Hello, cc6150 here!

With all of the "leaks" going around I thought of this thread. Basically you are a very respected person on smashboards, you have plenty of intelligent posts and people look up to you, but... you also have a mischevious streak. You decide to fabricate a "leak" to try to fool everyone and cause mayhem. You need to make up your sources, and make your information believable and creative.

Have fun and let your creativity flow, I look forward to reading these!

!!!DISCLAIMER!!!

These are FAKE just incase you have not noticed. This is for FUN! not making predictions!

A friend of mine who works for IGN said that Sakurai wasn't pleased with how Mario turned out, and he's being cut. They're replacing him with Waluigi, and Mario's being AT'd. Expect a Dojo update soon.

Brawl isn't real. They're going to push the release date back to April 1st, and then when you all buy the game and put it in your Wii you'll get a message that says "Thanks for propelling Wii sales!"

Did you all really think we'd be able to play as Solid Snake and Sonic the Hedgehog in Super Smash Bros.?? LOL.

Okay, so a member of the Dev team actually visited JumpFesta and an anonymous Smashboards member was there to talk to him. He spilled the beans about several items of interest to the Smash community.

Psycho Gundam Mk. III from Gundam Battle Assault 2 (unique to that game, not in any of the animes) is a featured character in Brawl. Yoshiyuki Tomino begged Sakurai to have it included. He's so huge you can only see his legs at any time on screen. His only attacks are kicks and beam attacks from regions unknown.

Sonic is actually just a Luigified clone of Knuckles. He is the real top Sega representative in the game, with a far more interesting and powerful moveset. Super Sonic isn't even the blue blur's real final smash. His FS is actually him threatening to kiss that one human princess again, causing all his enemies to lose the will to stop fighting at the mere thought of it.

Captain Falcon is being replaced by the Capcom representative, Captain Commando. He'll have the Captain's moveset except his punch is now "Capcom punch!" and his final smash is the Jill Sandwich.

Mega Man is in as an assist trophy who sulks in the corner writing "Why Sakurai, why?" on the closest surface (including a combatant) he can find.

Squenix's representative is one of Matoya's talking brooms from FF1. Sadly, he is impossible to unlock unless you hold your Brawl copy up to a mirror. His final smash is summoning Garland to knock his opponents all down.

If you switch the language mode to Japanese, Bowser is renamed "Gimpyfish".

Lucario is replacing Mewtwo, who in turn is replacing Lucario, they just couldn't make up their minds about it.

Ness isn't in, they leaker meant to say that the NES was going to be an item in the game. It randomly causes the game to crash/not start up properly after a year or so of use.

EDIT: whups, the Director beat me to the last one...

I think this topix could be educational. People could use this topix to find consistencies on what fake leaks do as well as what real ones do as well.

Luckily for all of you, I have my sources. I live up near DigiPen so there's bound to be someone willing to spill the beans for me.

Said source told me there's 37 characters (40 movesets total).

There is a boss fight with Ridley, but after beating him he mutates into a bigger form. That first form's unlockable (the bigger form = Ridley-X?)

Marth is back. Source also claims Micaiah is in as well.

As a matter of fact, all hidden characters from Melee that weren't clones are back, including Jiggs, Mewtwo, Luigi, and G&W

Ganondorf is in, but he only uses the sword in his smashes. WW Link is only a trophy

Krystal is in

Tails is an assist trophy, apparently that rumor a while back that said he rescued you when you fell was true

The big WTF character is the last third party, and that is...

...Phoenix Wright. For extra oomph he is the last character you unlock (since he OBJECTIONs when you unlock everyone else).

Isn't there a Youtube video where that happens?

Yes, I do think this could actually be educational. We must be cautious in this time when people are taking leaks haphazardly all over the smashboards. Though I must admit I was just trying to have a little fun with mine.

Hi, my name is ENG and I'm a product tester for NOA's Super Mario Club. We test games spanning across all genres and throughout many stages of development. My first experience with the new Smash Bros. game, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, was back in March of 2006, when a playable alpha demo was created for the Japanese testers overseas. As part of a rewards/incentives program at the Super Mario Club, we are allowed access to builds of games we're personally interested in, via a point allotment system which you may be familiar with if you've ever worked at a retail store. I'd saved up enough of these for my division to test the build on our breaks.

At that point, there was almost no discernible difference from Melee. The engine was exactly the same, to a T, and the only new character was Pit. Only Pit, Mario and Fox were playable. All in all, it was a fun little demo, but not exactly worth my time and investment, especially given the test stage, which was essentially a stripped down, bare-bones version of the Battlefield stage you've seen on the Dojo.

