Alright, so planning on this having the 2012 videos in this now. [Update this later tonight]

One requirement for videos to be here is that they have to be tournament/money fight/cruise battle. Anything above friendlies pretty much.

Here's the old thread

[collapse=2011 Archives]So here's a new thread for Fox vids, it'll be pretty much all the 2011 videos(plus a few from 2010). I'll be updating this and adding much more videos later on when I don't have something to do.

I'll just take down the old video thread and replace it with this one. If you want the videos pasted here drop me a message.

I also suggest you bold and colour the names of the players so they are easy to locate.

I'll probably just link to the old thread and call it good. It was kind of cluttered and I wanted to get newer videos up there.

Edit for refrence

Take the vids from the old vid library. Only ones from June and up though so we don't have really old vids if we are going by a yearly thing and remember keep the important vids like the ones Uzi made.

(IMO the way KJ had it was perfect the only thing that should have added was the MU concept.)

I'd rather have the video tutorials in a guide where people would want to see a demonstration. I'll see what I can do though.

The problems I had with the other thread were; there was no way to see the date on the video without clicking it, there was alot of old media, youtube links are unpleasant to look at, and multiple collapse boxes are not fun to click.

Also, I should probably make this the critique thread so we don't have more than 1 of the same thing.[/title change]

Robfox: That's why before you play the match say "Hey, let's not use Uptilt, Upsmash" It's not going to be serious anyways.

LOL yea you will be surprised. Back in 09 all the Foxes stopped using Dair for a week and when that week ended we all came back better. Try it out lol. You learn new options because you will stop using your crutch (in your case Utilt and Usmash)

So for today, I added a few more video, started a new section for M@v and King Funk(which I'll add more to later) and started the Matches by Match-up part.

I also added the At Video. I took out some that had broken links or were bad quality and I also put them in a kind of an order.

It's better to start out with a laser battle in this match-up, and the reflector helps in that. Fox's lasers can't be reflected back to hit if I remember right. Don't go straight towards Falco after getting KO'd, it usually ends up with a CG.

When edge gaurding Falco, Side-B is beat by dair and nair. Firebird, don't be fancy unless you have to. If they need the ledge to get back on, just go for a ledge hog. If they can land on the main platform with it, that's when you go for a shine.

Don't Fsmash Falco's jab combo, if they do it correctly they'll shield before you get to them.

...and why all the dash attacks?

Nice job Illusion Cancel'ing.

Another german fox right here :D
What is it with you German Fox's you, asking Fox's from halfway cross the world for critique :)

0:06~There was too much time between the N-air hit and landing to go for a utilt.
0:11~AC Bair and hitting with the other foot would have done something.
0:44~I would have gone for a grab, but in that position you could have hit with an Illusion
1:05~A ledge drop bair would have been a good thing here.
1:14~Were you going for a Dashing Up-smash?
1:16~Here you could Up-tilt
1:32~Cancel that Jab Combo
1:47~Ike's Sword Slice is faster, stronger and has more range than Fox's leg swing. You were out of range to hit him too.
1:55~Lol
2:15~AC that Bair
2:20~There was enough time to run in and up-smash.
2:40~You got hit by Ike, You could have shielded, full jumped, double jumped or air dodge'd to avoid it.
-A technique you could have implemented before that point is platform camping. You see you only got 3% with lasers before dying. If you had waited in the platforms, you may have gotten an opportunity for more damage off with a string of hits.
2:55~That shouldn't have worked,
3:02~Full hop Drill or Short hop Up-air would have hit.
4:03~You got killed again! You don't have to approach Ike if you have the lead.
4:46~You could have RoflCopter'd to gain height and given yourself time to watch his movements. Then Ike was Up-smash'ing, you could have Shine stalled and Dair'd or Illusion away if he was charging.
4:50~That was obvious.
5:23~You could have shined out of Shield and then go for a wall shine. Ending it with an upsmash for the kill : D

Some random things I noticed, you don't always land with a laser.
You got punished a lot for Air dodge landings.
The platforms were lonely :(

A lot of the critique video's in the other thread got ignored a lot of the time. It made me sad, so I took it upon myself to critique them. :New Year's Resolution:

But if anyone else has some hints, that'd be great.

For the fox v. pit MU you could add me vs. krys I think that gives a good general idea of how it should be played and what works

Unless your only using tourney vids then nvm

Do you know what the most important thing for new players to learn in Street Fighter is? It's not the special moves, it's not the supers, it's not any fancy combos. It's learning their character's normals.

