CEO Dreamland: Smash Wii U Preview

This article was written by Frank "Hangman" DeJohn.

With the platform fighter-oriented spinoff of the beloved Community Effort Orlando, or CEO, tournament series right around the corner, it’s time to take a look at who will be participating in the Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. One noteworthy difference between the participants of CEO Dreamland and the previous iteration of CEO that had Smash Wii U, that being CEO 2016, is the contrasting numbers of participants.

CEO 2016 toted an impressive 906 entrants in Smash Wii U singles while CEO Dreamland is packing 376 entrants, a little bit more than the third the amount of entrants from last June. Regardless of the smaller pool of players, Florida has come out in full force to defend their turf from invading warriors from around the globe.

Floridian Threats
Florida is an incredibly large sub-region of the United States East Coast, to the point that it is further divided into smaller sub-regions within Florida to better organize its high population of talented players. A few nationally recognized names who will be holding down the fort for the Sunshine State will be Eric “ESAM” Lew:4pikachu:, Saleem “Salem” Young:4bayonetta:, Daniel “Day” Facey:4lucario:, as well as other notable power ranked players such as Austin “Dath” Brown:4robinf:, Jon “Sol” Lackey:4littlemac:, and Utopian Ray:rosalina:. On top of these names, a slew of Floridian smashers are confirmed to come out to CEO Dreamland.

Many players from outside of Florida will be participating as well, from the seldom seen powerhouses such as Andrew “ScAtt” Huntley:4megaman: and Chukwuemeka “Mekos” Anazia:4lucas:, to global juggernauts such as Gonzalo “ZeRo” Barrios:4diddy::4lucina:, Larry “Larry Lurr” Holland:4fox::4dk:, and the reigning CEO Smash Wii U champion Jason “ Anti” Bates will also be pitting themselves against each other in a fight to the top.

Tiering It Up
CEO Dreamland is being recognized as an A-Rank Smash Wii U event in accordance to the PGStats Tournament Tier System, a cut above most regional tournaments and being placed as such for its high density of PGR v2 Entrants and sizeable entrant number.

Even with only being a portion of what CEO 2017 may offer this year, Alex Jebailey is looking to give plenty of love and attention to all Super Smash Bros. games this upcoming weekend. I saw that zero was playing Lucina in some doubles stuff - didn't get a chance to see the stream. Singles too?

I wanna see how far Lucina can go - people are torn on how different she is from Marth but I root for the underdog.

ZeRo picking up Lucina is one of the best things to happen in top level competitive smash. It's rare to see an honest character who is fun to watch being used by a top player.

Seeing Fatality take CF so far at Civil War was also great.
