Hello, if this isn't the correct place to post this I apologize.

I am new to the smash scene, I've played smash since 64 release but am new to competitive play. I've noticed in multiple fighting games that I have tried to play competitively activate fight or flight mode for me. Basically what I am referring to is a type of stress induced anxiety, maybe, that makes me feel a sinking feeling in the stomach and adrenaline. Feels like it's a response of adrenaline that happens when I'm trying so hard to win like giving it my all, or internally I'm thinking my pride is on the line (even if it isn't). Maybe I just need to relax and play competitively but just have fun and not care about the wins or losses? Sometimes it feels like an online match in sf4 is like I'm playing at EVO infront of thousands of people, when it's just a dumb match that means nothing win or lose.

This is a little embarrassing to talk about to be honest. I'm not looking for medical advice, I just want to see if any other smashers have dealt with this. If you have feel free to talk about it and how you deal(t) with it, it can be scary in extreme cases or just annoying because it can hinder your decision making in a match.

I think you're just nervous

I doubt it's Fight or Flight

Thanks, but it doesn't happen before the match. It usually only happens in clutch situations. It's like a mild panic attack adrenaline rush.
So yes the term fight or flight does fit the description, its a stress induced response. I just wanted people who maybe have the same problem to talk to about it with.
