I always hated that Fox's laser would always miss on Corneria because of the hill of the wing-thing...but that's about all that I could remember.

And from the time they announced it, I thought that it was incredibly ironic that Lucas's stage is the largest stage in the game so far, yet his final smash only pwns on smaller stages :p

I never realized any of that. Good job, fluffy.

Ike's final smash is decent on his home stage. But... that's probably the only one that I can think of for right now.

Thanks for your comments! I also personally liked the idea with using Dk's final smash to hog the safe spot when the tidal wave of lava comes on norfair. like many of us said, different final smashes and other moves too will have different effects on different stages.
Yes, but if you use DK's FS before the wave comes, and then it suddenly appears...u can guess what happens next.

I always wondered why character stages never worked to that characters advantage.

Youd think samus would want a flatter stage for her FS than Norfair

Ideas...

After reading all of your ideas, I'm starting to think Sakurai wants characters to fail on there own stages, lol.

Interesting find, but I'm sure there's no connection between a stage being 'home turf' and having an advantage on that level, which is good in my opinion. I wouldn't like it if every character would have an advantage (or disadvantage for that matter) on their home stage.
Also, I don't see the point about why bridge of eldin is disadvantageous(what a word ^_^) for link. If he gets seperated from his opponent, it isn't like he is forced to jump over the gap to get in melee range. In fact, I think link has an advantage over most opponents there by having strong ranged capacities. Plus, having a gap to fly over to perform your final smash must look plain awesome!
Furthermore there are many stages that give their series' respective character an advantage. Lylat system is great for fox, having platforms on two heights makes his blaster more functional and the higher set of platforms seems to be on perfect height for his landmaster to fire at. Also Yoshi's island is by far the best stage to perform yoshi's FS on, etc.
Whilst I'm sure there is no connection whatsoever, this thread sure got me thinking about how much stages affect a battle's outcome in brawl, especially with the inclusion of final smashes!

Agree

I agree actually. I think it would be unfair if characters had advantages on their own stages. However, I think it is odd how some have big disadvantages on hometurfs, especially DK and Lucas, although there are still many, many others.:)

I have also made an interesting thread about mii's in Brawl. It is called "I want to be in Brawl!". You can find it under Character Discussion.

EDIT: nevermind lol dont go to it. instead, go to new character: Mii under character discussion.

Right behind you with a knife.
Don't multi-post.

Anyways, just to comment, DK's FS makes him actually float on non moving stages. Perhaps he will float along with the stage as it goes on. Additionally, if this was true, a good position in the middle of the screen with its constantly fixed horizontal boundaries, it could be very dangerous to the opponent. (Note that if you time it right, DK's attacks are pretty dang huge on the bongos)

Links is perfect for the bridge the whole level is flat. Samus's is good on almost all the small stages and metaknights is the worst on any stage.

Upon further analyzation on this matter i have deducted this....

FS's
Mario: Near Perfect for Mario Circuit due to smasll size and predominitely horizontal Stage Position

Link: Because of MASSIVE Horizontal range on both the attack and the stage itself, there's really no problem with this.....unless your opponent can jump.....really high

Pikachu: I'm at a loss for this one actually....it wouldn't matter what stage you were on.....this FS would be hard to capitalize with either way

Kirby: We aren't completely sure how Cook Kirby works anyway....

DK: stated on First Page

Yoshi: Decent on all Stages

Samus: Decent on MOST stages

Fox: GODSEND on Bridge of Eldin

Bowzer:....lol Broken at the LEAST

Peach: Depends on opponents position, not necessarily the stage

Pit: Decent for most stages

Wario: I would assume that stage would not matter for this FS

Ike: Bull$hit on EVERY STAGE

PT: good for Horizontal Stages

Diddy Kong: Smaller=Better

MetaKnight: similar to Ike

Lucas: Smaller=Better

Sonic *see Pikachu*

King D3: *see Pit*

You're only talking about final smashes though, you're forgetting other abilities.

Such as link's horrizontal jumps.

Lol, I saw this in the SMYN thread.

But yeh, it's kind of ironic how Lucas' own FS doesn't work on his home turf.
But about Rumble Falls, that's kind of a major setback so I'm guessing Sakurai has already thought of a solution.

Also, don't play on Falls because it's dumb like Icicle Mountain.
First off, its not exactly the same, it moves at a constant pace. With that being said, it could potentially be in profressional play. "lulz its moving lolololol i'm too much a ***** to handlez it"

oh NOW YOU TELL ME!!!

either way.....

Mario's Abilities: Balanced thus far for his stage but the Mario Series usually has more than one stage

Link:I'd say pretty good for his stage

Pikachu: It would depend on the form that the Stadium takes....

I don't feel like doing the other ones at this moment, why? well you have no time to ponder such questions, as i am going to sleep

I would think that Pika's final smash is perfectly suited for the flying section, since everyone will be really, really floaty in midair.

It's also frowned upon to advertise an unrelated thread ;)

I'm thinking about Peach's Final Smash (On Isle Delfino). She could do it when people are off the moving platform, like on the beach, and the platform would leave them behind, and they'd get KO'd!

Funny!

Some have been stated already, such as Captain Falcon's Generally slow moves on his stage(can't think of the name), or Falcon Kick on Big BLue

falcon kick on big blue will always KO you unless you are on the big car that flies on top. i still like big blue though. and about cook kirby...we still dont no how you get sucked into the pot...is it only if your close? if so, would it work on halbred? or will they announce a stage that belongs to kirby other than halbred? well, we still have alot of questions about the kirby series in smash brawl. what is the halbred's role in SE? What changes have been made to kirby?

Link's FS is actually really good for his stage. Since it latches onto whoever is horizontally across from him, it can allow him to zoom all the way across the bridge gap for a surprise KO. Even without the gap, Eldin is completely flat, making it really easy for Link to catch his opponent.

Ive been wondering with Mario's FS. Imagine New Pork City. He runs to the edge jumps off the side, and from perfectly in the middle of the stage vertically launches his FS. How big can it get? I can see it reaching a maximum size and then just keep oing, or I can see it continuing to grow until it is very big then dissapears of the side, or maybe it dissapears after a set dstance

ive said this before, but ill say it agian. i dont think that there should be home turf advantages. i want this game to be balanced. but i think it is odd that there are clear disadvatnges to characters on their home turfs. also, i reread the stuff about DK's final smash. he is invincible while doing it, so the cars on mario circuit wont kill him. but, think about this. when you get an invincible star and fall of or walk off a stage, you still get KOed. so even if your invincible while using DKs final smash, getting scrolled off the sceen as it moves upward would KO you. Sakurai even said in the DK FS post that you should "think twice before using it on a scrolling stage" or something like that. that is what i think is weird. and on Lucas's final smash, sakurai clearly said it would be bad to use it on big stages. is he hinting on something? probably not, but who knows?
