CoroCoro: Dday is upon us!

As (most) of you know, the Japanese magazine "CoroCoro" is releasing information on the game "Super Smash Bros. X", or more commonly known as SSBB to us here Americanos (and some Canadians, euros, Aussies(?)). The magazine is going on sale in Japan on Saturday, December 15th, 2007, which means we will get information on Friday, if not earlier (y hallo thar magazine leak!).


So anyway, the magazine claims it will reveal "all characters in X with detailed info" (taken out of context), so that means we will finally put all the debate to rest about Ridley's size, if Geno's wood is still hard enough, if Olimar has made the long journey through space to join the cast, or if the Earth Adept, Isaac, will make his was to the biggest stage of '08!



There has also been discussion about if it will only be the starting roster revealed, or it truely will hold true, and give us what we have been drooling for for the last 6 years. Either way, any new information should be met with open arms. With just the starting roster, it will give us all special moves, and also confirm/deconfirm Sheik. All I can say is, we will see.



(Oh and on a side note I think they are revealing ATs and stages, but the roster is what most people are concerned about right?)

I can't recall if the CoroCoro is going to show the entire roster. In fact, no one knows if they are just going to show characters that are only on the Dojo, like a recap. Were talking about here, where everyone gets hyped up for some major event(which is silly) and then it turns out to be crap.

Though I do hope they show the starting roster (Captain Falcon better be there)

Honeslty I cannot really see them revealing the whole roster. I'd love to be wrong about this, but it seems more likely that they'll do the starting roster.

actually I've talked to a few people who can read and speak fluent Japanese and theyve all said it does indeed state it will reveal hidden characters as well.

I kinda wouldn't like them to reveal the entire roster, seeing as afterwards there's still about 2 months until the release and that make speculation boring.
Though I'd personally settle for Corocoro revealing only one new character. Just to help bring up someone else, over a month since the last one and it's starting to affect me.

Captain Falcon is in, don't worry. I could go into detail why, but the Goroh AT should be a good enough reason why.

I doubt the number will include more third parties, if it is indeed the whole roster, I think that's something Sakurai would like to reveal himself.

Oof, that would kill some people, especially if it consisted of Isaac, Ridley, and Geno, which have been the top requested characters (seen this in numerous polls on different boards).

though a full roster would be nice at first, i feel like it would take some of the fun out of it. predicting/hoping/speculating about your picks is half the fun. knowing it all and realizing your fav isnt kinda ruins the anticipation. so much of this forum is predicting/supporting chars. i think without that sense of mystery people will get somewhat bored and lose anticipation (especially if the roster turns out to be a letdown) . however the opposite can be true too. im not too sure where i stannd right now but if they release isaac i will have no worries =). just my 2 cents and that was agonizing to type on the wii=P

I'm not expecting much, since I think people are once again setting themselves up for a disappointment, ala the December 3rd update.

With that said, they might as well reveal the full roster, and not the starters. It's a fighting game, not an RPG. I agree that speculation is fun, but you can ask any Ridley/Geno fanboy, and they would rather know whether or not they are in -NOW-.

Although, I admit, if I find out Isaac(my top hopeful) is not in this far from release, I will be bummed, but at least I'll have 20+ new characters to drool over. Same with everyone else, I imagine.

I completely agree. We all have been waiting for such a long time and the same debates on the same characters have been going on for so long, we might as well put it to rest. Not to mention the fact that im getting impatient

On a side not about the people who arent sure if this will just be the starting roster or the full roster my best friend is a Japanese exchange student and he is living at my house this year, I showed him the corocoro website and he looked through and read the brawl related part and translated it as 'all the characters will be revealed in a small booklet'. He also told me that before melee came out corocoro did the same thing and he got that issue and the melee character info booklet. So if it turns out to not be the full roster, sorry for getting your hopes up XD.

So true... so true. Like statistics, Sakurai's words and evidence can be twisted in so many ways you can make practically any character seem like a guaranteed playable character.

While speculation is fun, I think it would benefit most of us if we did know who was in the game so all of this <insert random character you have never heard of> is in! ends.

What's more, is those characters that do have decent evidence end up blown off with those who most people who think even somewhat logically know aren't in. Eg. Ashley, Cloud, and Master Chief.

All in all, while it would be a spoiler, I agree that this is a fighting game, not an RPG, and the plot of SSE would not even be spoiled, which has far more depth than just character confirmations from what we have seen, especially if it really is a 10 hour platformer like the rumors suggest.

I am not expecting anything new, but I think it would be nice. This would be a potential source we could get new information from, but Sakurai mentioned in his blog somewhere he wanted to reveal things himself. Does that mean he is writing the article for them/with them? We know he writes in Famitsu so it's possible. Anyway, all we can do is wait, and I am sure someone will come in on the 14th in US/European time and give some information that we will have to choose whether or not to believe.

so, assuming there will be additional characters revealed in this magazine, when would Sakurai have the dojo updated? Would he post all the information Friday, before the magazine's release? The Monday after? one at a time?

So, this time I’m moving in the direction of not being too hung up on hidden characters.

Exactly. He sounds a little bitter at the end of this update, and this actually supports the rumors that CoroCoro is indeed revealing the entire roster.

If not, it's another Sakurism.
