Over 2000 members in the discord, as well as top Foxes in the chat featuring Larry Lurr, Ksev, Feel Tension, JaySon and more!

Hello all! Feel Tension and I would like to invite you all to the brand new Fox community Discord chat! As of now, there have been Fox group chats on other social media sites/comminication software i.e. Facebook and Skype, however, Discord is a much better application for the purpose of video game discussions.

There are many reasons to why Discord is better than other applications such as Skype and Teamspeak, including:
  • Can be used on an internet browser or you can download the app on your desktop! Discord is also available on mobile phones, too (Android and Apple phones)
  • Multiple voice and text channels on a single server, allowing all kinds of discussions to be made possible! This also makes things such as matchmaking much easier to take place
  • Discord uses your machine's propeties and optimises on it, using as little RAM and CPU as possible when it is open. This means no more lag when playing (Skype caused a lot of issues in terms of lag)
  • Permissions. This allows people to gain powers, ultimately giving moderator/admin status. This is very good as maintaining the group chat now becomes much easier.
  • Voice channels display who is in the channel. No more voice chat hosts.
  • quick, easy and effective commands to use (i.e. "@[Insert username]", "#[channel name]")
  • Your IP is protected
  • No ads on Discord!
  • Discord makes regular updates with more and more features coming soon, such as custom emoticons, screen sharing and video chats
If you would like to learn more about Discord or you want to download the app, please visit this link

Please read these rules before joining the Fox group chat.

  • No NSFW content. Mainly images but applies to comments too. This results in an IMMEDIATE ban. Strictly prohibited! If you wouldn’t want a teacher or a boss to see what you are about to post or the comment you are about to send, don’t post it.
  • Character Bashing. Do not bash our main, or other characters! Strictly not allowed! You will be warned if you are “bashing” a character. This is not an outlet for your complaints against our character.
  • Baiting / Bullying / Pedestaling other players in the chat. Everyone is treated equally with respect. If you are “toxic” to this chat community you will be warned. Bear in mind that being toxic is a vague word but the moderators will let you know if you are breaking this rule and will give you a warning. Repeat offenders will get banned. This is supposed to be a safe haven for our character mains, anybody against that goal will be removed.
  • No spamming the chats. Be it images, memes, or constant message notification spam. You will be warned if you are spamming.
  • If you add someone who was previously banned without the moderators knowing so, both parties will be removed.
  • Use the group chat for its intended purpose
  • Please show respect when in the voice chats
If it is your first time using Discord, I highly recommend reading the #stuff_to_read channel which has a Discord tour that will help you familiarise yourself with the apllication and how to use the Fox group chat channels!

What we do in Fox discord
I organise weekly community events that a lot of people love and participate in, including:

  • Joint-matchup discussions: this is where 2 discord groups come together to discuss the matchup of their characters. What makes this much different is that we have 2 groups of communities that have extensive knowledge about their characters and we discuss their pros and cons, and what they do in the matchup that they are currently discussing, talk about neutral, techs, stages and lots more. We even go head to head in a discord crew battle, which gives players an opportunity to get some MU experience, and to get competitive to see which discord is the best! These crew battles are also streamed LIVE, so you can come and watch us if you are apart of the discord.

  • Exclusive Fox community events: These include Fox-only tournaments that I organise, Lab sessions, montage videos and other events!

  • InHouse Fox discord Lab team projects: A special team of Fox players and I have come together to really explore what Fox can do in this game. We have already done lots of lab projects, discovering and further pushing Fox's tech skill and sharing it to the community. You may have already seen one of our works already. We are not stopping here, and LOTS more projects will be released in the future. We even ask the community to join in, and if we see that you have potential, we may ask you to be apart of our team.

  • Other fun events that bring the community together: We are a pretty laid back discord, so a lot of us are super friendly. We have had a lot of fun moments in this discord, and we have events that people join in on, such as voice chats, live reactions of the Nintendo Direct, and (coming soon) other sessions where we play other games. You will have a blast with us :)

  • Fox matchup documents: Currently, because of our JMUs, we have obtained quite a lot of information about the characters we face, and I write up everything we learn from the mains themselves. Our goal is to do this for every single character in the roster. That way, we can all have extensive knowledge about the MU of every character, and be prepared for matchups we do not usually have.
Things like this never happened in the Skype chat, and people have responded very positively to the events, so why not join?

Coming from Pokemon showdown's smash room, which is similar to this, I think this would be a good idea if it is managed correctly.

I'm assuming that if this happens it won't be public for anyone, because that's my complaint about showdown, the fact that random casuals can enter and ask questions that are common knowledge to ANYONE that is semi-competitive. Nothing against these people, as we were all there at some point, but eliminating this would be really nice. You also have to make sure that people stay focused and on topic, as from my experience people tend to talk about random things that don't pertain to any specific subject. Again, nothing wrong with that, but if you wanted facilitated metagame discussion you will have to limit that too.

I am well aware of things like this. For casual players, there really is not much I can do about that. The fact that casual players would be asking questions in a group chat that is specialised on a character (in this case, this one), it shows that that they may potentially want to get into the competitive scene, which is absolutely fine. As a community, we're here to help anyone out. For any questions on Fox, in terms of the metagame, matchups, new techs or critique on videos, these type of questions will all go towards the #metagame channel in the group chat. There will obviously be other channels included in the group chat including #updates (where me and other admins/mods make important announcements about the group chat, such as events or new feature) and #matchups (a separate channel for people to set up a game session against each other. This removes the clutter of people asking for battles in other channels).

Also, if ANYONE is in the Fox skype group chat, could you please private message me?

I'd like a link, as a Tail Lover one thing I'd like to be able to do this new year is to learn all the characters that have tails for friendlies (not tournament, need to focus on others for that) so I'd like to learn Fox a lot more than I do now, and he looks fun. Who knows, Maybe some day I will like to use him in tournament! (Though that is not my goal)
