, and I'm still going 8-3-15 or whatever.

You know you'd think I'd be okay at calling jukes but half the time when I'm CONVINCED they will change direction they just run in a straight line and avoid it.

And Reverie is an amazing item on him; that active + Overdrive = ghost every minute, and Blitz can always use more CDR. I like it bunches :D
