I've been looking around everywhere on the forums, seeing videos, on the dojo and everything. Basically one thing from everybody has come up: Brawl is a new game. Not a Melee 2.0 or 1.5. Its brand new.
Watching a money match on the E4A, it was mentioned by Gimpy that they wern't technical experters at the game, many ideas were thrown out, others completely fixed.

So for Melee pros, ams, and newbies alike, we all start at square one again. Everybody begins on the exact same platform once Brawl comes out. We can have new people find out insane combos and many new ways of technical playing.
Once one shares, we all grow with it, its almost like bringing low rankers into the top ranks along, making everyone stronger in a way :)

If anyone would like to add, disagree, agree, anything, go right ahead.

Eh I don't think everyone is going to be at an even level necessarily. The thing that made pros good was the mindset they have to play well and know what to execute at what time. True it might take them a while to get accustomed to the new physics of the game but they will still be able to play smart.

Some people are just better due to mindgames. Mindgames are still in, as far as we know. ;)

Its the same mechanics dude. People that played melee or 64 are still gonna start off with an obvious edge.

I come from the land of the ice and snow..
I don't think skill is going to carry over as much as mindset. Those who had the will to practice for hours a day and discover new abilities, etc, will only be on the same level as everyone for a few weeks, before new skills and strategies start to surface.

Then, on the opposite side of the spectrum, are people like me, who are average at best. Your "hardcore" casual, that unlocks everything and plays the game often enough, but since nobody I know goes to tournaments or is very good, I'm content with my scrubness.

I don't think my kind of people were ever on the same footing with people like Mew2King, Ken, etc, and just because it's a new game doesn't mean that kind of stuff has changed. Just like the Halo 2 pros are now mastering Halo 3, so it shall be with Smash.
