What I ultimately find odd about Reddit and chan sites is that they're well, public domains, and have quite a strong jailbait obsessive community.

Kinda weird, you'd think they'd be more paranoid.

Victim blaming is implicit defense of the perpetrators, actually.

I'm not really familiar with the specific content of r/jailbait, so I wasn't aware that all of the pictures had girls with their buttocks and/or vagina exposed.

I do know that it's not only girl pictures. Lots of just young boys in swimtrunks as well. I guess they should have worn longjohns before taking pictures.

edit: for the record, I'm not saying you are a ephebo apologist, I'm just saying that's exactly what you sound like from these posts.
All I'm saying is people shouldn't post this **** for the public to see if they can't handle the consequences, that's literally it. I'm saying they should PROTECT THEMSELVES CUZ FACEBOOK SURE AS **** WON'T. It's like telling some well educated person to not go into the ****ing ghetto wearing colors that might denote they're part of a gang. I'm not defending the gangsters that will take shots at them, I'm telling them to avoid the goddamn situation so it doesn't happen, period.

They do that because generally the internet is anonymous and whatnot because you're not doing anything overly questionable.

Paedophiles congregating in what is essentially public space is kinda... weird, I mean, it's not like it's much of a mission to track them down.

This argument is stupid because you are saying if young girls want to wear bikinis, they shouldn't because they are just inviting leers. That is horrible logic. I have cousins who definitely post stuff that is probably in line with what /r/jailbait would be into. If I see that, I LEAVE THEIR PROFILE. It is the perpetrators responsibility to treat people with respect. If someone is wearing no clothes or whatever, then I am not suddenly allowed to **** that person.

I've only said like 3 times now that it isn't a valid excuse for the perpetrators but yes please, continue to strawman me. I said that if they continue to post those pictures in public, those pictures will be taken and used by pedos, which is obviously, you know, the reality. Kinda how you don't ****ing broadcast your goddamn user name and password to important **** on a shirt, because you can't trust people. That doesn't make the person who might hack your profile "right" or excuse them but it does mean YOU PROBABLY SHOULDN'T DO IT, yeah? There is no ****ing argument being made, I'm saying if they do it, this is what's going to happen. What the **** is your counter argument, I've yet to see one. Everyone gets all mad because I'm insinuating they don't have the freedom to do so, but no one has refuted my point that if you post the pictures, you run that goddamn risk.

But sure let's all go to oakland wearing gang colors cuz that's totally not a valid excuse for them to possibly mistake us for rival gang members and shoot us, thus it won't happen right?

So, you would not object if Oakland's government supported gang shootings at people wearing the wrong colored clothes because that is what the victims should have been expecting?

That wasn't my point at all, nice strawman though. Once again, I do not support the crime but you should take the realistic precautions to avoid it. Same reason you should, you know, lock your goddamn doors at night and possibly invest in a security system, yeah? Doesn't make the robbery ****ing legal or right, but hey keep ignoring that, that's cool.

You're right, whoever thought up that Oakland gang analogy was pretty stupid. I thought we were discussing how Reddit kept this section of the site which also coincidentally contained actual explicit child porn until quite recently.

Yes and I was saying that a lot of the content in that **** wouldn't be there if girls were a bit smarter with how they use facebook due to a statement about how guys take pictures of girls from there to get off to.

Thanks for calling me stupid btw. I'm pretty sure I could possibly get infracted if I outright called you stupid, yeah?

Hm, I feel like Reddit was definitely pressured by the media and public to shut down this jailbait thread. Hypothetically speaking, had Anderson Cooper not put this story out, do you think this thread would still be active?

I'm getting different stories, but from what I've heard...a user started actually posting child nudity, and that later resulted in PM exchanges between people. That also resulted in mods deleting his pics posted on the forum, and then they proceeded to shut down the subforum.

With that being said, if this wasn't such a hot topic, I wonder if they would have simply deleted the pics and let the thread stay open?

