Playable Mark? Didn't see that coming...

Blazing Sword focus as expected, but Mark's appearance is a nice surprise. At the same time, it kinda feels like Lyn is taking center stage again in this Duo alt because she is the only one who is speaking between the two.
  • First we have Young Hector, an armored axe unit who is built to be an enhanced version of his previous alts. His Valiant War Axe gives him Slaying and a few more effects when his HP is 25% or higher: an -6 Atk/Def debuff on the foe during combat, Guard, and damage reduction on himself by 30%. The weapon also inflicts a penalty on the foe's Atk calculated from the foe's max Special cooldown charge. He also comes with a new Special and a new personal A-skill. The new Special, Armored Beacon, is similar to Vital Astra and Godlike Reflexes, but this one has a focus on Def: a 40% damage reduction on the first hit by the foe with a 40% damage boost from himself. Ostia's Heart is his personal A-skill that has Distant Counter, healing, and an added -8 Atk/Def debuff. The rest of his base skill kit has Vengeful Fighter 4 and D/R Far Save 3.
  • Then we have Young Eliwood, a sword cavalier whose Fiery War Sword gives him Slaying along with a Spectrum effect that is based on how many bonuses he has, NFU, and damage reduction from the foe's first attack by 30% when he is near an ally or initiates combat. The rest of his base skill kit has Luna, the introduction of Spd/Def Clash 4, S/D Near Trace 3, and Inborn Idealism as his personal C-skill that gives a +6 boost to Atk/Spd/Def, Bonus Doubler, and Null Panic to himself and his ally with the highest attack when a beast or dragon unit is deployed (basically a better version of Legendary Eliwood's signature skill).
  • Next we have Young Rebecca as the 4-star demote. She is an infantry archer who comes with a Prf-weapon called the Gusty Wind Bow. It has Slaying and beast effective damage, a built-in Time's Pulse when she is 3 spaces away from an ally, Spectrum +5 and damage reduction (the latter based on whether she is facing a beast, cavalry, or flying foe), and a +7 damage effect. She also has Moonbow, Atk/Spd Finish 3, and Null Follow-up 3.
  • Finally, we have Young Mark+Lyn as the Duo unit. They are an infantry blue tome user whose Total War Tome has Slaying and various debuff effects on the foe: they include -5 on all the foe's stats, Sabotage, Stall, -5 on all foe's stats during combat (with a guaranteed follow-up attack for Young Mark+Lyn), and Guard negation when a penalty is active on nearby foes. They also have Iceberg, Remote Mirror, the new Sabotage A/R 3 B-skill that inflicts a -6 Atk/Res debuff on foes who have less Res than the unit with an additional penalty on both stats during combat based on the highest penalty on those stats, and Canto Control 3.
    • Their Duo skill grants Isolation, Guard, and Special cooldown count +2 on foes near the unit.
  • Young Lucius is the TT award unit and appears to be an infantry healer.
Pretty solid banner all around.

Playable Mark? Didn't see that coming...

Mark is finally here to complete the Avatar-vengers! I wonder if Mark will now appear on Choose your Legends 8 now that they are in Heroes, since I think Altina appeared in CYL after she was released as a Mythic.

Would've posted sooner, but my internet was being very slow yesterday night. Regardless, very excited to see Mark.

We certainly got a 2nd Arcane weapon for a same category quite fast. Alfred I think was only 3 months ago.

For those wondering/worrying if Arcane Luin will be better than Arcane Qiang for faster characters:
  • Both Luin and Qiang are more for different purposes. Luin is meant for straight SPD True damage while Qiang is more generalist in nature.
  • Qiang's most notable effect that Luin doesn't have is the Clash Breath(the extra +1 on Special per hit, like Steady Breath and etc) effect. Basically, Qiang is more useful for Galeforce and even if they lose their Omnibreaker(Guaranteed Follow-up and Negate Follow-up) to Null Follow Up, if their opponents don't have Guard, they can still counter with a Luna/Bonfire/Iceberg.
  • Luin does not have a Guaranteed Follow-up. Even if they get the Null Follow-up effect against a foe, if their SPD is not +5 higher than the foe's, they will be unable to follow-up.
  • A faster Qiang user can still take advantage of Omnibreaker against those with their own Omnibreaker since it counts as a pseudo-NFU and forces both parties to a SPD check. And for a fast Qiang user, they don't need to worry about Omnibreaker or Null Follow-up. And should a fast Qiang user go against a Luin user, Luin only gives NFU if they are faster than the opponent, so a Qiang user that is faster will force Omnibreaker onto a Luin user.
Basically, Luin does not replace Qiang for fast Spear users. They are both for different purposes. As mentioned, Qiang's effects makes it more useful for general purpose whereas Luin's main purpose appears to be for SPD True Damage. Qiang is more likely better for Galeforce as well, especially for Cavalry and Fliers with their lack of Special booster skills, but Luin could have potential for Infantry with Flashing Blade 4 and Galeforce.

