nah but srsly, i think it'd be a good idea if we just had 1 game to focus on for a tournament. the game will not be melee. i hope the game is also very silly and hilarious. mario tennis does not fall into this category, but it is really ****ing fun and really easy to get a bunch of hype over, so i think it's a great game for the tournament. but it would be hilarious to have an entire tournament based on one specific minigame from mario party or something... like Avalanche (the game from mp4(?) where everyone is skiing away from an avalanche and dodging rocks and ****) since the tourney should have some association with winter. but seriously who's down for mario tennis?

Why do we need a tournament exactly?

because the only reason we get together is for tournaments, but this time we're getting together for something beyond "serious smash".... so i think it'd be appropriate for there still to be a tournament, but just with an entirely different game, still mario themed, all fun, and still super hype.


we would still run singles and doubles as normal, so people still need to find partners and ****... but we'd all be getting drunk and having a merry time service and return acing each other, doing overhead smashes and laughing about how broken Boo's ability to go out of bounds is. it'll just be REALLY REALLY REALLY ****ING FUN.

We'd need standardized setups and all for that, and I'm not sure we could pull that off. It's much more convenient to just bring whatever, though that also brings up the possible issue of everyone vying for control of the possibly limited setups that could be there.

I guess a lot of what can work out depends on the number of people dedicated to bringing setups and, should we decide to do a tournament, how many people can bring a setup for that game/system.

i only read the 2nd paragraph cuz you usually type a bunch of negative **** initially before you start gettin neutral with it.


but yeah the main issue is that we would need mario tennis cartridges. plenty of people have N64s and controllers. some people have a copy of the actual game i'm sure, and if we are low, i know that i (and im sure at least a few) would be willing to buy the game. plus, with the added effect of modded Wiis, i think this is very doable.





this is of course assuming that we do run a mario tennis tourney.



the only thing i would suggest otherwise is.
MARIO KART: DOUBLE DASH


EVERYONE needs a partner. ONLY 2-PEOPLE KARTS ALLOWED IN TOURNAMENT. 2 teams race at a time, team with the higher placing advances.. ****ING CHAIN CHOMP.... THIS **** WOULD BE AMMMAAAAAZZZZIIIINNNNGGGGGGGGG.

i'd be down for star fox assault just cuz it'd be hilariously poking fun at the fact that we'd be playing a tourney of like 100% spacies anyway (not really though, but yeah you get my point).


yessssss im glad someone sees how **** a 2-person kart only MK:DD tourney would be. the only issue is that if we have an odd number of people wanting to enter, someone is going to be left out, but there are (slightly ludicrous) ways of solving that issue anyway.... and since it's such a lax tournament who really gives a crap in the first place.


i'm super down for either:

Mario Tennis 64
Mario Kart: Double Dash
Star Fox Assault (to a lesser degree)

Why do things have to be hyped to be fun though?

Maybe others would enjoy a lower-key atmosphere and think that's more fun because of all of the different games to play.

Even money matches/pride matches in different games could be hyped so that could happen if needed.
