GENESIS Antioch, CA JULY: Friday 10th -Sunday 12th

HOUSING & HOTELS

UNFORTUNATELY, GENESIS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PROVIDE OVERNIGHT HOUSING AT THE VENUE. DOORS WILL HAVE TO BE CLOSED AT 12AM EVERY NIGHT.

Hotels:

So a few months back, we had announced some hotel deals and were very close to posting up some prices and the hotel we were going to use as the "official" genesis hotel. After negotiating prices, and waiting

for the OK from them to put up the info for everyone to book their rooms, the management basically fell off the map, and we couldn't get in contact with them about the hotel deals and what not.

We had gone around some more hotels around the area, and finally got a price deal with another hotel closer to the venue. We are in talks with a few more around the same area as well as the first initial

hotel we had talked to. Booking info for those hotels should be up within the week.

Ramada Inn
2436 Mohogany Way, Antioch CA 94509
Phone: (925) 754-6600
Fax: (925) 754-6828

The discounted price we had up is now over. There is currently a 20% off summer deal on reservations lasting 3 nights or more.

Must be 18 or older to reserve a room over the phone.

If you do not have a credit card, it is a $200.00 USD deposit to reserve a room, that you will get back, after they check the room prior to checking out.

If someone else is paying for your hotel room, and is NOT showing up with you at the hotel, you MUST have them fax a copy of their ID card, and their credit card.

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE:

By TENTATIVE, i mean, PLEASE DO NOT rely on the schedule below, it is nothing but a rough guildline. It is subject to change, and most likely WILL change, based on how much time we have left to get things

done.

Most of this tournament will be played by ear, and events will be rearranged accordingly.

FRIDAY JULY 10TH:
  • 7:00am - 9:00am: Payment & Registration for ALL events
  • 9:00am - 10:00am: Announcements
  • 10:00am - END: Team pools begin. (BRAWL OR MELEE)
  • IF POSSIBLE: Team Brackets begin.
  • Some round of crews might happen toward the end of the night, depending on time.
  • 11:00pm: Doors close for the night

SATURDAY JULY 11TH:
  • 8:00am - 9:00am: Additional Payment & Registration for Brawl & Melee Singles
  • 9:00am - END: Singles Pools begin. (BRAWL or MELEE)
  • IF POSSIBLE: Single Brackets begin.
  • Some round of crews might happen toward the end of the night, depending on time.
  • 11:00pm: Doors close for the night

SUNDAY JULY 12TH:
  • 9:00am: Continuation of Teams/Singles bracket throughout the day
  • Some round of crews might happen toward the end of the night, depending on time.
  • 11:00pm: Doors Close

Additionally, please internalize the following information about pools schedules and the tourney format:

You are responsible for showing up to your pool/match on time. Pools will be run in several sets. For example if we have 64 pools for each game for singles, there will most likely be four sets of

pools, 16 at a time. You will know which pool you are in at the beginning when pools are called. Consider whichever sets of pools you are NOT in as your lunch break. You are free to leave and do whatever

(get food, chill at the hotel, etc.). A set of pools may take as short as an hour or as long as two, so plan accordingly. If you come back late, WE ARE NOT WAITING UP FOR YOU. Pool captains will be given

instructions to DISQUALIFY ANYONE WHO DOES NOT CHECK IN WITH THEIR POOL CAPTAIN WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF THEIR POOL BEING CALLED. During the course of the pool, YOU ARE NOT TO LEAVE THE AREA. IF

YOU HOLD UP THE POOL IN ANY MANNER, YOU WILL FORFEIT ONE OR MORE MATCHES.

Most likely we are looking at 32-64 pools advancing to a 128-man bracket for singles (cut all numbers in half for doubles). The exact number of pools, players per pool, and number advancing from each pool

will be decided by time constraints.

TWITTER

We will be using Twitter to update people with when pools are being called, bracket matches, crews, and everything basically. If you like to participate in this, please register at

www.twitter.com, and then go to the genesis twitter page at: www.twitter.com/genesisdbr. There you can follow the account, and have updated reports on whats going on, and whos playing who. I will be posting

up pictures on the twitter account as well.

For people who are attending GENESIS this is a big plus, because you can roam freely around where you want, and always stay updated via twitter, by enabling texts being sent to your phone. You can go to

www.twitter.com/devices under your account, and attach a phone number to the account you registered. Then every time i update the twitter page, you will be texted with the updates i send out, and you wont

have to worry about what time pools will end, or when your pool will begin, or if you'll miss a highly anticipated match up. PLEASE TAKE FULL ADVANTAGE OF THIS FEATURE, AND TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW. Its simple,

and easy, and takes a few seconds to set up really.