FINALLY, more base Three Houses characters!

A lot of representation on the Blue Lions side with normal Felix, normal Sylvain, and normal Rhea finally summonable with Rearmed Ingrid bringing a new Arcane Lance for speedier unit. Glad that Felix finally makes Godlike Reflexes summonable outside of seasonal banners (along with Atk/Spd Finish). Rhea also introduces a new A-skill called Atk/Res Scowl 4 that grants a +7 boost to the unit's Atk and Res stats when the foe initiates combat or has 75% or higher HP along with a Guard effect based on conditions related to the foe's Special and the unit having very high Res. Rearmed Ingrid also provides a whooping Spectrum +8 for her unique Knightly Devotion skill (along with penalty neutralization and self-healing) with easy to trigger conditions.

I can see myself pulling from this banner since I am a Blue Lions kind of guy.

New Mode looks kinda cool. Was expecting Nerþuz to happen, what with Ganglot and Ascended Tiki being likely for the next Mythic Banner, making the Mythic a Blue character and Nerþuz was Blue. Interested in seeing what Alarm ATK/SPD does, especially with it's Canto effect. Considering Nerþuz is Cavalry, will Alarm ATK/SPD be for everybody like Rouse or will it be Cavalry and possibly Flier exclusive?

Aside from the new Mode, everything else is pretty standard. Golden Week, Nerþuz, Lif and L!Edelgard Remixes. Nothing else majorly impressive.

Meanwhile, poor Freyjr still doesn't have his normal alt summonable in Heroes despite his sister and his aunt being summonable in the game...

(Yes, I know Freyjr has a summer alt, but again, I'm focusing on just his normal alt).

Sort of disappointed that Chrom is the same move-type as Rearmed Lif, especially when we now have 3 Melee Cavalry, but very happy to see Anankos finally. And compared to Luin, Devourer is a straight-up upgrade over Eljudnir for SPD-based Heroes. It has everything the so-called "Godsword" build-type wants from a weapon. Damage Reduction, a Breath effect and NFU if faster than the opponent. Especially doesn't help Eljudnir that it only has the ATK/DEF Debuff for the opponent compared to the latter Omni-Stat buff, which really hurts a fast Eljudnir user when fighting against a Devourer user.

Also, Fallen Linus is our GHB character. Most likely his Morph form, but could also be him after Lloyd's death in the one route.

Well, it's not the first time, considering last year's Bridal Banner was about Roy's potential brides aside from Sue. Although in this case, it's just the ones who can only marry M!Robin and no other characters. Although it'd be noteworthy if Bridal Cordelia and Bridal Tharja made an appearance in the Paralogue story.

I dunno, but Duo Tiki just being Tiki and Tiki is hilarious
Possibly the closest to a "Same character Duo" we'll ever get, since Awakening Tiki has a bigger age gap than most of the other Aged-up variations like Ike, the Three House characters, etc. Probably also helps that Awakening Tiki has a different, more laid-back personality from Shadow Dragon Tiki.

But still, the door for same character duos has been opened up somewhat. The most likely possibility would probably be the Avatar characters, with the Male & Female version teaming up. Although it'd be rather funny if we got something like Lucina and "Marth" or Black Knight and Zelgius.

Was expecting Wings of Mercy 4 to happen after Escape Route 4 happened. While it doesn't have Canto, it does have a Guidance 4/"teleport to a space within 2 spaces of ally" effect, which is still a powerful effect, for allies under 60% HP. Not to mention it literally has the -3 DEF/RES for enemy, the opposite of Escape Route 4's -3 ATK/SPD.

Edit: That aside, they really want to avoid Legendary Male Corrin, don't they? :smash:

I'm honestly surprised that we got Legendary Hinoka before the likes of Takumi and Leo. Takumi and Leo felt like the next Fates royals that would get a Legendary alt considering how they are the runner-ups in plot importance of the Fates royals compared to their sisters, but with Hinoka getting a legendary, at least it opens the doors for them and their little sisters (and of course Camilla too) to get Legendary alts in the future.

