So I was thinking more about how veterans might change in Smash 5. Was talking to a player the other day and were just shooting the breeze about what to expect if Smash Switch is a new game altogether, and we both agreed that reworking the already existing characters would go much further than adding a ton of newcomers (though newcomers are still expected and very welcome!)
Beyond the usual retooling of moves, Melee added Charging Smashes and a Side Special as well as U/D Throws. Brawl added Final Smashes. And Smash 4 went back and reworked character's stats and moves slightly, some more than others, but didn't add anything new to the core mechanics of a moveset (unless you count Customs, which are hardly seen in normal play).
Keeping all that in mind, what do you think we should or could see in Smash 5 as far as changing up our veterans?
One thing I'd like to see is reworking Mario to reflect his series better than he currently does. FLUDD needs to go, and giving him back his spin attack (maybe based on the more recent games) would be great since it's more relevant these days. Also changing his FSmash to the hat toss would be both awesome and a good way to improve Mario's ground game.
