common5.pac file size too big

i've been trying to replace all of the csps in common5 for Project M, but despite the images being compressed to ~10 kb, the size of common5 gets to be too big. does anyone have a solution or experience in editing common5?

also I just tested changing 1 portrait only (brawlbox), and that bumped the file size up an extra 2 mb. this doesn't seem right.

edit: I then replaced one MenSelchrFace.tex0 with a copy of itself and the file size went up 2 mb again. nothing makes sense

okay I figured out that I need to compress parts of common5.pac, but I don't know what parts to compress, and what kind of compression

Check this thread, @Ondo has some good ideas for getting the size of your sc_selcharacter down. Also, what version of BrawlBox are you using? The latest is 0.73b.
