Oh yeah, am I the only one that feels it may better for the thread to open the day after thanksgiving?

Thoughts?
I forgot that existed, honestly, I'll think about it. If enough people aren't going to be around for it then I'd probably delay restarting for the day.

Z25 Z25 Here's what I mentioned to you.

Here's Ryu near the start of Day 3. I'm listed as Ryu's #2 lynch.

Then:

This is directed at me later the same day. I respond to Ryu by quoting my post about you from an hour prior.

To Joey.

Ryu unvotes Z25.

Reasoning, next day. It's 11:28.

11:53.

12:42.

12:47.

1:02.

1:10.

1:15. The Nabe wagon starts here. At this point Ryu should be looking towards players who are around to climb aboard. And whether he's in-thread or away, he could also make a bet that every player will show up at least once before deadline, and tag people ahead of time mentioning me and his case about me.

1:18. Two votes.

1:21. There's the initial three votes.

Joey posts at 1:33, 1:40, 1:46.

1:46.

Ryker at 1:56, "I don't mind the Nabe direction @Funk".

2:14, liked by Ryker.

2:19.

This post is at 2:41. So Joey and Ryker have been floating around for an hour at this point.

2:50 and 2:52. Ryu isn't making a rally or trying to grab any players who are nearby. He's not posting any tags either. So by making this post at 2:52, what Ryu is actually doing is committing to swapping to the main wagon at deadline, which will be Soup.

Z25 votes Soup at 2:56. Joey asks Z at 3:08, "Why Soup over Nabe?" Z's response at 3:21 gives reasoning for Soup, but doesn't rule me out in any respect. At 3:36, Z confirms that he will be here at deadline.

3:21, Ryker says the scumteam likely contains one of Nabe/Ryu.
3:40, Funk says Soup and Nabe lynches are on equal footing. 4:23 is Funk's unvote to avoid voting shenanigans.

4:29. (I can't figure out why you keep saying, "I can't hold Nabe to anything" rather than "Nabe hasn't mentioned any stances" but whatever.)

4:30. At this point there was actually a half-hour left, but regardless of how much time he thought there was, in reality there was ample time to make a Nabe lynch happen since he began the wagon. Ryu wouldn't have started the wagon to begin with if he hadn't thought there was room to make it happen.
I'll address this.

Yeah Red Ryu hasn't exactly liked me, but most of this thread hasn't. I'll be honest that I can't use that to justify my reads. Out of the pool though, I did say he'd be my second choice for the lynch today.

Before I move on. I'm honestly going to just not touch soup due to the time left. Plus hes gone so it doesn't make a difference imo.

I fully trust disfunk and find his points fair.

Your other analysis are interesting and Ryu has been switching plays a lot. So its something worth considering in future, but we've had a lot of vote switching so my reads based on just votes aren't that great.

I'd write up more but it won't be done before the deadline.

When I lynched.

Please consider Laundry, Joey, and Nabe. It makes a lot of sense and with the former 2 going all in on me, I hope you lynch one of them.

I really think that's the scum team. Anyway good luck, but honestly this will be tough for town to win based on my observations.

Let's hope I'm right in the gravyard pm. That should be a fun read.

Current vote count (as of post #1798):
  • Ryker: 0
  • KY Joey: 2 (Disfunkshunal, Z25)
  • Red Ryu: 2 (Nabe, Ryker)
  • Z25: 3 (KY Joey, Red Ryu, Laundry)

Not currently voting: Kantrip

15 minutes remain in this phase.
With 8 players alive, it takes 5 votes to lynch.

Remember that only the four players listed above may be voted for in this phase! Votes for other players will not count.

I hate all of these wagons lmao

I wouldn't want to trust a possible scumRuy for a last second switch.

Z25 Z25 your options are vote Ruy or die in the next 2 minutes or so.

Hm..last time this choice was given to me, it was setup.

But sure why not I'm curious where this goes.

As there is a tie on a nomination day, both #HBC | Red Ryu #HBC | Red Ryu and Z25 Z25 are lynched.

Landsknecht

Swordfighters skilled at melee attacks with swords or rapiers. They take the lead, raising the rest of the party's morale.
Weapons: Swords, Rapiers
Heavy melee attackers on the front line.

You are the party's Landsknecht! Lands-what? Landshark? ...No. It's a German word, don't worry too much about it. All you need to know is that you're the party's main melee damage dealer. They'll be relying on you to be the vanguard of their attack on the FOEs here too, so you'd better hope your words are as sharp as your swords.

== Party Member ==
  • You have no special abilities of your own - only your voice and your vote.
  • Note that on even-numbered days, you can only vote for the players nominated by the FOEs, who will be named by the host at the start of those days.
  • You are aligned with the Party.
  • You win when all threats to the party have been defeated.