To me, that seems the most likely outcome, since it seems that Reddit doesn't have any form of a PR department. The majority of people are not internet savvy, and they will most likely now equate reddit with kiddie porn. Reddit needs to do some serious damage control now, and I predict even a site name change is possible.

i thought this was a good idea and i don't think basing the primary anti-structure argument around what reddits community has digressed too is very strong.

who cares what other communities have become, we aren't them, and we aren't so large that policing everything is out of the question

i thought it was a good point and the ideals in the OP were sound, and a perfect example of what he was pointing out (off topic nonsense) has been exhibited in this thread itself

not that i'd expect much more from you red name's though <3

Yeah, but the OP was boring. like, really boring. I would rather talk about watching paint dry than the technical merits of forums versus subreddits. I also don't think the topic of Reddit specifically and recent news about said company is that off-course from the OP anyways.

Actually, along a point about young girls taking provocative pictures. I mean, a large number of girls seem to take provocative pictures and post them up on Facebook which poses a number of promblems, namely:

If someone chooses to actively put themselves on sexual display, they are deemed as interested in and wanting sex, that simple. For a lot of people, namely your favourite set of internet creepers, this pretty much makes them feel absolved of any sort of guilt

Anybody can check Facebook, so well, it's not really private. \o_o/

They are young and advertising themselves sexually, that in and of itself is wrong, right? Most of society definitely seems to think so. Or conversely, maybe 16 isn't really very young, as for like 13/14, well they are horny but they're also kinda stupid, then again, stupid people deserve to be punished for stupidity. All in all, getting polished over by a bunch of paedos is better than getting ***** by a country mile.

Also, to your point about respect, it isn't anyone's duty to just automatically treat people with respect, especially when someone doesn't respect themselves. I dunno, maybe it's just what I've learned over the years, but generally people like to victimise those who behave in a certain way which they feel absolves them of wrongdoing, but in a hilarious twist of fate that most people seem to forget, these people also seem to have a conscience too. So, how I ended up here I have no idea, but anyway, I'm sick of people trying to protect these numbskull ****ing children.

I was a child recently, and being a young gay boy on the internet kinda... opens you up quite a lot to certain people

I never got *****

If I ever sent out risqué photos I acknowledged what might become of them

Never cared

Don't care now

Honestly, the only time I feel sorry for a teenager is if they're molested by a family member or like kidnapped, pinned down, and *****.

If they're for lack of a better term, seduced into intercourse, then decide to regret it/feel scarred by it, then they're an idiot and I have zero sympathy. Also before the tired argument of the second party isn't in any way responsible, only the abuser is. This is bull****, because in the game of LIFE, and not our stupid little false societal reality sphere, being a ****ing moron makes you culpable.

i can agree that talking about reddit as a whole and how it functions, is 'not that off course', but launching into the moral questions regarding a section of their site, it's content, and then veering off into what is and is not acceptable, morally, which will never reach an end of discussion because morals are arbitrary, is in my opinion, quite off course

i also find teran's initial response to some legitimate points pretty dismissive as a whole, and pretty much every post after that offering nothing but prejudice notions about other sites which use that format

in fact most of his arguments seem pretty childish, and it's funny to think that responsibility has been granted to someone who thinks because he never got ***** via the internet that no one else should have to either.

i don't understand how you can be so confident about your opinions, and be so young at the same time, oh wait yea i do cause i was once lol.
you need to second guess yourself more teran, stop being so confident in what you think you know, it'll shut you out to what actually is

I really don't get why it's hard to understand...

Obviously, young people should be allowed to post whatever they want on the internet.
Does that mean doing so is a good idea? No.
Does that mean that it won't increase the chances of negative consequences? No.

You can't always blame the victim, but to suggest, in this world where there are so many people and so many different situations, that some amount of blame should never fall on the victim is WAY more like excusiology than saying that it's sometimes partly the victims fault.

It's like yeah, I should be able to wear a shirt that says "**** crips. bloods 4 lyfe" and walk through crip territory without getting shot. Freedom of speech, expression, ect. Does that mean that if I do get shot, I carry none of the blame? Of course not. Suggesting that my actions had nothing to do with my getting shot is ridiculous and false.

Oh and Pi, I'm not gonna defend Teran cause I don't really care if you want to argue or call people names, but insulting somebody in the third person instead of addressing them directly just makes you look like a ****ing prick.
