Hi,

I would like to purchase a computer solely 100% dedicated for melee netplay whether it be FM, Slippi or vanilla). I'm not too computer savvy so I'm looking for the community help. I would like to spend $1500 minimum and $2000 Maximum. I've read somewhere that for emulated games the CPU is more important than GPU so that's pretty much all I know. I'll be purchasing the PC from this website https://www.pbtech.co.nz/category/computers/pcs/gaming-pcs.
http://www.logicalincrements.com

If people could reccommend which PC would be best suited given the link and the price parameter, feel free to ask any questions.
Any tips or advice is good.

Thx

Yeah I'm not adept at building PC's, I am not technically savvy, I'd rather just buy it from that website already all constructed.
And surely not? $300 just sounds too cheap, it will probably be skippy and laggy which I'm really trying to avoid. Appreciated though.

yeh i may just build it then but i dont mind spending in the 1.5k - 2k range as this money is dedicated for a melee only pc, so i'd like the best for the amount i'm spending pre-built or not. if its only a saving of 200-300 dollars then i dont mind having someone build and assemble it for me as the place im going to specialize in this type of stuff and is quite reasonably priced. few hunderd bucks here and there is nothing for me, can make that money easy.

I don't know about this kind of stuff but I can believe the guy saying you only need a $300 built PC. A good computer isn't the only variable. I have a great PC but that doesn't matter when my connection is average.
$300 is fine for a game from 2001 don't act like it's Overwatch

I reccomend spending like $600 on a PC, because you really don't need much to run melee. If you want like the best possible graphics, $600 is great for that but if you just want 60fps, then even a $400 would do fine. If you plan on doing lots of netplay, I'd focus more on upgrading your connection more, as that is more important than the PC you would use.

I would go to a pc gaming forum for better advice. I've heard those APU chips have poor performance so getting more opinions from people who spend time building PCs as a hobby would have better insight on the subject.

Do you prefer a desktop? I actually have a $1000 laptop that is 3 pounds and plays netplay pretty dang well.

Those APUs are actually very good for the price. A 2200g will run Melee at 60 FPS.

It's not worth dishing out an entire gaming PC worth over $1000+ just to solely play a single Gamecube game with the Dolphin emulator unless you decide to play other games alongside Melee. Wouldn't really make sense for you to do that, so just focus on just getting better performance and maybe even room to be able to play with enhancements via the Graphics options of Dolphin as long as you are able to run Melee at 60 fps with a decent connection.

Managed to obtain an i7-4770 3.40Ghz, 16GB Ram DDR3, Nvidia Geforce 970 4GB for far less than what I was willing to spend and it runs great!

Thx!

If you're willing to spend more on your computer, I highly suggest getting the AMD Ryzen 9 3950X. I read about it for the first time on the 10roar.com website and ended up buying it. The thing that makes it so unique is its performance powerhouse, along with the fact that it's cheaper than HEDT. I bought it for around 900$, but I believe the costs can even reach 1200$. It's less expensive than what you're looking for but totally worth it. If you want something even more expensive, try out the AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, which many reviewers consider the best one.
