Changing Controls in Melee

I know that you can't change controls in Melee. And I know you can change the controls in Dolphin for Melee. But for the core game, is there any way to change the controls? I, personally use for special and for attack. It's the only thing I'd like to change, really. I'm OK with reconfiguring the controller if it's they only way to do so.
