Brawl+ only works in 480p?

Okay so I've played Brawl+ fine before, that is until my Wii fell over. Now the disc reader doesn't work so I have to play Brawl+ though a USB Loader. I have the Brawl+ channel that works as a USB Loader and you just load the codes through a snapshot on the SD card. That all works and plays just fine, as long as I'm using my component cables.

I generally have the Wii hooked up to a receiver that just upscales everything to 1080i but either way the Wii is plugged in using the Wii component cables. The game plays and everything is fine. The Wii settings are set to 480p in the Wii menu, if that matters.

But if I bring my Wii to a tournament or just in the other room, I have to use the composite cables and so the Wii is back in 480i. I can load up Brawl+ just fine, but once I get into a match, about 40 seconds into the match the music stops playing. Once the match ends, or if I quit out, the game freezes. It always happens at around the same time. If I don't go into a match and just sit at the character select screen, the music stops playing there, and once I try to move on to the stage select screen, it just locks up there.

Again, this only happens if I play in 480i, if I play on my other TV in 480p it works just fine with no problems.

Anyone know what's going on?

PS. If this isn't the right place to post, tell me and I'll move it. But thanks in advance anyways.

Nothing todo with Brawl plus, you just ****ed your wii and because you have ****ed your wii it does not work proper. You have damaged more than just the disk reader.

...Have you tried figuring out what exactly is causing the issue here? Like, you know for certain that other games work? And that VBrawl works?

And that ANY games work? Brawl, even in ISO form, tends to be more picky than other games.

Yep, every other game works just fine. Actually, I tested it, and vBrawl gets the same problem. But I was playing Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and New Super Mario Bros. Wii and those both played perfectly. So I know some games do play in 480i. Just any form of Smash doesn't for some reason.

Nothing to do with B+. It's the laser in your Wii.

Brawl is a dual-layered DVD, and it extremely finnicky.

Well, no games work with the laser in my Wii, that's why I use a USB Loader, but other games work just fine in 480i and 480p whereas vBrawl and Brawl+ only work in 480p.

Try a different dump. And I'm assuming you're downloading the NTSC versions.

Can't really get anymore specific here though. The fact that we're already talking about USB loaders means we are already flirting with the line of what's acceptable and not to speak about here.

For B+, try forcing a video mode (since loaders use the Gecko OS source right?) that's interlaced (but not PAL either).

How did you get to play that when it doesn't come out till Sunday?

Think of the same situation with Brawl at launch with Sears already receiving stock and sold them before street date (a week prior as well).

Now think of someone leaking such a copy.

Questionable Success?!

That's basically it, the game broke street date and I got lucky. Modern Warfare 2 just recently broke street date too, so it's not that unheard of. Again, I know it doesn't offer much credibility to tell you that I do own a legit copy of Brawl and have to use a USB Loader now that my Wii disc reader is messed up, but before then I had no problems with the game running in 480i or 480p when I used a disc. Now it seems to be suck only working in 480p. I don't think I can change any options either since I use the Brawl+ channel to boot the game, and doing that just goes directly into the game.

Does the Brawl+ USB loader look for a USB loader on your Wii and then use that? If so I can try changing the options in that loader program instead I guess.

Well I know some stores sell things a week early (MW2 for example) didn't know if he got it from a store early or DLed it somewhere.

It's a pretty good game too if you were wondering, I think it's more difficult with more than one person since you bump into each other a lot and end up accidentally dying once you get to like World 3. But yeah, that game works in 480i just fine. So does every other game, except any form of Brawl.

It looks like a really good game. I plan on getting it. I hope single player gets pretty challenging. With a mechanic that plays the game for you if you hit the block, the least they can do is make the game old school hard.

World 1 is laughably easy, I never died once and had 35 lives by the end. From world 2 on though the star coins are a bit tougher to find/get and the game does begin to get a bit tougher. It's definitely harder than New Super Mario Bros. DS, but then again if it were any easier the game would just play itself without the option. =p

But yeah, I guess I'll try to find a different dump of the game, and I am using the NTSC Brawl on my NTSC Wii.
