Was offered a promotion at work. Only thing is that I hate the company and the promotion has a window of a week and a half before they find some other shmuck to take it. I've been working real hard to get out of this company because I despise it within every fiber of my being. I take the promotion and they ship me somewhere else, however I do that and I burn off my contacts at my old location meaning I lose the references I lined up to be called on move-over. Only thing is, I haven't done in-depth planning for other companies, much less interviews and I'm just waiting to take another stupid clearance exam to get my second license. Switching jobs will likely come up with a better pay, if it ever happens. However, given my experience with management hiring new people, it tends to be a whole lot of wait before they come to terms with accepting a completely new person on the team.

Why not take the promotion and still consider leaving the company. You know it'll take a while for other companies to possibly warm up to you. Sure you lose some contacts and some references, but you can get some else where, like from a teacher or coach or something.

I mean yeah you hate the place, but don't blow it off until you get a job somewhere else. The promotion isn't a commitment to the company.

I don't believe that you leaving for the promotion will burn off your contacts. You still have them, you just won't be with them. Just make sure to ask them now if you can use them as a reference, unless you can contact them later. I think it might make a good intermediate step, at least pay raise wise, to take the promotion until you can secure a job somewhere else. I guess it really depends on how quickly you think you can switch companies.

Also who even runs full offensive investment Ninetales? No one, that's who, and for a good reason.
