Well of all 3rd parties he's one with the strongest connections to Nintendo, even more so than Phoenix Wright as while both have had android and iOS releases, only Phoenix Wright has had Playstation releases.

Really, if it weren't for Level 5's troubles, he's probably be a front runner in the speculation scene.

Level 5’s troubles don’t really effect his chances of getting in when you realise the pass was decided on in 2018/2019 and the shutdown didn’t happen until late 2020

Depends on DST. Japan doesn't follow it so it can throw things off by one hour depending on the time of year.

Honestly I don't think the next character will come in a general direct anyway. I think they will make a big deal out of Ultimate ending and do a full on smash direct with lots of celebratipn related stuff.

I'm hoping. I do wonder if there'll be one last non-character update that comes along with the final character. Like making that 4 platform version of final destination from the Galeem/Darkon battle playable in normal matches for example.

So I guess they probably don't want the slightest bit of attention being diverted away from Dread? That's the only explanation I can think of. This month might not be of the table yet but I really feel like Nintendo's currently commited to this and we have to wait till mid-October this year.

It's main source is Samus Hunter who is known to piggy back from other leakers so this isn't reliable.
