Let's keep this civilized, everyone thinks differently.
Character loyalty for me:
In 64 I played lots of (Mario and Zelda were some of my fave series, and I loved DK 64) at that time I'll be honest I didn't even know who were, I knew pokemon very well, just don't like the ones in that game
In Melee it was a whole lot of (my favorite villain) as well as as well as staying with
Brawl added many newcomers I was excited for got a lot of play, along with vets I enjoyed.
Smash4 had some interesting picks I enjoyed. (I'm really glad all of the Koopalings are playable, Larry ftw) ultryu: but the additions to Brawl were much more appealing to me.
Now with Ultimate coming out (K. Rool was in my top 3, only newcomer thus far that I was excited for) are the ones I look forward to playing the most, so it's character loyalty for me, I don't play in too many tournaments but I'd rather play a character I like over a character I don't care for with great frame data and moves.
What about you guys throughout the games?
