EVO 2017 to be in Vegas' Mandalay Bay for its Entire Duration


EVO 2017, the latest installment of the premiere global fighting game event series, has had its official venue and dates announced. This year, event will take place all weekend of July 14th to 16th in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay for all three days.

The trailer has been released for the event, and the trailer contains several moments from Super Smash Bros Wii U and Melee, along with Street Fighter V and Guilty Gear XRD among others.

EVO has been a fundamental part of the fighting game community, coming from its humble beginnings as a 40-man Street Fighter tournament back in 1996. The tournament series has housed Melee, Brawl, and Smash Wii U under its roof.

I really hope that Smash gets enough entrants to warrent an ESPN broadcast like Street Fighter had this year, or at least something on TV. I feel like that was a massive step forward for the FGC as a whole, to be featured on such a massive channel, and it would be fantastic to see Smash up there.
