Now, I'm not saying it changes anything technically, but I've started noticing that when characters are facing each other, their head and/or eyes are towards the other one.
I was noticing this with the new stage pictures and started looking at other pictures. Then there was this, to help support my theory.
Samus looks at Kirby
Pikachu looks left
then Pikachu looks up
Pits looking at each other
Metaknight look up
Mario looks back
To support it's not him turning around, Mario looks back while running. Note this is before the picture:
ACK!
What is Dedede looking at? Something in front of him, but slightly above
Oh...I see
Samus looks upwards
Mario looks down. He nearly never looks down. Squirtle is the only character shorter than him. It's also worth noting that the Pokemon Trainer ALWAYS looks at his pokemon. Maybe that's where all this started from.
It's interesting, is all I'm saying. Don't think I'm looking for game changing mechanics. It's not completely unheard of. I know in Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Link's head turns and he looks at different things (people, items, enemies, secrets, etc). It doesn't seem to be the case with taunts (not surprised though)

Pit is behind Mario, offscreen. (note the tree and the rock with yellow flowers in the background)![]()
Basically, it is the same as a standard Smash brawl, so if you take damage and get knocked off the screen, you lose a life.
However, this mode features a space jump that allows Player 2 to return to where Player 1 is even after getting left off the screen.
If Player 2 gets separated from Player 1 by the screen scroll, he or she will quickly space jump back to Player 1's side. But, if Player 2 gets knocked off the screen by an enemy, that counts as a lost life.
