yeah, i think the chanting (which was "F*** brawl" not "brawl sucks") happened because they wanted to see mango and armada already, not so much because it was brawl.

His issue isn't that people hate Brawl, it's that they are disrespectful enough to other Smashers that didn't do anything to do them. The Melee matches are 303 times better to watch, but that doesn't mean Brawl doesn't also deserve to have their matches up on display because they paid the same venue and entry fee you guys did. There is such a thing called having an opinion but still respecting others, and many people in both communities don't understand this.
This is true. I'm a bit biased because Brawl ruined the amount of Melee played over here, which makes it difficult at times to find good people to play with to get better lol. But you're right, people shouldn't take their anger on the game out on the players.

I heard SS and darkrain played a MM tho in which SS won
This was a rumor which was apparently debunked by darkrain. Then SS left the venue before the tournament ended, so they were unable to play their actual MM.

BINGO.

This was exactly what I am pissed about.

Because it's your game that caused Melee to become near dead in regions such as mine (MD/VA) since everyone is too busy playing Brawl to make money and hating it while they play it. Melee didn't cause your community to collapse for the better part of a year. It's not like people chanting "Brawl sucks" isn't justified. There's a reason to it. I would have no problems with Brawl if it didn't stop a lot of people from hosting Melee tournies even though they enjoy it more.

Not trying to start a debate here, just answering your question.
Melee being 10 years old is what caused it to die. Brawl is fresh and new and gets bigger numbers; despite what you think, a lot of people actually LIKE Brawl.

Genesis Melee players should be glad I wasn't the one running the tournament. I would have given them 10 seconds before removing Melee from the stream permanently and a 10 second warning before removing Melee from the tournament in its entirety. There's no excuse for that garbage. We tried holding Melee/Brawl events in the midwest and there was always crap like this going on being a medicore Melee player and hating Brawl makes you "cool". Result? Zero melee tournaments in Ohio on a regular basis, and a completely dead melee scene just about everywhere but Chicago.

What about the Vro zone?
Black panther is hosting a tourney in peoria.. and smym is happening so i wouldn't say the melee scene is dead yet in the Midwest

Given the attendance numbers at Genesis I somehow doubt that Melee is dead.
Michigan does fine with dual events, as does, I believe, Chicago. My condolences for Ohio not getting along...?

The rioting was inexcusable, but I believe your proposed threat would've killed more than the Melee scene at that tournament.

As someone who plays melee and doesn't have a certain liking to brawl like most people, I think that all those brawl players had the right to be mad because of the fact that they paid the same fees as everyone else and equal treatment is necessary in these situations...
People need to calm down and relax and realize that it was a melee/brawl tourney

Armada used Sheik in all his matches but he went metaknight against Fly amanita (ice climbers) I don't blame him that's a really really tough matchup for sheik probablty 90-10.

They should put in huge bold letters above the results

"DARKRAIN AND SILENT SPECTRE DID NOT FACE @ GENESIS"

Why don't they also put SCAR/HAX$$$ did not play SS at GENESIS, because they placed better than darkrain, and significantly better than 29th >_>

as if 300 players across the country would go to a tournament run by you

the '**** brawl' chant wasn't a response to how good or bad the game is; it was simply because the melee community was all on a high following watching a series of epic melee matches, and to tell all the melee people to go away for 2 hours so barlw can finish instead of just playing out the amazing grand finals while melee was already set up just didn't feel right

and obviously DBR agreed

if they had wanted to put up lesbian porn or something, the chant would have been '**** lesbians'; it didn't matter what else was getting put up, just that it wasn't melee

I have to give a shoutout to my man Eddie Mexico, that guy came out of nowhere and ust started playing me in friendlies but now he's replaced KA-master as my favorite luigi player. He took out colbol in brackets and was a hella nice guy, giving me tips on my weegee in friendlies :D. His jab to UP-B was too **** good.

Also, DARN IT. SS should have beaten Tope. Kinda lame that he and Darkrain didn't play each other.

FWIW, hax and darkrain both beat tope, while SS lost to him

i wouldn't take much more out of it other than they are better than ss vs sheik, but interpret it however you want

Has it set in for anyone else that M2K and Mango never played each other for placement at this tournament.....
