After running it by

Both Marvel and DC have a long history with fighting games (Marvel with various Capcom fighters; DC with Netherrealm-made games, along with other titles like Blizzard's "Justice League Task Force"), so there's plenty of video game adaptations to draw from for those two companies to make it easier to picture what the characters could do in a fighting game, or we could go in a different direction and try to include characters and stages that weren't in any pre-existing games.
Either way, Marvel and DC both have a long history of building a ton of different and beloved series and adaptations, and even crossing over several times in the comics. (aside from the issue pictured above, there's also Kurt Busiek and George Perez's "JLA/Avengers" mini-series, among other examples) I'm honestly surprised that they haven't crossed over in video game form yet, and while I don't know how likely it is that it will happen, we've always got hypothetical/"What-If" threads like this.

As tempting as it is to go with a bunch of characters, I figured I should go with three picks each to limit myself. DC's seemed incredibly obvious (Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman - easily the most recognizable out of DC's heroes), but for Marvel, I had a tough time with picking three. Spider-Man objectively has to be in here, but there were a few characters that I was debating between for the second and third spots. I went with Wolverine because he's consistently been the most recognizable of the X-Men, and Iron Man because he was pretty much the face of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the past decade or more.

Gameplay Details:
-a one-on-one fighter, similar to Street Fighter II or the Injustice games
My suggestion considering the type of public that this game would appeal is a 3 button based with light, medium and heavy attacks independent of the existence of punches and kicks, I would like a more complex button selection but I think we should have a quite more easier layout. The fourth remaining button could be a unique action or a launcher (depends of how much fast-paced this game should be)
Definitively I think there it shouldn't be too much complex motions (like 360's and of course definitively no pretzels and other type of things), yet I think we could have charged inputs, the super moves could be either a QCF or a QCB twice or the MvC system of make a single motion but pressing two buttons (unless we add EX moves, because it would overlap themselves).
As for arcade, nine fights seems like a nice number - seven fights against random opponents, a rival battle with a cutscene beforehand (though there could be several possible options for each character - for example, Batman's rival battle could either be the Joker or Captain America), and a final boss fight, followed by an ending cutscene.
The arcade mode should work similarly to SF games, where we also include bonus stages between fights.
Bonus Stages:Considering the nature of the game, I think this is the best option for a boss:

THANOSEID
Ok WTF is this dude?, well, it's time for a mini history lesson, in 1996 Marvel Comics and DC Comics decided to collaborate in a crossover between their characters in a event properly called Marvel Comics vs DC/DC vs Marvel Comics, during this particular story their universes merges into one creating the Amalgam Universe where known characters from both editorials gets fused creating things like, well, Spider Boy, Iron Lantern, Super-Soldier, Dark Claw, Speed Demon, Dr. Strangefate and of course, Thanoseid that of course is a fusion between Thanos and Darkseid using the Infinity Stones and the Anti-Life Equation.
In terms of gameplay considering the inevitable appearance of both villains in the roster (especially if this idea wins) I think something like Shin Akuma/God Rugal in CVS2 would be curious, depending of the boss you defeat the other would absorb them and became one, technically having two different Thanoseid, one having more traits of Thanos' abilities and the other of Darkseid's.
The quality of the Amalgam Universe is....questionable to say the least but it's an interesting concept that I think we can retake and make it better here.
-Car Smash - much like in Street Fighter II, your character destroys a car - in this case, it's the Shocker's Shocker-Mobile.
-Horde Battle - fight waves of Parademons or Doombots; see how many you can defeat within the time limit. (they're much weaker than regular fighters)
Story Mode: Infinity Crisis!
Sick of being defeated by the Avengers and the Justice Legaue, Darkseid and Thanos's quests for the Infinity Stones and the Anti-Life Equation has led them to the same point in space time. This causes the Multiverse to split open as the Marvel and DC universe begin to fuse. During the madness of the merger, heroes and villains alike clash as they blame each other for the disturbance. But everyone must put aside their differences, as Metron appears before the heroes of the two worlds. The events have caused the two intergalactic tyrants to fuse, becoming the terrifying Thanoseid! He now seeks to rule his new universe. The heroes of both worlds must gather together to stop him.
A slightly generic, but big and bombastic story.
Would be a cinematic story mode much like the Injustice and Mortal Kombat ones, high quality cutsences with fights to back them up. Darkseid and Thanos don't actually need to be playable, though we proablly will add them at some point.

Action Figures

(It's an example btw)
Action figures would be like trophies from Smash, but you could move their limbs (And also pose them whatever you want).
Also you could collect them like trophies. They range from iconic Marvel characters to obscure ones.
The figures are 11 cm long.

My default answer usually, but it is one that has some legacy with Marvel and, to an extent, DC. This image I'm using, for example, looks tailor-made to present all the characters and concepts easily. That series even included a few teams, team-ups, items, etc., so whatever could be covered in Smash Bros. trophies could also easily be covered here, as well.

DC vs. Marvel: Infinity Crisis interactions

Job 1: how many characters should be in this?
This seems pretty self-explanatory, though keep it reasonable; while I'm sure that people could come up with 200 character rosters, that seems like an excessive amount, to say the least. Ideally, it should be an even number, since I'm hoping to have an equal amount of Marvel and DC characters - we don't want a Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite situation where the two sides are imbalanced for no apparent reason.
Job 2: nominate a member of the Justice League
List of Justice League members - Wikipedia

I'll try to mix a fun job in with the more detail-oriented jobs; in my experience as a thread-runner and a participant, people mainly care about character nominations for these kinds of threads. The Justice League is a broad category (it basically encompasses every superhero in DC at one point or another, or at least it seems that way), so there are a lot of directions that we could take this prompt, from beloved heroes like the Flash or Green Lantern to lesser-known picks like Zauriel.
Job 3: nominate a member of the Avengers

List of Avengers members - Wikipedia

I'm not sure if I'll have two character jobs at once (one Marvel and one DC) or if I'll space them out and do one at a time going forward, but as it's the first day, I wanted to start things off with a bang. (and make the first set of nominations accessible even if people are only familiar with one of the two companies) The Marvel Cinematic Universe has made the Avengers, and many of its members, into household names, and it was tough to narrow it down to Iron Man over many of the other heroes who have been associated with the team in the past and present. However, you don't have to stick to the MCU; any member is fair game.
---
I'll save my nominations for towards the end of the nomination period, to give everyone else time to make suggestions rather than taking one of the obvious picks right off the bat by virtue of being the one who's running the thread. Depending on the amount of nominations, there might be more than one addition for a category; I'll wait and see how popular/busy this thread gets.
I'll try to make each job last about 24 hours (starting a new one around 1 or 2 pm Eastern time, give or take, depending on my schedule), though if I have to extend a job, I'll let everyone know.
For any of these jobs, try to include a reason for your nomination, or in the case of a character or stage, a description of who/what they are, what could make them an interesting choice, etc. Some picks might seem obvious, but not everyone is going to be familiar with all of the characters, so it helps to provide a description and show passion about what you're suggesting. We'll decide on gameplay and a title later, likely tomorrow for at least one of those, but I wanted to get an idea of what the size of the roster would be first.
