27 Starters/Total Characters confirmed?

What a devastating blow to the Brawl community. This month's CoroCoro issue only contains previously known info that has been announced on the Dojo. Even the screenshots are screenshots taken directly from the Dojo. The Brawl feature is a 16-page boolet featured within the magazine, containing Dojo information until about a week ago. The booklet does NOT confirm any starters directly, however we have a theory on the total number below. A preview for next month's issue's cards is shown. Pokemon Trainer gets 3 cards, for each of his Pokemon.

This leads me to believe that the original 30 character cards to be shown are going to be less with PT counting as 3 himself. No doubt Samus and her Zero Suit form will count as 2 cards. Shiek, being semi-confirmed would have her own card also, dropping it down to 26 individual roster spots. So are we getting 26 starters or total characters? 22 characters are revealed on the Dojo, and including the obvious Luigi, Falcon, and Ganondorf, that makes 25. It looks like the entire Dojo (except for Sonic and Snake), and a couple more characters to be added, will be the entire starting roster. Of course this is all speculation now that CoroCoro confirmed a card for each Pokemon of Pokemon Trainer. Here are some screens of the magazine:

Looks like all we can do to find out a new character is turn to Sakurai himself and the Dojo. I admit, I was really expecting some good news out of this.

I really wasn't expecting anything super from this anyway. It would've been nice to at least see some new screenshots, since CoroCoro usually offers us this at the least.

Id love to know everyone now. I wanna find out about Geno, see how Ganodorf looks with his TP look and sword, etc. It would only hype me up more for the game.

Really, I'm only disappointed that CoroCoro couldn't even give us a few new screenshots. Usually they can at least manage that. I wasn't expecting any new characters; that was a fool's wish.

A third pic was added to Brawl Central. The 30 cards we were supposed to be getting aren't going to be having 30 characters. pokemon Trainer gets 3 cards (one of each Pooekmon obviously) and most likely, Samus will get 2, for her and her ZS form.

This makes me think that we will be getting about 27 starters?

No way we'll have that many starters. Not unless we had 40+ characters. I'm guessing 30 - 35 characters now.

The alternative is 27 total. With the 22 we have, and the obvious Luigi and Ganondorf, that makes 24 right there. 3 more only? I doubt it.

I'm sure the 27 is a card for every starter.

I'm calling 27 starters and only about 9 unlockables.

Which would bring it down to 26. I'm betting Cpt. Falcon, Sheik and a new character (Maybe Krystal or Ridley?) would take up the unknown three character cards, also assuming Zamus gets her own card.

So that would be 26 starters. The exact size, including transformations, of Melee's entire roster. I'm still not paranoid about Brawl falling under 40 or more playables.

People are already guessing 20 starters, and about 15 unlockables, so I think that 26 starters and maybe 10 unlockables seems very fair.

The original had 4 secrets, and Melee had 11. So even cutting Sonic and Snake off, that'd still be 24 starters with a definite 2 secrets (Sonic and Snake... Duh.) and a number probably significantly higher than Melee's 11 would still bring us just under 40, if not straight on it.

Though if those 30 cards are indeed just meant to be cards of the starters, than this could mean 2 things:

1. Sonic and Snake are starters, due to whatever reason (probably marketing ).

2. (More ideally) We'll get 2 new characters to make up the gap that Sonic and Snake's absence in the starting roster leaves. (Hopefully somebody like Ridley and Cpt. Olimar, but thats IMO XD)

Only problem is that if the cards DO serve as the entire starting roster, chances are Sakurai would've already updated with them on the Dojo. So it'd be nothing to look forward to... Again.

There are 30 cards. Not every character gets only one card. PT gets 3, Samus gets 2, and most likely Zelda gets 2, meaning 26 individual roster spots are in the cards. My guess:

26 starters
Maybe 10 hidden?

Melee's 25 was filled with clones, and Sakurai intends Brawl to be the definitive Smash Brothers.
30 is a fantastic amount, plenty of selection, plenty of variety...NO CLONES.

It seems CoroCoro derives it's information straight frmo Nintendo. If we get a card of (example) Shiek, It's a safe bet that Shiek is in Brawl.
