Media Character Assist Trophy ideas

While I would love to see Eggman as a fighter, I think he would also work as an assist trophy.

He would be inspired mostly by his boss fights at Green Hill Zone, Spring Yard Zone and Marble Zone, using the patterns he had on those battles.

Creeper: Walks around the stage until someone gets close enough to it or hits it, which agitates it and it begins to explode. Moving far enough way from it cancels this animation. Maybe electric attacks could turn it into a Charged Creeper, giving a much larger explosion radius.

Rambi: Functions exactly like Gogoat, running throughout the stage and hitting those that gets in its way. It also serves as a moving platform.

Glass Joe: A worse version of the Little Mac Assist Trophy from Brawl in every single way. Punches do far less damage and do not KO until 300+ percent. His HP is also far lower than most Assist Trophies, perhaps as low as Color TV-Game 15.

Tetris: Tetrominoes rain down from the sky much like in its game of origin.

Urban Champion: Runs around the stage until getting close to a character, in which he uses either a light punch that is difficult to react against or a heavy punch that is far easier to get around.

Shantae: Utilizes her various animal abilities to attack or dodge attacks and her hair as a disjointed whip attack.

I have quite a lot of assist trophy ideas for Touhou Project characters. Here are a few

Marisa Kirisame: Aims at players with huge lasers (Master Spark). Throws cartoonish stars in all directions.

Youmu Konpaku: Actually consists of two entities that are similar except for the fact that one of them (ghost half) does not have a hurtbox, making her impossible to hit. Attacks with quick movements using her swords, moves very fast. Eliminating the hitable one makes the other one disappear as well.

Sakuya Izayoi: Attacks by randomly speeding up / slowing down characters in time, or the game's time itself. Also throws knives at opponents.

Seija Kijin: Reverses the screen horizontally, vertically, or both. The behavior would be the same as already existing hazards with this effect.

Magikoopa: Waves his wand around and something random happens (Giant transformation, flower damage, lava floor, etc.)

Condor (Ice Climber): Swoops in swiftly to rescue a fighter at least three times should they be launched.

Captain N: Fires his NES Zapper, dodges with the jump button, and pauses everyone save his summoner.

Firebrand: Flies around sporadically and shoots fireballs with deadly accuracy.

Bonanza Bros.: Stun fighters by shooting them, and snatch food items. Sometimes throw bombs to stun multiple fighters.

Kracko: Floats around and shoots lighting in several directions, sometimes summoning Waddle Doos.

Snip and Clip: Cut off a small chunk off the screen; any fighters who don't get out of the way in time are instantly K.O.'d when that portion falls off.

Adam Malkovich: Disables a random special move.
Bravo.

On topic though. I was disapointed that Persona didn't bring items along including Assist Trophies. Soooo.

Futaba/Oracle - Basically she does what she does in Persona 5 once summoned.
-Applies Charge/Focus
-Heals
-Buffs

Bandana Dee (shoot me): Runs around swiftly attacking with his spear, and gives you either a Maxim Tomato or a Superspicy Curry.

Wild Dog (Time Crisis): Goes around shooting with left arm machine gun and even using his tractor beam on the same arm. When K.O.'d, he blows up himself and anyone around him.

Tabuu: Knocks off everyone on screen with his Off Waves, but only those at high damage. Not even Rebel's Guard is gonna help here when that happens.

Mallo (Pushmo): Pushes boxes and barrels towards opponents.

I think pigmasks from mother 3 would be cool
I would be a few pigmasks going around shooting people and ramming into them

The Space Pirates could make for a raid-style AT in the fashion of Pit's centurions or the Advance Wars tanks.

Basically they would crash their ships into unsuspecting fighters, climb out, and either gang up on a fighter or bring their summoner items that they've plundered.

Doshin the Giant: Appears near a blast zone in certain stages (usually bigger ones) and keeps his summoner from getting launched off or falling off.

Franziska von Karma (Ace Attorney): Whips fighters from a distance about as long as Simon and Richter's if not slightly longer.

Travis Touchdown (No More Heroes): Just does him all around the stage, being one of the hardest Assist Trophies to take down.

Captain Toad (Super Mario 3D World): Walks around with a pickaxe and sometimes digs up an item.