RULE SET

The following is a TENTATIVE rule set. The rules are subject to change depending on how many are in attendance, and also based on time schedules.

During the couse of the pool, YOU ARE NOT TO LEAVE THE AREA. IF YOU HOLD UP THE

POOL IN ANY MANNER, YOU WILL FORFEIT ONE OR MORE MATCHES.

Most likely we are looking at 32-64 pools advancing to a 128-man bracket for singles (cut all numbers in half for doubles). The exact number of pools, players per pool, and number advancing from each pool

will be decided by time constraints.

Chibo's Video for the Masses Rule

  • By entering the tournament you agree to have any tournament matches be recorded if possible, and be uploaded without the need for consent by the players in the match. The only time a match can be requested not to be uploaded is with extraordinary occurrences such as a power outage during the match. Failure to abide by this rule can result in a DQ for a tournament match.

Reasoning: I believe that if players attend tournaments and play with the potential ability to win money at the expense of the community, the community is allowed to watch matches that are part of these tournaments that had money on the line.

MELEE Singles & Doubles - Pools/Bracket:

Pools Only: Random stage select
  • First stage is selected by random from one the Neutral stages listed below.
  • Each player is allowed to reset the random stage once; this forces a new random stage to be picked. If the reset stage comes up again, you do not play on it.

Bracket Only: Stage striking
  • First stage is selected by each player alternating turns to strike out one stage each, back and forth, until one stage remains.
  • Stages used will be a modified neutrals stage list to complete the 7 stages needed for stage striking. (see below for list of stages)
  • stage striking has no affect on the stage selection for counter picks.

  • 4 Stock
  • 8 Minutes
  • Items off.
  • Sets are best of 3 until Winners/Losers bracket Semi-finals are reached. Semi-finals to Grand Finals will be Best out of 5.
  • Ties are broken by remaining lives, then %. If both criteria are tied, then the Sudden Death match will be played out.
  • Advanced Slob Picks: After the first match is played, the Winner of the first match bans a stage, then the loser of the first match will announce a new stage to play on for the next match. The winner

will then be allowed to switch characters, followed by the loser. Apply the same logic for the third match (and fourth/fifth when applicable) if there is one.
  • No stage may be used twice in a single set if the counter-picking player has already won on that stage, unless the opponent agrees to use the stage again. (Dave's Stupid Rule)
  • Double Blind character pick can be called at anytime before the first game of a set starts, and only apply to the first game. Let your pool captain know if you choose to utilize Double Blind.
  • Controller Mods, Glitches (IC Freeze Glitch, Mewtwo Soul Stunner, etc), and tactics used to stall a match (wall-bombing, rising pound), are banned.
  • Wobbling is NOT banned
Team's specific rules:
  • Team Attack will be ON, life stealing allowed.
  • First stage is selected by each player alternating turns to strike out one stage each, back and forth, until one stage remains.
  • Stages used will be a modified neutrals stage list to complete the 5 stages needed for stage striking. (see below for list of stages)
  • stage striking has no affect on the stage selection for counter picks.

STAGES:

Neutrals:
  • Fountain of Dreams (Singles Only)
  • Pokemon Stadium
  • Dream Land
  • Final Destination
  • Battlefield
  • Yoshi's Story
  • Kongo Jungle 64 - This stage will be used as a neutral ONLY in Singles Bracket. It will be used as a Counter pick during Singles & Doubles Pools.
Counter picks:
  • Rainbow Cruise
  • Mute City (Singles Only)
  • Poke Floats
  • Corneria
  • Brinstar

BRAWL Singles & Doubles - Pools/Bracket:

Pools Only: Random stage select
  • First stage is selected by random from one the Neutral stages listed below.

Bracket Only: Stage striking
  • First stage is selected by each player alternating turns to strike out one stage each, back and forth, until one stage remains.
  • Stages used will be a modified neutrals stage list to complete the 5 stages needed for stage striking. (see below for list of stages)
  • stage striking has no affect on the stage selection for counter picks.

