I have always been a big fan of the GameCube controller design. So much in fact that I have compiled a list of all 23 known official releases. Some were released individually, whereas others came packaged with consoles.

This list will not include prototype or development controllers. It will also not include 3rd party licensed controllers such as the Sammy keyboard controller, or the Hori digital pad. Lastly, it will not include the LodgeNet hotel controller!

I'd play melee with it and I would make sure to play consistently with it. So I could strike fear into the hearts of my opponents. The Controller screams mind games.

Edit: I have found ZERO on Ebay. I have found PS2 versions of this controller in used game stores and ebay. The Gamecube Version must be rare.

the emerald blue controller should go before the white colored one chronologically. it might seem rare in america though it's quite common in japan. i'd also like to see a clearer explaination between the final fantasy controller vs the white colored controller.

could you possibly provide links to where each controller is purchasable? to my knowledge, only the white one is available for purchase now from playasia.com

the platinum (silver) one used to be sold for ~$23 on nintendo.com but they've discontinued that :(

in america, i haven't found any sites that actually sells it. personally i use a third party site to be able to bid and purchase used emerald ones from yahoo japan auctions. i could easily find emerald and occasionally the mario/luigi/wario and other special (bundle) variations on there.

Damn, Japan got some really nice looking controllers. It kind of makes me sad that the US only got purple, black and silver consoles.

I'm aware that they're very common in Japan. And this list wasn't meant to be in any sort of order. But now that you've mentioned it I'll probably move it around and put them in order from earliest to latest release date.

I noticed that the cords on the Purple ones are more rigid. And also the Spice is a millimeter longer and taller than my black one. Both are Nintendo brand. Also, the Wavebird doesn't seem to have much if any lag...

Why did you take my list essentially directly from the forum N64forever without giving credit or asking permission?

Is there a list of the actual hardware variations of each? I know that most if not each model had slight differences physical, as someone mentioned (I believe the black is slightly heavier than say, the orange, and one of the models' shoulder buttons have slightly stronger springs). Things like that...

The black is heavier than the orange and purple. I have all 3 and I feel the black is heavier.

Also the purple feels (thicker) than my black one.

So no mention of the Smash 4 bundle controllers?

America got the black one. Japan got the white one.
