As for this whole nonsense with these cards, if this issue didn't have any new information, who's to think the number of cards are a source of insider information? Whatever number of cards they have is probably just based on what has already been revealed on the dojo, since all of their media is taken directly from there.

They have 30 cards, each featuring a playable character. Including the three Pokemon, we have 26 from the Dojo. That means 4 others would be confirmed from these cards.

No, if you go back and see what the original trnaslation was a montha ago, CC stuck to what they said. We kind of blew it out or proportion a bit with our anticipation.

No, what I'm saying is just because they have 30 cards, doesn't mean they have knowledge of 30 playable characters. If they had insider info, they would have published it in their magazine proper. They have no new media, just stuff from the Dojo. They are probably know just as much as we do and, like how each Pokemon gets a separate card, are just stretching out their information to fit on 30 cards, which is a nice even number for collectible cards.

We never did know what kind of characters they were featuring. Even in SamuraiPnada's trnaslation a month ago, it said we weren't sure if we're getting the starting roster or just Dojo characters.

Not really. They said they'd confirm the starting roster but I'm willing to bet money on the fact that the starting roster won't include all of the characters they've posted so far.

Sakurai has said that unlocking characters is going to be quicker with SSE so I'm sure there are going to be a lot of unlockables. Unless he's adding an assload of additional characters to the dojo, it's pretty safe to assume that a lot of those characters won't be starters, with Snake and Sonic being the obvious ones.

It's on the site in the first post. It appears that it could be either, but I'm leaning a little towards Luigi's Mansion. One thing for sure is that it is NOT a stage that's bene announced. Not The Summit, Not Battlefield at night, etc.

Methinks the cards will be one per DOJO character, including one for each of PT's three Pokémon, and probably one for the Trainer himself. As for the other three cards? Captain Falcon, Sheik, and... erm, just whoever you want. That would bring us to a total of 25 selectable characters revealed on the DOJO--and yes, I think Sheik has to be separate this time around.

Since Sonic and Snake will likely be unlockable, however, the roster then drops back down to 23. Kind of a gross number, or at least an arbitrary one with no special qualities (other than being prime). We're either getting ANOTHER character on the starting roster (and PT probably wouldn't get a card), or one of the DOJO characters is secret aside from Sonic and Snake; in such a case, I would have to guess Dedede.

actually PT would be 4 cards him, and his three pokemon so it would be 25, which seems like a good number seeing as how there were exactly 25 characters TOTAL in Melee.

No, the Pokemon Trainer cards will be three. Makes sense since you don't actually play as the Trainer, he is just there for a mechanism to switch the Pokemon.

Yeah I just thought about that sry, anyway. I think that 26-27 is a good number, 12 TOTAL in the 64 version, 12+2 = 14 starters for melee, 25 TOTAL in melee, 25+2=27 starters for brawl maybe, also they added 13 characters to melee why not 15 to brawl making it 40???

Can't say I'm all that suprised.

One of the ideas I had was something like F-Zero GX. You only start with 4 unlocked characters (Say Link, Mario, Fox, and Kirby) and as you play through SSE you unlock more and more. And say the only way to unlock everyone would be to play as all 4 starters.

Just an idea I had, but I'm pretty sure nobody else would like that.

All we can do now is wait for Jan. 24 or Feb. 10 (For those of us avoiding the net after the 24th). I'm sure with this community we'll have all the info we could want in a matter of hours.

so corocoro will have 30 cards next month, jan 15th, one for each character (minus *really* hidden characters which, i imagine, will be revealed on the dojo after release.)

PT gets 3 cards, one for each pokemon.
Samus/ZSS is two different cards.

20 chars on the dojo now (not counting PT and Samus/ZSS, and the invisible, unconfirmed sheik.)

so that's 25.

that leaves 5 more to be revealed before jan. 15th. right? that's pretty exciting.

You'd think a magazine that gets inside pokemon information would be able to do better than a cut and paste hackjob from the Dojo. At LEAST that could have got new screenshots from the characters already announced.

I'm actually quite happy about this. I didn't want the full roster revealed because I didn't want to be spoiled. Neither would I have liked the full starting roster revealed because that probably would have been bad for my theory that Megaman is going to be revealed on Monday. I happy to get my news on the dojo, instead. Although, I would have liked some new screenshots.

I highly doubt we'll be getting a new character before Judgement Day, unless Megaman's little countdown involves him joining the Brawl. I think 26-30 will either be Subspace Emissary stuff (maybe one of the Ancient Minister to throw us off) and/or big name AT's/Pokeballs like (since it's Japan) Stafy and Deoxys.
