While it isnt all that important, im posting it anyway since it's new info. No need for lock, it is after all new info.

While there are four (or like 20 if you really count everything that can plug into a GCN or Wii) controller types, the default one is the Classic Controller, not the Wii Remote.

This is from Gamestop.com:

Duke it out with your favorite Nintendo characters in Super Smash Bros. for the Wii. Solid Snake from the Metal Gear Series makes a special appearance in this title for the Wii game system. Although it’s not due to be released until next year Nintendo has already revealed that the new Smash Bros. will include a number of new playable characters such as Meta Knight from the Kirby games, Pit from Kid Icarus, Zero Suit Samus (i.e. Samus without her armour) from Metroid: Zero Mission, Wario and, most unexpectedly, Solid Snake from Metal Gear and Sonic the Hedgehog, Sega's loveable blue blur! The Nintendogs also make an appearance, although only as an item for obscuring the screen, and each character now seems to have some gigantic new special attacks that take up the whole screen.. Not only will the game have an online mode but it is the only major Nintendo title to use the “shell” controller by default rather than the Wii remote.

I would hardly call this a confirmation, Gamestop is not an official source. And not everybody has the classic controller, so it would make no sense to have it as the default option. Imagine getting Brawl, turning it on, and then discovering that your good ol' Wii Remote doesn't work with the game. Something tells me that the controller type that comes packaged with the system is the default option.

uuhhhh.... its already confirmed that we can use all those control types... all you need is the wiimote... dont even need a nunchuk , therefore youll be able to play no matter what

i think the TC's( or well the writer of the article) point was really that the CC is the more suitable controller for first time users

Who caresssssss. Were all gonna end up using the gamecube controller. Im still hoping that they redesign a new gamecube controller (wireless?) for the smash release. The wavebirds are too much and are a pain with the batteries. The regular GC controller's are good but, the cords are tooooooo short and the wii is too unstable. I've already seen my wii fall like 5 times too many.
