Thread that leads to some videos of my Marth.

Ignore the "occasional" bad move choice/ spacing. lol

Just kinda ****ing around with a friend, but I'd still like to see what you guys think.

Articanus is you? Nice Marth dude. Can't really critique cause that Ganon doesn't look like much of a challenge for you but you definitely got style.

I approve of the on stage dairs. ****'s too good.

really. help

I feel I'm pretty qualified on this one, since I use Marth and like 80% of my practice is against my friend who plays a good Falco.

In my experience, Marth is pretty good against Falco mainly because Marth is so good at edge guarding and Falco is so bad at getting back to the ledge. Basically, if you can get him off the ledge with a throw, neutral air, smash, whatever, then you should kill him most of the time. It doesnt really matter what you do. I use counter the first couple times when he is pretty close to the ledge. When I get him a little farther, when its easier to predict the timing, I start using either smash or down tilt.

Basically, for your offensive game, you want it to involve alot of grabs. Falco isnt too tough to grab, especially if you shield grab off his aerials. Marths awesome grab range makes for a fairly easy time here. If you are approaching him though, always approach aerially because SHB will make the crawl towards him on the ground with shield and rolling a nightmare.

also he needs to play more defensive , falco always has enough frames on marth do to whatever he wants.

I think the best thing for your friend to learn is what he can do oos

Falco isn't easy to grab....and you can't grab his aerials unless it is a weak dair/nair

to be fair i'm not quite on PPMDs level of spacing shield pressure, so telling him to shield grab aerials isn't necessarily bad advice

Who wants spacing tips against jiggs? ask me anything.
watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTxHBke9baU

also this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_i9SKCbfHY&feature=related

you can ignore the fact that he goes falcon sometimes. >_>
Sure, I can use whatever tips against Jiggs you have.
Also, I notice whenever you're hit off you like to double jump and land on the stage instead of trying to grab the edge. Is that your preference? Or more of a vs jiggs thing?

the only way to land on stage safely vs jiggs and not get rested is to double jump or airdodge on. if you up b and don't get ledge or a platform you're guaranteed to get rest off a good puff.

Mar.....More Dash Dance. Way More Dash Dance
Aber's right. But don't dash dance for the sake of it. Dash dance to make it unpredictable when you are going to grab or to make them think you're going to grab/approach.
Basically, if you're trying to close up distance b/w you and the other person because they're out of Marth's range, dash dance. Or not. You could just stay where you are because Marth does a better job covering approaches than most if not all characters.
I can't explain as well when to dash dance when they are close/in-range, but sometimes it looks like you're just walking over to 'em.

In the vs fox matchup: Noooo side-b'ing that high above and close to the stage.
1:11 Crouch cancel?
2:12 Very nice spacing. Pressuring that fox to let go of the ledge while keeping yourself out of shinespike range.
2:30 Fsmash after upair! C'mon man! haha
Also, try for yourself how you like covering the platforms with shffl upairs instead of utilts and fsmashes. Shffl upairs allow you to get there faster while the upair covers more of the platform.

Vs Sheik/Zelda:
I don't like approaching zelda. ><
I let her come to me and punish her approaches. Cause she can just keeps punishing your approaches with her twinkly toes. Toe outta shield, toe vs fair, etc.
When you get a grab on sheik at high percents, either throw her off the stage or try to tech chase her into another grab so you can throw her off the stage or fsmash.
The very last stock, when someone's crouching at the edge of the stage like that, don't attack 'em. I do it and it's tempting but don't..

the only way to land on stage safely vs jiggs and not get rested is to double jump or airdodge on. if you up b and don't get ledge or a platform you're guaranteed to get rest off a good puff.
I seee.
So even if you're back-throwed off at an early percent you prefer double jumping and landing on the stage instead of trying to grab the edge with a sweetspot double jump?

Vs aggressive rest-capable puffs getting back ONSTAGE and away from her is your best option, i wouldn't know vs super campy puffs like hbox....

I didn't even have to watch that far into the vid...he was pushing you to the ledge hardcore like the first 3 mins of the first match and you could have totally wrecked his l cancels with light shields.
Honestly when you good marths want critique its just one tiny thing here or there, us mediocre guys just can't hang.
