Pass the Salt 1 - April 5th @Wolf Law Library room 205, Boulder, CO
It's time for the first event in a new series, Pass the Salt 1! This tournament will be similar to past ones I've ran; it's really only a different series in name.

The tournament will take place in room 205 of the Wolf Law Library. This room is nearly double the capacity of our old one, so hopefully we won't run out of room for setups.

I haven't really enforced this in the past because it hasn't presented such a large problem before, but I will be DQ'ing people if I can't get in contact with them within 5 minutes of calling the match. If you go to get food, bring it back with you. If you have to leave the venue for some reason, let me know so we can figure out if you'd be in danger of holding anything up. (You guys have generally been doing a great job with this, especially the new folk!)

EVENTS:
Brawl Singles Bracket
Brawl Doubles Bracket
Project M Singles Bracket
Project M Doubles Bracket
Melee Singles Bracket
(unlikely but possible) Melee Doubles Bracket

All singles events will be Double Elimination brackets, unless we reach more than 32 players for the event, in which case there will be a round of pools first. Doubles events will all be a single round robin unless there are 8 or more teams, in which case it will be changed into a double elimination bracket.

FEES:
$5 Venue Fee, waived for full setups
$10 entry to all Singles events, $5 per person ($10 per team) for all Doubles events.

Brawl Doubles (80/20 payout):
1st: Detta + Rubio ($20 each)
2nd: Axel (J + Z) ($5 each)
3rd: Jesus + Elder
4th: Pikachu + Entei (Mikki + Lion)
5th: %x? + Trixie

Brawl Singles (70/20/10 payout):
1st: Rubio ($49)
2nd: Lion ($14)
3rd: Detta ($7)
4th: Zen

will post bracket images later

So basically here's how this worked
Doubles: One pool of 5, then top seed waited in Grand Finals while other four played a single-elimination bracket for second seed, then first and second played again in Grand Finals. More Rubio's idea than mine, just since we finished doubles so quickly.
Singles: Two pools of 5 + one pool of 4, top 2 get out, then two pools of 3, top 2 get out, then one pool of 4 and top 3 get paid.

Total of 14 sets of doubles, 38 singles sets. 3 setups. first Doubles match happened at 12:30 and last Singles match happened around 6 or 7.
If we had done a normal pool for doubles and a double elim for singles, it would've had 9 sets of doubles, and a ton less for singles (14 entrants total).
If we had actually had 6 setups, the tournament would've been over in 3 or 4 hours with the same number of sets, or we could've done P:M as well and been done within another two hours.
Summit 4 (5/26/12)

1: Seven Inches Soft (Bees + Fishbait) ($91.00)
2: Like Shrooms (Meno + Level 0) ($26.00)
3: 1v1 Battles (Bobby Joe Hill + Lux) ($13.00)
4: We Don't Know (I + Detta)
5: MJG and Delux (Fraggar + Bonds)
5: Pen is Great (Rubio + Skullkid)
7: Milan (Lion + Mikki)
7: 2 Pro Scrubs (GMS + Zen)
9: Unaccompanied Miners (Tate + Rafael)
9: Errol and Lalo (Errol + Lalo)
9: Luna in Socks (Trixie + Ghoti)
9: PSI Eggs (Chunky + Hevil)
13: Jesus and Elder (Jesus + Elder)

1: Bobby Joe Hill ($182.00)
2: Fishbait ($52.00)
3: Bees ($26.00)
4: Bonds
5: Rubio
5: Delux
7: Soapy
7: Chunky
9: Skullkid
9: I
9: Logo
9: Meno
13: Elder
13: Lalo
13: Errol
13: Lvl 0
17: Trixie
17: Fragger
17: I don't Exist
17: Tate
17: Detta
17: Lion
17: Inex
17: Oh Long Johnson
25: Dark
25: Ghoti
25: Hevil

P:M side bracket results.

1. Handsome Tim (Ness, Ganondorf) ($18)
2. Studmonger (Sheik) ($6)
3. Skullkid (Marth, DK) (left before payout, would've gotten like $2)
4. Chunky (Lucas)
5. Detta (R.O.B., Jigglypuff)
5. Z (Fox?)

Are you going to NDK this year? It's an anime convention near the end of each September, and a few of us will be sure to go. If you can manage that, we'll definately be able to do some smashin', as well as introduce some scrubs to the true depths of SSBM. If not, there's always the CCCT, and random get-togethers.

What's NDK? I also live near Denver, I almost went to a mini smash tourney with kmgamer and meleemarth but things came up and I couldn't go >_< I guess it all depends on where the tourney is located

$45 for the full weekend. Hotel rooms are extra. o.o;

Zoap I'd check and see if Kevin could give you a ride. I'm not sure if he's going or not, but he might know someone that is. Currently, our mode 'o transportation is full, otherwise I'd offer to take you myself. --;

Let make sure this is right.
it's 45$ to get a pass for the convention and then you would need to pay seperately for
a hotel room.

