EGM to Have Brawl Filled Issue Next Month

I just got this month's issue of EGM (the January issue for anyone who may be looking for it) and in the back they have a preview for next month's issue. They claim that next month's issue (techinically the February issue, although it will come out January 15th) will "blow the lid off everything this stuffed-to-the-brim fantasy fighter has to offer, including its star studded character roster (Sonic! Solid Sanke! Ike! Wait... who's Ike?)." I don't know if this means that we'll be getting the full roster or the characters we already know about. Considering the issue comes out a little more than a week before the Japanese release of Brawl, we may already know the entire roster by then. If not, it isn't out of the realm of possibility that Sakurai would make the final announcement in EGM. It also claims that it will go in depth with all other aspects of the game such as online and single player mode, but I can't imagine EGM revealing much we don't already know about those modes. It should also be noted that although the issue says the next issue comes out January 15th, subscribers generally get it earlier than the on sale date (the January issue wasn't supposed to go on sale till December 18th but I got it today). I don't think this will be anything special. If a Japanese magazine didn't have new info, I doubt a rather mediocre American mag would for sure.

Based on the fact that they named a bunch of characters we've known about for a while and stated that they were going to talk about the different modes (which we know almost everything about) it makes me think you're right. The fact that it's so close to the japanese release makes me hopeful. I know I shouldn't be though...

I don't know how reliable they are (I won the subscription online for free), but I recall them revealing a new game for the first time. Maybe it was NiGHTS? I'm not really sure. I feel like they revealed something new. Either way, no one should get their hopes up, but it's still interesting to see if it'll be worthwhile.

Well the magazine don't say there's new info, so there's no new info.

It says they are revealing "its star-studded character roster" which could be interpreted multiple ways. My guess is that they're being so vague cause they don't actually have anything good, but there's always that small chance that they give new info... but I really wouldn't get your hopes up.

Eh, like with you guys. I really don't trust them. Muchless that I bet that they'll just slap on this update with everything we've known thus far in the Smash Dojo site.

how much more would a magazine like EGM to say then one that is supported by nintendo itself, like CoroCoro >.>

If you believe in EGM to deliver new info on Brawl then you must of also believed on the overly hyped DEC. 3rd UPDATE and the DEC. 15th ChoroChoro hype too meaning once again your goin to be dissapointed. Just cuz others may agree with me doesn't make unfaithful, it just means we already know what to expect. If we want new character info then we need to wait for Sakurai to update it on DOJO. That's it.........

Lawl EGM? I doubt they'll have anything.

I do want those covers though and it might be a nice guide to remember all that info we're given. I lol at EGM's Microsoft fanboyism though.

Sounds like it. Everything they mentioned in the preview is old information, and it sounds like they're just rehashing the Dojo announcements of the online with everyone/friend modes, stage creator, and Subspace Emissary, which makes me doubt the characters portion will be anything special either. Particularly considering we've had both CoroCoro and Nintendo Power pull this on us before, making it sound like they'd have new info and then just regurgitating Dojo info.

You obviously didn't catch the non-serious tone of my statement. I'm not expecting anything big out of this magazine because every other opportunity did prove a disappointment. You can't say you didn't get your hopes up a little bit for Coro Coro, especially after they said they would feature 30 characters...

No. EGM is the most reliable gaming source out there, it's my favorite gaming mag personally.

Some people STILL hold a grudge against them for the Sonic prank in SSBM, taking all accountability from them just because they got April Fool'ed. :ohwell:

I bet that any magazine that covers Brawl that comes out before January 24 will cover old Dojo stuff so this won't have new things.

You know why there is perfect reason to believe this? Because game's are released to sites that rate them prior to public releases. So, if Public Japam is getting the game Januar, 24, the reviewers would get the game about a week, or two before. So, that means they mght get it on the 10th, write their article on it, then publish their magazine.


P.S. They better mark spoilers on wherever they post a character not on the starting roster. Well, this is what I hope for unless Samurai Panda's Conspiracy Theoracy isn't true.

P.S.S. Nintendo Power will probably steal their thunder :p!

EGM is usually pretty good at giving interviews and some relatively new/interesting stuff, and by then it will almost be out in January anyway, so we might get some new screenshots or info.

I'm sure this will be mostly or entirely rehash. I'm still hoping there's at least a new screen or two, though I'm doubting even that.

Personally, if a magazine was gonna have all the info known and unknown of Brawl I would think it to be Nintendo Power not EGM, it will probably be another rehash story. Also seeing how it comes out on shelves Jan. 15 that means subscribers will get it around the 12th and that's a WHOLE MONTH of updates to be put on the Dojo. They may be revealing stuff that we don't know NOW, but I am sure that everything in that issue will be known by January 12th.

Yeah, I brought that up in the first post. It ends up coming out so close to the Japanese release of Brawl that it's entirely possible that there'll be nothing new to learn.

Seriously people, we already have a perfectly good source of info for Brawl: the Dojo. I doubt we will get new info anywhere else, but the Dojo.
