Ok. My name is Fluffy :lick::cool:, and this is one of my first threads. It will be about Characters and there disadvantages on their own stages. let me name a few examples...

Sakurai himself said that Lucas's final smash wouldn't work good on big stages. Well, New Pork City is his home stage, giving him a disadvantage. When Donkey Kong uses his final smash on his stage, i believe he stays in one spot, unable to move. yes, this is a bad final smash, but on his own stage, rumble falls? That is a problem :dizzy:. using your final smash on a stage scrolling up constantly is suicide. I can imagine diddy kong having trouble on rumble falls too, based on what i saw in the videos.

if you can find any other examples of characters having disadvantages on there own stages, post them here. Should they have advantages over other characters on there own stage? or would it be to unbalanced? Does it matter? Post your ideas and opinions here. Cya

EDIT: p.s. If you want to learn about me, search "I'm Fluffy" using the search button. I'd be happy to add you to my buddy list or whatever once I get the hang of this.

That's really strange, now that I think about. If I unleash the wrath of PK Star Strom on New Pork City It won't be as effective. Hmm... strange indeed.

Lol, I saw this in the SMYN thread.

But yeh, it's kind of ironic how Lucas' own FS doesn't work on his home turf.
But about Rumble Falls, that's kind of a major setback so I'm guessing Sakurai has already thought of a solution.

Also, don't play on Falls because it's dumb like Icicle Mountain.

anytime.

Arg, I was sad when they showed Rumble Falls on the Dojo, the first thing that came to mind was, "Didn't they learn from Icicle Mountain?"

unfortanetly, many people didn't like icicle mountain. at least we've "reached the top of icicle mountain" on the ice climbers new stage, the summit.

Just make sure to stay on either the left or right side. lol.

Maybe... because Captain Falcon runs like hell, having a small stage is acting against him?

I always kinda thought about this... even in Melee. I mean, look at Fourside. Ever tried doing PK Thunder in between two skyscrapers?
Yes, and it's a pain to do. Then again, Onette is more or less Ness' actual home turf. I mean, it is his home town after all.

Yeah, it's kind of weird.

Also, IC's final smash will actually MAKE solid land for people to step on once the summit starts to sink....

Welcome to SWF, Fluffy. Good thread. But typically posting messages that say "I'm leaving but I'll be back later" is frowned upon, as they don't have pertinence to the topic at hand.

It's a very interesting observation. I can see Link not being the best person on the Bridge of Eldin. His jumps are mainly vertical, and there can be a big gap in the middle.

Kudos to you, fluffy, for a good, new idea. ^_^

I'll be honest; I don't think Sakurai and his crew probably considered that when they designed the levels and FSes. That said, it is a nice way for new players to be thrown for a loop, because naturally one might assume, given the nature of Smash's gameplay, characters might have some advantage on their home turf.

Certainly some FSes can have useful applications regardless of level, and I can see some FSes creating very interesting scenarios in certain levels.

Ex: In Norfair, using DK's FS to hog the safe zone, or using IC's FS, which would be a bizzare combination with the lava.

For Samus, there's many different platforms of different heights that branch outwards in Norfair, so you can get above and behind her or below her and dodge the attack easily.

For Link, he has a huge advantage, actually. There's no platforms on the bridge, so as long as the opponent's standing, Link's got 'em.

Mario has a disadvantage because he has a stationary attack on a moving stage. Same goes for Peach.

As for Link, it's been brought up about the gap that appears after a while. With his mainly vertical recovery, it makes that jump kinda difficult.

Samus... yeah, that's true what you said. One this is cool, though. Because of her height in jumping, she might actually be able to jump over the tidal wave from the back of the stage.

Iris, you have to consider more than just the FS. His jumps are not meant to cover horizontal distances, and as such, getting from one side to another when the bridge is out would be problematic.

My post was only FS-oriented. The stages tend to work against their respective character's final smash in particular. We really don't know enough to judge all of their abilities.

Thanks for your comments! I also personally liked the idea with using Dk's final smash to hog the safe spot when the tidal wave of lava comes on norfair. like many of us said, different final smashes and other moves too will have different effects on different stages.

Probably brawling
in defense of pit, skyworld has a falling type thing and he can fly and glide, so thats nice. and he can move while using his FS so he wont die. MK has a rather small stage which is perfect for him and his FS

I always noticed this too, how especially C. Falcon's stages really don't fit for his slow moves, since mute city battles tend to be really fast-paced and big blue can kill you if you stay in one place too long.

i dont see wario being moble enough to get around the warioware stages and compete in the games on a high level like some of the other characters might be able to..