So, yeah. None of you know me, but if things go the way I think they are, you'll know all about me soon enough. I've been playing smash since a while after it came out, and I haven't found one really good challenger yet (1v1). I met some peeps at NDK that told me about this place, so here I am. I want people to challenge in the Denver area, to see what all these "pros" are really like. I suck at FFA 4 players and such, but solo I might be unstopable. Anyways, if melleemarth or whatever, or whoever is out there wants to test their skills, send me a messasge and we can exchange phone numbers, or whatever. I'm really **** bored on this Friday, so mssg me fast. I want to kick some ***.

Hey all you smashers!

Hey Sebastian, it's Kenny, i met you at NDK and gave you the link to smashboards. I think that we all need to get mroe active here in the smash community. Seeing as how the next cutthroat will not be held until the Spring it's important that we have some touranments and casual playtime in between now and then. here are a list of colorado smash players that i know of and their names on the boards and locations:
BlueMycon-Kenny(aurora)
kmgamer-Kyle(aurora)
meleemarth-Victor(monument)
IntermOfZeal-Tony(byers)
Zoap-zoap(?)
SabinFigaro-Buddy(Ft. Collins)
jameslocke-Nick(ft. collins)
FalcoAce1-Kevin(aurora)
Liquid_Penguin-Sebastian(denver)
spiritdragon-Ferdinand(Thornton)
El_Lovo-?(aurora)

Let's get Smashin! Hopefully there'll be a tournament coming up soon. Possibly on the 1st of Oct. but don't hold me to it. I'm still searching for a good location to hold it. Until they you people better get practicing so that Victor has some competition now that ssbm_kings is gone. If anyone needs more information about people(addresses, phone #s, etc.) then get PMing so we can get playing.

liquid penguin there are many people who say that they are good at ssbm. in fact i used to say that until i played tan and tohn. anyways if you want a challenge or somthing i guess you could come to my house. call me at 1-719-488-0246 and ask for victor. so whenever you want to play thats cool with me. oh and if you want to play me, you will probably have to drive down to my place cuz ive down an *** load of driving to other peoples houses. so now its everyone elses turn lol. well, i guess just call if you want to play.

Liquid, were you the one talking to Kenny (the lil' black dude)? Or were you the azn Samus player, desperate for a different character to play?

I was the rocker kid with red hair that was always carrying around sketchbooks like a dork. Only played a few times, Bowser, Peach, Fox, Marth, Roy, and Pikachu...maybe Ganon. I dunno, my memory of that weekend already grows hazy.

With the glasses? You weren't bad, but you don't really hold a candle to anyone in the 1v1 scene, no offense meant. Glad to know we have a new recruit thought. ^^

Also, what the hell IS Zoap's real name? Or is it really Zoap? Cuz that'd be a **** cool name.

It'd be hard to gauge my 1v1 based on my multiplayer skills. But, I'm gonna call Victor up and and after today we'll know if I'm actually any good.

He already played us, though we didn't take and go out of our way to discourage him by crushin' em.

Liquid, I'd definately recommend playing Victor for an idea as to how fast you can move if you play properly. After that, I'd suggest hooking it up with Zoap, since he's awesome and **** good anyway.

Darn...I met Kenny at NDK this year and he told me about CCCT. There are probably other SSBM tournaments right?
I live in Boulder. It would be awsome if I got to play somebody good! My friend I play with sort of sucks. I won about 70% of the matches at NDK this year so I'm pretty good. Probably not as good as you though.

well peach's pan, that was fun playing you but you still have a lot of things to work on. anyways i was thinking for anyone who is THINKING about holding a tournament they should start by posting it here in this topic. then we can see who is coming and what date/time will work the best. The Colorado smash scene is growing since NDk and i think there needs to be more interaction between us smashers. so far, kenny is pretty much doing all the work by holding two tournaments at his house. now i think that some of us should try to start holding them out our houses too. if we keep the Colorado smash scene going like this, we will be able to compete with other states.

ALSO kmgamer was talking to me about a tournament in november at some video game store. the winner gets either a psp or 250$ store credit. hopefully kyle will fill me in more about it. last time there was about 60 people there. i think this time all of we smashers should make this one a good tournament. so plan on trying to come to this.

This winter break im PROBABLY going to hold a tournament and if all of the good smashers come to this, then DMAC SAID HE WOULD GO!!! and he would probably bring some of his crew. so i think everyone should start practicing and making plans for this. BECAUSE THIS IS GOING TO BE ****ING CRAZY IF IT WORKS.

WOOT IM GOING TO WIN A PSP!!!
