Fair/Nair combo into Jab Lock.

Okay, So i know the topic of Jab locking has been covered multiple times before. Infact, i saw one that consisted of 5 posts total, it made me sad. But i have sat down and looked up the percents for every character and the easiest way to combo into a jab lock. The only way they can escape is with DI backwards, or by teching the ground, but it's still a useful technique obviously. If you get a good read on the opponent you can punish with a grab(for techs). These are the characters and their percents.

For the Fair you want to have the tip hit the upper half of the opponents body. For nair, you need to hit with the opening frames for the knockback. If you dont it will not trigger a fall. With larger characters i have been able to combo into rest, but for smaller characters Fsmash works the best.

NOTE: The percents given represent the optimal timing. Fast Falling after the aerial is def recommended. The Lower the percent the better.
Discuss Please :D

I didn't want to record all the characters, that'd be obnoxious. So i picked different weights.

Nice work man... this is definitely worth knowing, since opponents missing the tech is more common than you would think. Not everyone is expecting to have to tech these moves either.

Thanks guys. i feel like jab locking is defintely a technique that Jigglypouff should be able to use more, but it's so hard to get into the position. I stumbled upon this yesterday, and last night i decided to sit down and see what percents it works on. Does anyone have ideas for good ways to end the jab lock? Ive found tat rest only works when the opponents hurtbox is already in you, such as Snake's legs when he's facing away from you.

Rest is definitely guaranteed no matter where your opponent ends up. The only thing is, at the percents this setup works, it's unlikely that the jab lock will take them to high enough percents for Rest to KO, which means it's probably not worth it. I would probably charge a d-smash or something once they reach the edge of the stage, since it could put them in a good position to be edgeguarded.

The problems I see with your numbers is that they're based in Training Mode, and that our Fair/Nair must be fresh, which often isn't the case in a fair share of our match ups. I've no idea how drastically a staled Fair/Nair would affect the percents, but it should be considered when making a list like this.

Oh that's a good point.

The multiplier in Training Mode is fixed at x1.00. Fresh moves in the actual game are at x1.05, while stales moves make it lower that x1.00.

tbh I've looked into this but wasn't sure if people would take me seriously.. glad you made a thread though. I just wanted to note that the jablock is escapable with SDI, so always be on the lookout for when they get out. Even if they tech you can punish too. Tech in place> grab, tech roll > dash attack or dash grab.

Try looking into bair, dash attack, fsmash, and ftilt too. I forgot how well each of them sets up jab lock but they can all set up a tech chase. I can test them out later but busy atm

Are those percents for the downtilted f-tilt wall lock i discovered a year ago? No one has discussed jiggly's wall lock in quite a while so i'm curious if anyone remembers me posting about it or if its common knowledge now...she can wall lock mk to like 70-90% btw...which is really useful on stages like PS1

No, they're the percents that I tested out personally to contribute to the board for the first time when I came here in December under Veril and Alex's discretion. Also, whether or not the tilts are angled has no effect on any of the percentages listed.

Yeah, it is based on fresh moves. But you can't really base the percents off of the stale moves you know?
I just worked with what i got :3

lol there's no way I'm going to remember all of this anyways, all you really have to know is that it works at about 20% for fair and 50% for nair.

Well, you can, but it'd take a bit more testing.

True. But, i dont have time currently. Maybe i'll come back around to it. lol.
This is a good starting point i feel. I dont know how useful and how many options youll have to do this in game, but it's a good place to start.
