Not what I meant, but he's certainly susceptible to them. All of his specials force him into helpless, the only character to have that trait.

You said that you kept "lagging into Smashes." Since MK is the 6th/7th fastest on the ground, and is very wide compared to his height, I can see this being a common happenstance.