Farmer

These farmers seek to apply their wisdom to navigating the Labyrinth despite their clumsiness in battle.
Exploration specialists of the back line.

You are the party's humble Farmer, and you're... completely useless in battle, actually. Sorry. Instead you prefer to focus your efforts on gathering food and materials for the party. Maybe you can adapt these skills to gathering information instead?

== Party Member ==

  • You are aligned with the Party.
  • You win when all threats to the party have been defeated.

Suddenly, the monsters had the party on the ropes. Only three brave explorers remained standing:
Medic

Healers who treat the party's wounds. Their combat skill is limited, but they are highly useful regardless.
Special Skill: Healing
Curative specialists best placed on the back line.

You are the party's Medic! As the name suggests, your main role is to provide healing to the party - but there are no Docs in this game, so... Also unsurprisingly, you're pretty frail defensively. Hopefully your teammates will be able to protect you.

Sovereign

Those of royal blood from kingdoms large and small. Their orders raise morale to turn the tide.
Special Skill: Order
Supporting combatants on either line.

You are the party's Sovereign, a fabulous warrior of royal blood who uses their Orders to enlighten and enliven their allies. So feel free to boss people about a bit; it is your birthright, after all. But don't get too confident - cockiness often leads to a sticky end in the Labyrinth.

Troubadour

They strive to support their allies with songs and dance. Their true strength is the ability to bolster the party.
Special Skill: Balladry
Support specialists on either line.

You are the party's Troubadour! With your songs and dances, you're charged with keeping the party's morale high at all times. You're welcome to throw in a few rhymes when making your arguments here for extra style points, but I'm afraid they'll only help you so much here.

But these were no ordinary monsters - these were F.O.E.s, the most powerful of them all:
Bloodbear

A vicious bear whose fur is matted with blood. It is vulnerable while readying a deadly strike.

You are the Bloodbear - one of the first FOEs encountered by explorers venturing out from the city of Tharsis. When you first met a group of new explorers, all you wanted was to be friendly and welcome them to the Labyrinth with a bear hug - sadly, you forgot your own strength, and... let's just say it didn't go so well. Ever since then you've gained a reputation as a fearsome beast who crushes victims for sport. Well, if they want a villain, why not give them a villain?

== F.O.E.! ==
  • You have no special abilities of your own - only your voice and your vote.
  • On odd-numbered days, you and your fellow FOEs may nominate a number of players, and those players will be the only players who may be voted for on the following even-numbered phase. See the "Nominations" section for more details.
  • You are aligned with the FOEs.
  • You win when the FOEs equal 50% or more of the remaining players.

Imperial

Loyal knights who use a unique drive blade. Attacks with it can be devastating, but place a heavy burden on its inner workings.
Weapon: Drive Blade
Front-line elemental melee fighters.

You are the party's Imperial, a knight who wields the powerful Drive Blade. It's just a massive ****ing sword that explodes anything you hit with it. Nothing too interesting, right? But it's of no use to you here. Sorry. In this Labyrinth, you need brains more than brawn.

== Party Member ==
  • You have no special abilities of your own - only your voice and your vote.
  • Note that on even-numbered days, you can only vote for the players nominated by the FOEs, who will be named by the host at the start of those days.
  • You are aligned with the Party.
  • You win when all threats to the party have been defeated.
Ragelope

An extremely aggressive horned monster whose uncontrollable fury gives it lethal strength.

You are the Ragelope - the first FOE most explorers ever encounter. At heart, you're really just a cute little deer, bounding around the forest, but when you see those explorers strolling around like they own the place, it just makes you so... angry! To think, one of them even tried to pet you! Disgusting. You'll show them that nothing is as simple as it seems in the Labyrinth.

== F.O.E.! ==

Ronin

Foreign masters of the art of bushido. They see death as part of life, and so neglect defence in favour of offence.
Weapon: Katana
Vigorous attackers on the front line.

You are the party's Ronin! A master of the katana from a far and distant land, you come to the Labyrinth seeking only to become stronger. You have little concern for your own safety, but here you've got to work together with your allies, so don't get too reckless, okay?

== Party Member ==

  • You are aligned with the Party.
  • You win when all threats to the party have been defeated.
Toxipede

A giant caterpillar that guards its territory by poisoning its prey with its venomous mandibles.

You are the Toxipede - a massive caterpillar-like FOE who shuffles around the Labyrinth along a fixed path, guarding your territory harmlessly - until one day when a group of heartless explorers will come along and cut you down so they can continue on their way. How could they? Time for you to claim your revenge on them.

  • You win when the FOEs equal 50% or more of the remaining players.