I just wonder how they will distinguish Legendary Takumi from Legendary Hinoka. Hinoka is already using his bow for her legendary alt, so they would need to come up with some kind of fancy new name to distinguish it. I don't know, maybe "Almighty Fujin Yumi?" I'm no Owain/Odin, but just a random thought for a possible weapon name. They'd also need to make his bow have a fancier animation: maybe firing multiple arrows at once, or spinning around before he fires like his Fates attack animations?

I can only imagine.

New Binding Blade units:

So we have 2 versions for Null Follow-Up 4, a Physical version and a Magic version. And each one also takes away 50% damage reduction. Quite interested to see how effective they are.

And geez, they are really being slow on the next Engage Banner. Understandably, if this is the Midpoint Banner, it kinda makes sense to let another game go with the OC, since most likely, they would want to capitalise on the Engage Banner and Heidr would take a spot away from an Engage character. But geez, poor FE6, between the angry people waiting for another Engage Banner and the fact that this Banner is happening between the Fallen Banner and the Summer Banners, both of which usually get the money attention compared to the Banner in between.

-FE Engage fans still have to wait a bit. Hopefully, Engage is the next Banner for their sake.
-Fjorm's got a packed skill set and while Close Call 4 and Repel 4 are useful for retreating/crowd control, Spurn easily trumps both in terms of combat effects, with the fact that it can be used with both Vital Astra and Godlike Reflexes.
-Tharja with SPD/RES Far Trace 3 is great for a 4* Special unit.
-Boost skills finally come back and surprisingly, two effects I was hoping for a Tier 4 boost skill came true. Going from one stat to two stats and giving an HP Bonus. That said, was hoping for a Max HP > Foe's HP deal, which instead is above 50% HP, which is much steeper than 25%. But the +7 to both stats and Guard effect on both phases when 2 spaces from an ally with above 50% HP is decent. That aside, Eir and Ymir look great.
-Poor poor Donnel. Between being another Axe Infantry unit(like frickin' stop with the F2P Axe Infantry units, Intelligent Systems. He's our 5th one within this year), having a stat spread with very balanced stats rather than Min-max stats, having poor fodder and paling in popularity compared to the Banner units, only his biggest fans are going to do anything with him. Man, they really did him dirty.
Like the only real benefit he has is that he does have Trainee Stats, giving him a much higher BST of 195 compared to other recent Axe Infantry units. But until an Arcane Axe that works better with him comes out, he's certainly not going to be used over Hans, F!Shez, V!Effie or Fallen Linus.

Also, this is our first Summer Banner with exclusively females. Donnel is still a Male Summer Hero, but he's from the TT and not on the Banner.

Arcane Darkbow is a great option for SPD Cavalry, but Nastrond does have some notable benefits compared to Darkbow.
  • +5 to all stats compared to +6 ATK/SPD.
  • Damage reduction, which might be preferable to desperation in some cases. One would be if the desperation effect is neutralised. The other is if the character has no option of increasing their Special Charge per hit and they need to take the hit to activate their special. Obviously, Infantry and Armors have no issues with Special Charge, but while Fliers and Cavalry have access to Heavy Blade, we don't know if Flash Sparrow can be used by them, assuming Flash Sparrow needs either Flashing Blade 3 or Heavy Blade 3.
  • Nastrond can further increase the character's ATK from a min of 16 to a max of 22 for a total of +21 to +27 with the omni +5. Darkbow only has the +6 ATK, meaning that Darkbow will need the skills and back-up for extra ATK.
Basically, compared to Devourer and Eljudnir, where Devourer is the superior weapon for SPD Sword users, Darkbow isn't as much of an absolute must for SPD Cavalry compared to Nastrond. I think Darkbow is great for the Archers with high ATK and SPD while Nastrond is more of a must for the Archers with high SPD, but low ATK.

Well, can't say I expected this:

Some people didn't, but before his reveal, there was a datamine around when the new TT released and someone pointed out that Freyr's sprite had been changed. So some other people wondered the possibility of Freyr finally being released because of his sprite being changed.

New FE4 Heroes:

Not only is Ced our first male Ascendant Hero since Ascendant Joshua, but shockingly, all of the Male Units in the Banner and GHB have PRFs and are not demotes, with our only Female character that isn't Plumeria being the demote.
That said, I noticed there hasn't been a sign of another demote character and the TT character is normally not part of Forging Bonds. Which means either they forgot to show the other demote character alongside the other characters or Arion, our GHB, could be part of Forging Bonds. While GHBs are normally not part of Forging Bonds either, there was a very early exception with Aversa as she had her own FB alongside Loki, Owain and Kliff.

Edit: Patty is our unannounced Hero.