Glass Joe: Extremely weak fighter, but when he's KO'd, a bunch of higher-damaging croissantants come flying out. They don't damage the person who KOs him.

Hey, it’s been a while

Manhole (Game and Watch): Appears near the blast zone to rescue the summoner during their fall.

Matta Ray (Ring Fit Adventure): Heals summoners that stand under it bit by bit (more if the summoner or their allies taunt on it).

Pokémon Ranger: Draws loops around opponents that slowly deal damage. Any continuous looping around opponents over 100% damage instantly K.O.'s them.

Arvis: Casts Valflame in a large area in front of him.

Wii Balance Board: Wiggles around and causes either earthquakes that continuously trip opponents, or turn the floor to ice, causing opponents to slip around.

Bald Bull: Constantly charges onto opponents, sometimes pulling a Slip Counter when attacked.

Cactuar: Hops around hurting anyone that touches it (even when it's damaged) and attacks with its signature 10,000 Needles at the end.

Bumping this; I made a thread for what characters would make good DLC Assist Trophies for each Challenger Pack, were that possible.

Here were some ones I made:
-Jack Frost (SMT/Persona): Runs around shooting ice at enemies, sometimes clinging to upside down surfaces.

-Golem (Dragon Quest): Slowly walks around and chucks boulders at opponents.

-Mumbo Jumbo (Banjo-Kazooie): Casts a spell that randomly transforms the player*.

-Nakoruru (Samurai Shodown): Fights opponents with her dagger and her trusted bird friend, Mamahaha.

-Hanneman (Fire Emblem: Three Houses): Teleports around the stage and casts Sagittae. He takes less damage from projectile attacks and is immune to magic attacks, but is relatively weak to physical attacks.

*The transformations are as follows:

-Giant

-Tiny

-Invincible

-Bunny

-Metal

-Bullet Bill

-Super Leaf

-Superspicy Curry

-Gold

Or he can just turn you into a washing machine, leaving you completely helpless until the transformation wears off in ten seconds or an opponent tosses you off./QUOTE]

Captain Toad- Can swing and throw things from his bag

Shantae- Can whip her hair

Bandana Waddle Dee- Can hit opponents with his umbrella

Glass Joe/ King Hippo- They will do an ultra punch. But, if Glass Joe is spawned (25%) of the time he will miss

Monkey (from Super Monkey Ball) - Will roll around the stage

Excitebike- Will play the same as it did in brawl

Chibi- Robo: Like Shantae but instead of using hair, will use plug

Paper Mario- Will slam a hammer on the center of the stage

Nabbit- Will 'kidnap" other players

Rayman- Will throw limbs at other players

Phoenix Wright- Will point at other players "Like his final smash in marvel vs. capcom

Medusa- Hair of snakes will attack players

And Finally...

Birdo- Will spit out eggs at other players

Thought of one for Mallow from Super Mario RPG. When he's summoned, a cloud with one of four things will happen:

1. Thunderbolt which does moderate damage in a wide area.
2. Shocker which does strong damage on one fighter unless skillfully avoided.
3. Snowy which affects a smaller area than Thunderbolt but will temporarily freeze anyone hit.
4. HP Rain which heals 10-15% for the fighter that summoned it.

Ngl I think Arthur from Ghosts 'n Goblins would be a really cool assist. He could go around throwing his lance at people, his animations would closely mimic his old 8-bit NES animations. Ghosts 'n Goblins is fairly iconic to the NES so I'm surprised it doesn't have any representation in Smash yet.

Billy Hatcher:
When summoned, Billy appears on-stage in a ray of light, like when starting up a level in his home game (Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg). He then starts by summoning a giant egg in-front of him and running around while pushing it to make it roll at high speeds (Egg Dash), crushing opponents on his way.

Occasionally, he will throw it forward like a bowling ball before it ricochets back to him (Egg Shot) and bouncing into the air, slamming down opponents below him when falling into the ground (Egg Bounce & Egg Driver).

After his time is over, Billy will place his egg in-front of him and perform the Rooster Call by shouting "Cucka-Doodle-Doo!" to hatch it for a random item, which his summoner can use against opponents as he performs a thumbs-up and says "Good morning!" before disappearing.