  • 3 stock
  • 8 minutes
  • Items Off
  • Sets are best of 3 until Winners/Losers bracket Semi-finals are reached. Semi-finals to Grand Finals will be Best out of 5.
  • Ties are broken by remaining lives, then %. If both criteria are tied, then the Sudden Death match will be played out.
  • Re-grabbing the ledge of a stage more than 50 times will count as an automatic forfiet of the match. The amount of ledge re-grabs are found in the stats after the match is over in the result screen. Running away from an opponent to reach a better position is not stalling, while doing an infinite grab endlessly against a wall is. Any infinite chain grabs must end quickly after 300% has been reached so as to prevent excessive stalling.
  • No stage may be used twice in a single set if the counter-picking player has already won on that stage, unless the opponent agrees to use the stage again. (Dave's Stupid Rule)
  • Metaknight’s Infinite Cape glitch is banned. If you are caught doing this, you will forfeit the current match you are playing, and will count as a loss.
  • If a player successfully ends the match with either Bowser or Ganondorf’s over B attack by suicide, then the player who initiated the move wins. If a player ends the match by swallowing with King DeDeDe or Kirby, and it counts as a tie the player whom initiated the swallowing wins. Unless the character breaks out prior to death and is shown winning the match. In which case, that stands as the correct result.
  • Advanced Slob Picks: After the first match is played, the Winner of the first match bans a stage, then the loser of the first match will announce a new stage to play on for the next match. The winner will then be allowed to switch characters, followed by the loser. Apply the same logic for the third match (and fourth/fifth when applicable) if there is one.
  • Double Blind character pick can be called at anytime before the first game of a set starts, and only apply to the first game. Let your pool captain know if you choose to utilize Double Blind.
  • DDD's Standing infinite grabs are NOT banned.

Team's specific rules:
  • Team Attack will be ON, life stealing allowed.
  • In team matches, the ports will be selected in a 1221 fashion. Meaning a player from Team 1 (if need be Rock/Paper/Scissors can be used to determine this Team) will select one port first, then both

players from Team 2 will make their selection, then the remaining player from Team 1.
  • If a player on a team is using a character that might make it tough to determine the teams color (like Sonic, Lucario, or Pokemon Trainer), then either team is allowed to request an alternate color be

used prior to the start of the match in order to limit any potential confusion.

Neutral Stages:
  • Battlefield
  • Final Destination
  • Smashville
  • Yoshi's Island (Brawl) This stage will be used as a neutral ONLY in Singles & Doubles Bracket. It will be used as a Counter pick during Singles & Doubles Pools.
  • Pokemon Stadium (Melee) This stage will be used as a neutral ONLY in Singles & Doubles Bracket. It will be used as a Counter pick during Singles & Doubles Pools.

Counter pick Stages:
  • Lylat Cruise
  • Delfino Plaza
  • Castle Siege
  • Frigate Orpheon
  • Battleship Halberd
  • Rainbow Cruise
  • Brinstar

FRIENDLIES

We know that friendlies with new people from out of town are very important to you in attending a national tournament, but we must make the first priority the successful finish of the tournament. We are

going to need possibly every available TV in order to make sure the tournament runs on time. If we end up having more TV's than we need at a given time, we will make an announcement that some set of TV's is

available for friendly play. This would likely be at times when the brackets are far advanced. We also remind you that the hotel is jam packed with smashers and you have as much friendly time there as you

like.

EQUIPMENT
WE NEED YOUR EQUIPMENT TO MAKE THIS A SUCCESSFUL TOURNAMENT! WII'S, TV's, CUBES! We know that **** has been stolen at other recent tournaments and we are aware that people are worried about the security of

the stuff they bring to the tournament, so let me explain the system we will be using to assuage your fears and encourage you to bring your equipment:

When you register, you will be given a wristband. If you brought equipment, your wristband will be of a different color and will have a number on it. We will associate that number with you and your equipment

by writing down the SKU number of the console. When you want to take it, you bring your wristband to the front where we will have a spreadsheet of names/numbers/equipment.
We have hired security for the venue. Nobody is taking any equipment without properly checking it out.

______________________________________

INTERNET & LIVESTREAM

Unfortunately we will NOT have internet at the venue. The venue has basically pulled the internet, and wireless, and have no access to it. I can go on and on about it.. but bottom line is there will be no

live stream, and there will be no updated brackets.

Shining Gundam is equipped with two beam sabers, and the "Shining Finger" ability. This attack focuses heat into the Gundam's hand, which causes it to glow green and allows it to easily crush the head of an enemy Gundam. It contains a Emotion Energy System, which if given enough input allows the gundam to power up significantly, allowing it to channel the Shining Finger energy into one of the swords, creating a Shining Finger Sword, which is large and powerful.
Sounds a little Hard Gay too me.