But recently, we received the pre-release version of Brawl (NTSC), 99% completed and intact. My manager and I are on good terms, so she allowed my division to work on it. Our only job is to test every combination of game mechanics in order to discover any remaining bugs or glitches that the Japanese test teams may have missed, which is, in itself, a very rare occurrence.

With the completed version of the game in my office, it was impossible for me not to break down and tell someone. I know you guys here at Gamefaqs take Smash seriously, but I really don't want this to become a phenomenon. If you could keep it to the Melee board, I'd really appreciate it. I don't want this to cost me my job.

I know that no matter what I say, you won't be satisfied unless I tell you ALL the characters. Well, sorry, but that isn't going to happen. My aim isn't to spoil the game for everyone, just to give a few hints to make the wait a little more bearable. Here we go.

The roster shown at the convention demo is not the starting roster. The starting roster is Melee's starting roster in its entirety, plus Marth, Diddy Kong, Pokemon Trainer and Pit. The rest are unlockable. Zelda can still transform, but Sheik's smashes have significantly less knockback and his (her?) special moves are new, except for the needles.

Zero Suit Samus is playable as a separate character by holding A at the beginning of a match after choosing Samus, a la Sheik from Melee.

One of my favorite new stages is Big Shell, a location from Metal Gear Solid 2. The stage takes place on top of the Big Shell, near the helipad. Pigeons fly around and can be knocked around like the shy guys in Melee. At the start of a match, the players are surrounded on either side by a chain-link fence, but after taking enough damage, the fence will fall and players can be KO'd off the side, like in some of the Super Mario stages from Melee.

As for characters, I'll give you one and a half. Olimar was a shoe-in, and his arrival shouldn't be much of a surprise, so I don't consider that much of a spoiler.
I won't explicitly say which two third party characters haven't been shown, because that will ruin the speculation game, but they're from Capcom and Square-Enix.

Like I said, please keep this to the Melee board. I doubt the information I've given out is enough to track me down, but even so, I'd rather this be kept to a small group. I hope to see some of you online this February!

This was really dated on June 4th, 2006. Well before the Nintendo World 2006 Trailer.

Hello, all! I am hereby to be referred to as...a prophet! I didn't want to show myself until at least five of my predictions came true, since I wanted a little more credibility! Anyways, don't mind me! Just listen to what I've learned through unnamed sources!

-Mario will have his FLUDD.
-Sonic will be a playable character.
-King Dedede will be playable.
-Target Test will no longer have an individual stage for each character, but five stages in total.
-There will be a fully-fledged adventure mode, something about emissaries and shadow bugs.
-Wolf will be a Sticker.
-Ness will come back....as a Sticker.
-Sonic's character slot explodes after KO-ing 50 characters in Cruel Melee, and now becomes Don Patch from Bobobo!
-Captain Falcon will be replaced with Bobobo-Bo BoBo-bo! He's quite awesome.
-They got rid of Luigi. I dunno why.
-Stafy has taken over for Kirby. Kirby was just used for the game demos. Stafy is now playable instead, Kirby is an Assist Trophy that gets kicked around.
-All of the music from Melee has been trashed, and replaced with the entire Season 1 soundtrack of Metalocalypse, courtesy of metal band, Dethklok. Also, William Murderface does the narration of the above mentioned adventure mode, as well as the voice of Pikachu and Princess Zelda.
-Product placement is EVERYWHERE in Brawl, to pay for such a large and epic project. Notably, the above mentioned assist trophy Kirby, will transform into a bottle of Mountain Dew.
-This game is now on XBox 360.

Haha, I love the parts about Lucarios and Ness. I always found it interesting that Ninten and Ness both had names seemingly based off of the system, and looked pretty much the same.

In a world where there is no Sakurai. Only Link...
Being in Australia makes it like a twenty minute walk to Tokyo. Soo... when I wasn't working, and I was craving a certain kind of Japanese rice/sushi dish, I headed across to Tokyo, and spotted the building where Sakurai and co were making/testing Brawl.

Under the guise as a reporter for a local newspaper, I entered the building and looked around, took some notes, and some scoops - just for me:

- Krystal, Wolf, Geno, K. Rool, Falco, Mewtwo, Capt. Falcon, Luigi, G and W, Ganondorf, Knuckles, Claus, Lucario, WW Link, and Isaac were all Playable characters.
- There was like 40 stages, one for each character, and a few extras.
- Ness is not in. Upon asking why, Sakurai told me that his baseball cap was racial stereotyping, so Lucas' Elvis-esque curl was cooler.

My Japanese was pretty off, so he either told me all that, or told me repeatedly to leave until security arrived... (Whatever...)