Here, I'd actually like to suggest AiAi from the Super Monkeyball series. What he'd do is that when summoned, he'd already be in his ball, and he'd then run directly forward within the ball, attempting to knock people over. What's interesting is that the stage itself will tilt, making it seem like he's rolling downward - and similarly to how Pilotwings works, the stage's layout is changed. This happens twice, once as AiAi rolls toward one side, and then again as he rolls toward the other side, before he rolls back to the centre, the stage returns to normal, and AiAi is desummoned. Notably, his attack power will depend on his speed - he'll do much more knockback if he's moving faster, but if he's moving slower he may do lots of flinching damage.

Angry Sun would be extremely brilliant. Would love it. I'd also throw in 8 bit Bowser.

Yoshi's Island Stork is also a good idea.

I like this.

Some Kirby Assist Trophies because why not.

Bandana Waddle Dee: He sticks around the summoner in a similar way as how Popo/Nana fight together as the Ice Climbers. While he usually stays behind, the long spear can reach the enemies in front of the summoner, so you can do combined attacks with him, the spear will stun the enemies while you can charge a full Smash attack and punish them.

He has a small moveset of 4 attacks: an upward stab, a front stab, a fast multiple front stabs combo which lasts for a couple of seconds and can stun the enemies, and a stomp move. In addition to this, when the player ran out of jumps and presses the jump button again, he teleports over the player and is automatically grabbed: he will lift the player around with the "spear copter" for a limited time: that's an additional recovery move that can be used instead of up-b, and the rotating spear can deal some damage.

Can be defeated.

Adeleine: She draws on a canvas in a layer away from the stage's plane. Basically she's similar to Vince, but more advanced. She has 50% chance to draw an item from a pool (usually maxim tomato, but she can also draw other stuff such as a great amount of food, bob ombs, hammer, etc... even a Final Smash Ball if they are set on; usually she draws powerful items anyway), and a 50% chance of drawing a boss, it depends on if she's happy or angry when you summon her.

The bosses she can summon are the usual Kracko or Ice Dragon... depending on how much effort they want to put into developing the assist trophy, maybe you can add in a few more bosses such as Dark Matter, Sweet Stuff, Mr Shine & Mr Bright or Waiu (maybe some new ones too). All the bosses have a very simple attack pattern and can be defeated. If the boss is defeated, Adeleine will jump into the main layer of the stage and will rush into the player who defeated the boss with her signature flail move. In this state she can be defeated with 1 hit, and if she hits you she's still automatically defeated, though in that case you will get the damage and knockback too.

Rick, Kine and Coo: They jump around the stage, target a random opponent and attack them. Rick will shoot fire from his mouth, Kine will just position himself into the player and splash some water to stun them, and Coo will fly around the target and shoot some cutting feathers. They can't be defeated, but their attack is simple and predictable, you just need to dodge them.

They appear all at once, though one animal can target only one player at time. If there is only one opponent, he will be attacked by only one of the three animals, while the others will just jump, fly and move around the stage. Once the attack is finished, another attack can begin, though the same animal can't target the same player more than once per summon.

If you are too far from an animal, that animal will ignore you (they have a limited range for targeting players).

Computer Virus: It's a bunch of computer windows of several dimensions. There is a main window with the picture of the enemy: it's a retro styled generic RPG enemy that's different every time you summon it; the secondary windows contain a dialogue box and the statistics, including the HP value of the enemy.

It's a turn based fight. When the enemy attacks, it can't be damaged. The attacks do affect the whole screen and are stuff such as, a shooting stars rain, a strong wind with some cutting shockwaves here and there, a wave of fire, etc.

After each attack, it's the players' turn: the enemy comes out from the window and lands on the stage, standing still. You can hit it and decrease its amount of HP until it reaches 0.

When the enemy is defeated, the dialogue box will show all the points gained (including the joke ones such as big smile points, happiness points, etc.), and the defeated enemy will drop some items: one equippable item (a weapon or a power up) and some food of amount depending on how strong the enemy was.

Gigant Edge: The huge knight mid-boss from Kirby's Return to Dream Land, but more based off the version that appears in the Kirby Clash series.
Basically it does the same attack pattern as in the Clash games, and can be defeated if you manage to consume its HP value (though it's not visible).