Gunner

Versatile bearers of firearms. Able to attack, bind, and heal according to the situation.
Weapon: Gun
Long-range attackers of the back line.

You are the party's Gunner! You use a gun! Awesome, right? But you can't use it here. Too bad for you. Usually you can use your gun for multiple effects, from shooting enemies' limbs to bind them, to shooting allies to heal them. But you can't use it here. No vigilantes allowed.

...It was over in a flash. The three monsters teamed up to unleash all their might upon the party in a single burst...

...
...

"Agh! I can't finish a game like this!"

"You lost because you let your Protector die right at the start again, silly. Maybe next time, focus a bit more attention on keeping them alive so they can actually, you know, protect people?"

"...This game sucks. It's way too difficult for me. It's a relic! What sort of game makes you draw your own maps, anyway?"

"But you were playing on Picnic mode, and you couldn't even take out a single monster?"

"They were really strong, okay? They got my party in a corner, and..."

"Oh, will you be quiet? Listen, this isn't some game just for people who like to show off their thinking skills. those damn elitists You need... what's it called? ...Aha! Brain training! So yeah. Go train your brain some more. Try drawing more maps or something. If you don't get lost, then your adventure should go much more smoothly!"

"Brain training...? Hey, that's a great idea!"

"Yeah! You see? I know, we'll turn this into a game that other people can play too. Think of the possibilities! Putting the informed minority against the uninformed majority... Being forced to work with other players will revive people's dead interpersonal and deductive skills!"

"...Now you're starting to sound like the elitists..."
The F.O.E.s win! Congrats to Dooms Dooms #HBC | Nabe #HBC | Nabe #HBC | Ryker #HBC | Ryker !

How I beat all of you

Fair is fair.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=siuWZxDMGnk&feature=related
^Play this while you read.^

First off, the luck and lack thereof:

Lucky stuff:

The final double kill. I didn't even know it was a rule until it was mentioned in thread and we managed to get it set up quickly and efficiently and then execute. I'm proud of my team for that. There was a lot of adjustment when Disfunk showed up.

My V/LA lined up with the start of the game well. I was able to sit out most of the first day phase and tailor my reads with how the game had already shaped up.

Unlucky stuff:

The set-up.

Despite the result of this game, this set-up seems very stacked against Scum. Whenever a scum member dies, the town gains extra mislynches. Townblocks become very hard to deal with without confirming more townies in the process. Well positioned members can't even manage to win the game alone if there are too many mislynches because it becomes a situation where the lynchpool is lynched not based on who is scum and instead on where two "townies" want to lynch in the future. It's very hard with no direct night kill to manage player perspective to that degree.

Why I Exploded At Soup:

I'm still not actually mad at Soup, but I do believe we enter into this game with a social contract. I felt it breached, so I went nova at Soup, which I would normally never do. This allowed me to completely and utterly ignore the remainder of the phase and more if he isn't lynched. This is why you ignore AtE. It is far, faaaaaaar easier for scum to abuse than town. Don't abide it in future, it will only hurt you.

What happened with Z25:

Z25 was flawed on almost every read. It was unfortunate. His pushes were all easily deflected and the things he was right about were coincidental. Since everyone rolled their eyes at actually solving him, he became very easy to leave alive for the future. In fact, with a little bit of prodding, it was pretty simple to keep him looking at a Laundry mislynch.

On the subject of Laundry:

I never had to call him scum, but it was so simple to maneuver other people into doing it for me. I stood by him until the very end (where I still resolved to stand by him), but by asking other people their opinions on certain things, I managed to get most of the thread to continue to hate his slot without cause. He, himself, contributed to it when directed to Nabe's wagon analysis. With both of my mates setting him up to take the fall at some point (though later than he seemed to think), he became a pivotal point on which we could bank our success if we needed a two man victory and ceded me more control over the discourse as he fell out of public favor.

I hope you all read into this an insane amount so I can switch it up in future games to mess with you all.

looking back at it Z didn't play that bad at all

the graveyard at first didn't have the game spoiled but after my death Joey's interactions with Z REALLY made me suspicious of him (Joey) and Z was one of the first to suspect him, so kudos to him

Disco played really well this game, I think me and soup did good with how we were confident that at least one scum was nominated D1, it's a shame that I guessed two and BOTH were wrong LOL but I didn't think Laundry was genuine in his pushes (and I feel like that showed later on when he mostly sided with you on everything), and I already said stuff about Z

sorry Kantrip again, you weren't that scummy and I just got tunnel vision

As a whole town wasn't playing bad, they just didn't have much coordination imo

Joey you were so easy to predict as scum.

Overall, I don't mind the loss. It does annoy me that Nabe is on the winning team though. I'm pretty sure this phase alone he doubled his post count.
