Aside from getting some shine spikes and a occasional get off me shine, how else could his shine be applied? i have been experimenting but haven't found anything else just yet, wanted to know if anyone has found a creative way to use his shine

Gimps is where it works really well, aside from that use it to actually reflect projectiles (its intended use lol) in matchups against characters like Mega Man.

maybe someone else can clarify: can shine still cancel instantly after it reflects something?

Yes it can. During the reflect animation it is basically a shield - you can roll, spotdodge, and most importantly, jump while the "reflection" animation is playing out. Very useful.

I find too many Fox players don't use the Reflector often enough against projectile users. Combined with our blaster, it makes us really hard to pressure. It also protects you handily from characters that edgeguard with projectiles, like Snake, Ness, Lucas, K Rool, Dedede etc.

Then yeah, definitely use it to reflect projectiles if you can act out of it immediately after reflecting.

Against Snake I would particularly use reflector on the remote missile edgeguards, once it gets reflected he loses all control over it. Watch his habits carefully first though, because he can also turn it to slow its momentum down and bait reflector. You can also smack the missile with an aerial to clank with its hitbox and disrupt its path, but do watch out because Snake will still maintain control over it.

The missile itself has a crapton of HP too, not even a Bowser F-smash takes it down, so don't try taking it down and instead get close to Snake to force him to give up control of it.