When it gets enough damage, it starts flashing red, faster and darker the closer it is from being defeated.

Occasionally, but it's very rare, can spawn as the fire variant from Super Kirby Clash instead of its base neutral form.

Ribbon: She can spawn only if Kirby is in the battle. She flies to where Kirby is, kisses him, and then he blushes and starts walking backwards like a drunk until he falls off the stage. Until Kirby loses his stock, he can't be controlled anymore. Ribbon can turn against the summoner if the summoner plays as Kirby.
(ok this one is a joke)

There are countless options, I just ran out of ideas for now.

Assist Ideas:
First Party:
  • Edelgard (Fire Emblem) (When Summoned, she would rush at Player with her Battle Axe, slashing it down with high percent of KO) (Can be KOed)
  • Duck Fleet (Duck Hunt) (When summoned, the ducks are flying on the Stage, interfering with Fighters) (They can be KOed) (Fun Fact: The Concept references the Assist Capsule idea in Melee, where Ducks from Duck Hunt are flying on stage, attacking players)
  • Commander (X from Gameboy) (When Summoned, he appears in Background as Polygonal Wireframe form and commands the vehicles from X/X-scape to attack the Enemies) (He cant be Defeated)
Third Party:
  • Sticks The Badger (Sonic) (When summoned, she throws her boomerang and she Stuns enemies) (Can be KOed)
  • Creeper (Minecraft) (When summoned, he would walk on the stage, but if someone touches him, he explodes with KO) (Can't be KOed, since he can KO himself)
  • Space Harrier (Space Harrier) (When Summoned, he flies around the Stage and shoots at players) (He can't be defeated, unless if you bring him down)

Here's some ones I thought of for the DLC series introduced:
  • Cactuar: Jumps around eratically, finishing with its signature 1,000 Needles (Can be K.O.'d)
  • Futaba: Uses Active Support to buff all of the summoner's (and allies') stats, as well as heal them bit by bit (Cannot be K.O.'d)
  • Slime: Sticks to a fighter and attacks them, dealing little damage and unable to slow the opponent down (Can be K.O.'d)
  • Mumbo Jumbo: Casts a spell that gives all fighters a random transformation (Tail, Metal, Tiny, etc.) (Cannot be K.O.'d)
  • Nakoruru: Attacks opponents with the help of her bird companion, Mamahaha (Can be K.O.'d)
  • Creeper: Follows the nearest opponent for a second and a half before exploding (Can be K.O.'d)
  • Yoshimitsu: Confuses the opponent with many strange attacks, like using his katana as a helicopter (Can be K.O.'d)

Another series of Assists is coming up right Now!
First Party:
- Torkdrift (Mario Odyssey): When summoned, he hovers above the Stage and he shoots out Ring waves that knockback Players. Unable to be KOed.
  • Leon (Pokemon): When summoned, he sends out Rhyperior, Haxorus and Inteleon. They attack players with their attacks. Pokemon can be KOed, but Leon himself can't.
  • Nia (Xenoblade): When summoned, she would heal you and attack players with her rings. Can be KOed.
  • Andrew Oikonny: When summoned, he flies in style of ZSS's Final Smash and shoots at players while flying. Can't be KOed.
- Muddy Mole: When summoned, he digs under stage and throws Balls at players. While getting damage, he throws stronger Balls. He can be KOed.
  • Primid (Smash): When summoned, he would attack with his weapon that gives knockback. Can be simply KOed.
  • Face Raiders: When summoned, they fly in Background and shoot one ball at enemy like Andross. They can sometimes Swoop at Player with knockback. Can be KOed.
Third Party:
- Heihachi: When summoned, he does his signature attack and stomps on enemies with stun. Can be KOed.
  • Viewtiful Joe: When summoned, he would run around stage and he would throw Mach Boomerangs. He can be Defeated.
  • Polygon Man (Playstation Allstars): When Summoned, he would slam his he'd to squish fighter, while summoning Character Clones to Fight. He cant be KOed.
- Goose (Untitled Goose Game): When summoned, he steals Fighter's weapons and honk at players with stun. He cant be KOed.
- Pico (Pico's School): When summoned, he walks on the stage and shoots at enemies with his Uzi while Reticle appears, where he Aims. Can be Killed.
