I have an Elgato capture card and I was trying to get a Melee stream set up earlier but I was having an issue. I was using a Wii cable that had both composite and S Video, like so:

I had the composite outputs of this cable connected to the capture card's component adapter (which also accepts composite input), and the S Video output was connected to a female-to-female S Video adapter, which was connected to an S Video to composite adapter, which was plugged into the CRT.

On my computer, I saw that the capture card was accepting the input. However, the CRT was only displaying a really distorted, black and white image which was completely unusable.

My main question is this an issue with the S Video adapters connecting to the CRT? If so, I have ordered the Elgato composite adapter, which has an S Video input. I plan to use the Wii's S Video output for the capture card, and the composite output for the CRT, since I know they work. Would that work?

Maybe the cable can only output the video signal on one end although I think this shouldn't be the case. I guess worst case you can get yourself some RCA y-splitters like these and additional RCA cables. You can probably get them for a couple dollars at one of those huge electronics stores you guys have in the US.
