So because the English language is a Frankenstein of so many different languages you end up with a ton of excess words, some ancillary (< oooooh there's one), some being forgotten, some obsolete, or just really interesting words and everything in between.

I studied linguistics for a bit in College and was interested why societies deem a cuss word to be profanity (usually fricatives) but also equally fascinating is why some sounds in words are so pleasant, and how combinations of words can be pleasant.

So yea just share some words that you really like saying/using, or phrases, parts of poetry/lyrics, slang, made up words, names, etc.

Personally I love these words/phrases -

chortle
kerfuffle
is it isn't even
psychosomatic
prophylactic
sliprain
japed - japery
juke
titular
copacetic
alembic
hoopla
infamous
nonplussed
unawares
stoichiometry
loom
slovenly
coquettish
{name} Tortney (like Courtney with a T - from Jimmy Fallon. It makes me laugh every time I hear it.)

p.s.
As another example in Donnie Darko they talk about how the 2 words "cellar door" were described famously by an author for being the most aurally pleasing combination of words. I don't get it personally, but it was a thing for someone and many others I'm guessing.

Great words everyone!

I was reminded of some UK slang from your word choice "brilliant" E-Mann, I really like how they shorten it and say "brill" as in something or someone is brill.

Love most of the cockney rhyme slang too, like -
6s and 7s - meaning crazy or confusing
Porkie pies - term for telling lies
Blowing a Rasberry - originally meant to fart cause rasberry tart haha

Chuffed to bits
Knackered
Bits n' Bobs

The only words I really don't like from the UK are Bloody (this is their main cuss word over there), Crisps = Chips, and chips = Fries, and Ace = cool. Oh and to them fanny doesn't mean butt it means the female sexual organ, I find that odd.

The word differences are about as unique as Japanese and Okinawan.

I've started to use the word "mysterious" quite a bit, no idea why. I just like the sound I guess.

So this will probably become my most favourite thread ever, as I find fancy words rather fascinating. (<- great word)

Also:
intriguing
bootleg
prestidigitation (tbh no one is actually ever going to use this)
cease
bother (simple yet very wonderful)
intact
tubular and rad
naught
distasteful
And I'm sure that there were many more, until I tried to write them down.
Ah, also terminate.

duplicitous
stratosphere
naysay
predestined
clandestine
covert
covet
cudgel
isosceles
wallflower
stalwart
stoic
lossless
effervescent
affluent
belay
Mesozoic

Here's some more interesting 2 word combos -

Space time
Cease Fire

Wow they come out like a flood, I just keep remembering them in chunks.

For simply pronouncing a word, I tend to butcher existing words on purpose (such as saying "scary" as "scoory"), but if you're looking for the correct pronunciation I find the word "taco" rather fun to say.

And as for saying some in everyday conversation? I like using the word "indeed", as I tend to use that word when I agree with something.

The host on mXc (Ken Blankenship) had that same idiosyncrasy

I actually used to do the same thing, but now I say "agreed" instead, and I call everyone "Brother" like Desmond from Lost

I like "moist". My favorite combinations with "moist" are "I'm nice and moist" or "this makes me moist".

Oh how I could sit here and type all the big words I want. But as I sit in my journalism class and pondering which word I can say is my favorite, only one word come to mind...

"SLIMY"

As for my favorite phrase I will have to go with

"Super happy fun!"

  • "Stuffing is evil!"
  • "I love a multi-tasker..."
  • "But this is a uni-tasker..."

I don't even want context for "stuffing is evil." It is way more beautiful not hearing the phrase in It's original context.

This sounds so random, but I find "broken", "top 2", and "potential" amusing just to name a few.

Idk. I'm weird.

I often use the following terms: presumptuous, mediocre, heinous, vapid, extol, and cauldron.
The phrase "(insert number here) ounces, by weight, of (insert ingredient here), okay" I use a lot, too.

One phrase that I've never heard used in a way that is actually accurate: "same difference"

The only possible way that this could be applicable is if two or more things differ from some other thing in the same way. An example being: "Milkshakes and smoothies differ from more liquid beverages in the same way. Therefore, the main difference between Milkshakes and liquid beverages and the main difference between smoothies and liquid beverages are in fact the same difference"