Hey, guess what, it's almost the exact same thing in Smash! WHO WOULD HAVE GUESSED? If you learn how to utilize your all the moves in your toolset, you'll become a better player.

Learn to AC U-Air from a short hop. B-air isn't the answer to everything.

Make more use of Jab Canceling(go 2 punches not 1)

Delay the Fair hits a bit so you get the last one if people know how to DI them.

Don't use Illusion to the point that they expect it.

Learn Illusion cancel'ing

:Might add some more in time:

among the figments of your imagination
Finally got the opportunity to play against some decent opponents. Here's a few of my last couple weekends worth of matches. Living in the middle of Smash nowhere, I used to not get this kind of opportunity until I traveled for tournaments. At least now I'll finally have some willing/capable opponents to practice on for the long stretches in between.

You know the drill: tell me just how badly I screwed these ones up.

Sorry about the sound on the last half of the vids. Something must've happened with my capture card.

I'm not an expert on critiques but I will say you really need to get that lazering down. It really helps your camp game and some characters like Donkey Kong really gives you an advantage because lazering forces his approach. You may have won that game but it came down to the wire.

Match 1 v. Peach:
Try to autocancel your Fair more. A full hop Fair autocancels onto some platforms, like the platform at 0:09 on Castle Siege. A short hop Fair autocancels on regular ground. Don't land with Fair when falling either, it has too much lag for Fox.
At 0:32, use a Jab Cancel, "Rapid Kicks is Fox's worst move." Jab x2 -> Grab, Jab x2 -> Shine work well, mix it up with all of your moves, just not Rapid Kicks.
Up Throw is not a good throw. The opponent can DI the lasers and they cannot be combo'd from Up Throw. Down Throw is a much better option. It does the most damage of all throws and Fair, Uair, Bair, Up Smash, and regrab are good follow ups to it.
Your lasers are all but atrocious, the SHDL needs to be timed properly so that the last laser is silent. I say "need" because of a strange glitch that I've noticed with Fox where he recieves lag after SHLasers. Go to 1:41 of your video and see what I mean. You will notice that Fox has to put his gun away on the ground after he has landed and there is almost as much lag as standing lasers. I'm not sure what frame you have to fire your blaster in the air on, but this can also happen with a SHSL if you fire too early. SO LEARN PROPER LASERING TECHNIQUE. IT SAVES LIVES. ESPECIALLY FOX'S.
Overall I would say your Fox is too aggressive. Personally I think Fox should only camp, and nothing else, but his approach game can be useful at some points. I don't have any examples of that, but it is possible. Notice at the end of the video you were trying to rush the Peach on the edge. A more practical solution is to retreat and SHL at her until she is forced to approach. You rack up the damage and get ready for an Up Smash kill. Fox is one of the best campers in the game, so use that to your advantage.
When you approach with Nair, don't just "use" it. Either fastfall the Nair to spend less time in the air or use it right before touching the ground so that there is virtually no lag. I often use this move and it works well, just use it correctly.
When you grab as Dair follow up, don't shield grab. Buffer the grab within the last 10 frames of the Dair and you will grab instantly upon hitting the ground. It is a lot faster. When you follow up with Utilt, make sure the Utilt is hitting in the direction of the opponent. Pivot before the Utilit so the get hit most of the time, they may be able to shield if they only get hit by the ending hit (when Fox's foot is above his head).
Learn to Momentum Cancel and DI properly. Fox needs the extra survival boost because of his light weight. Uair is his Momentum Cancel, you should Smash DI the kill move inwards with both the Control Stick and the C Stick and you should fast fall after you perform the Uair. Don't air dodge like you did when you lost your first stock, and don't Fair like you did on your last stock. Second stock you did Uair, I'm not sure why it was different every single time. Look up a good DI tutorial video online for more information.
Don't roll so much. Fox's roll is nothing special, but his dash speed is incredible. If you feel the need to roll away, try running away and RAR SHL instead. Rack up that damage this way.
I recommend learning to SHTL, it is actually easier to learn than SHDL (perfect ones, with the last laser silent) because the timing is just easier, at least for me. You just press the special button three times as soon as you leave the ground, made easier by switching your control scheme (Y to jump and X to special, L to jump and B to special, just two examples).
Finally, Castle Siege is a bad stage for Fox, don't go to it.

I'll try to critique the rest if you want later, maybe tomorrow when I have more time, or just say you don't like my critique and that's fine too.
