Delta Airlines Outage Affects Japanese Smash Con Participants

Super Smash Con 2016 is set to be the largest Super Smash Bros. tournament of all time. Players from all over the world are travelling out to Virginia prove their skills in the series’ first title. Considering Japan is widely thought of to be the best region for it, it’s understandable that the community-at-large is excited to see a large number of its top players compete at this particular event.

As of August 8, however, outages in Delta Airlines’ systems might make what was to be a dream tournament less so. Bonobono, Prince and Kurabba, top players from the region, have had their flights affected by the aforementioned outages.

In response to this newfound hurdle, a group of community members are taking matters into their own hands:

“Bonobono has had his flight affected since it is today so we are holding a last-minute fundraiser for $1000 to get him on another flight ASAP,” said Zeminos on Reddit. “Prince and Kurabba will possibly be affected since their flights are tomorrow. It is not confirmed for them just yet.”

This is an unfortunate situation to all those involved. We can only hope for the best moving forward. Donations to the official community fund are currently open on the ‘administrator@onlinessb.com’ PayPal account.
